I have a 2006 dodge ram 1500 with aprox. 54,000. the rotor and brakes went out on the left side only, when i took it to the dealership they stated my caliper was bad, thus causing the rotor and brakes, the caliper is covered by warranty not the rotor & brakes, a check shows the abs module was recalled on 2006 dodge rams, my vin is in the range for the recall, but mine is not in the recall (according to them), however they have no explanation of why so much damage at so little miles. a review of complaints shows several issues with rotor, pads & calipers on these vehicles all with low mileage. *tr

There is a (tsb 02-001-07 rev. a) that calls out a shudder, braking, shimmer... blah blah blah... on level ground and certain speeds. my issue is not on level ground, my problem exist on decline of 7% when the brake is applied very slightly the front brakes or front suspension shudders, and shakes so violently that the entire truck and the steering wheel is out of control, if you grab to tight on the sterring wheel you may over correct your steering and eventually could cause you to overturn your vehicle. there is no excuse for this, i have had my rotors changed, brakes changed, tires balanced, and rotated but the problem still exists. i am telling you that this is a very dangerous situation for anyone to be in. i would love to take the owner of the dodge co. and his family for a ride. i will almost guarantee that something would get done about this issue. rotors should last for more than 6 months, but the truck is violently out of control and too danergous for me to allow my wife or other family members to drive this vehicle until it is fixed or i sell it. once i sell it i will not purchase another dodge product again, i am tired of wasting my time and money on this issue. i am tired of the dealerships giving me the run around and oh it;s your rotor are quote worped un-quote is how it is documented on my paperwork..

Brake performance failure beginning at 9,000 odometer miles: at approximately 9,000 miles the brakes on my ram 1500 2 wheel drive began to vibrate when applied. .normal brake use with 65 to 80% at highway speeds up to 75 mph, with no excessive or extreme load conditions, from purchase up to the initial failure. being 2300 miles from home i waited to visit the dealer upon return. now at 12,000 odometer miles the vehicle was experiencing severe chatter when applying brakes and exhibited what i thought was 'parallelism or rotor warping. the dealer informed me that brakes were out of warranty but did provide a visual check and concluded the rear rotors were warped and should be turned. i had the brakes serviced and the rotors turned within days. again, prior to 10,000 additional miles, application of the brakes produced vibration. as time and miles progressed the vibration became extreme just as before so at some point the rotors were turned again with little if any improvement. i continued to use the vehicle until the situation was so severe the truck would appear to jump rapidly under braking and the more pressure applied the more violent the reaction. the severity was worse at increased speeds. finally in fear for passenger safety i purchased performance ebc drilled and slotted brake rotors and performance pads and had those installed. the result after a short time was a worse, and even more severe, problem beginning well short of 10,000 miles. the situation is now so bad i have actually been thrown into adjoining traffic lanes. i am convinced a systemic problem exist. *tr

Hands down the worst vehicle i have ever owned when it comes to brakes. after the initial brake warranty of 12,000 miles ran out, the rotors warped. now at 97k+ miles i am about to install a fourth set of rotors (all four) at my own expense. at approximately $250 in parts per repair, plus my own lost labor time, and the sheer disappointment of knowing that my brakes could fail at any given moment, needless to say i am a little apprehensive about purchasing another dodge truck. i do think that if something is not done to resolve the brake inadequacies then maybe legal action may have to take place. i have read countless complaints about the brake rotors installed on the big horn and lone star editions with the 20 wheels. i realize it may be a vendor issue and not necessarily dodge's fault, but if dodge knows about it, why won't they do anything about it; thus placing the blame on dodge for continuing to utilize the supplier of the brake rotors in question. *tr

I bought a 2006 dodge ram 1500 in 2006. after 27,000 miles the rotors had to be replaced. the truck now has 57,000 miles on it, and i've had to replace the rotors a total of 3 times, and i've had to have the rotors resurfaced once. each time i have to replace the rotors, the cost is about $260. there is no significant event leading up to the rotors warping. my truck is my general use vehicle. i tow a boat on occasion, which weighs less then 2000 pounds. this truck is rated for far more than that. last rotor resurfacing took place on 24 apr 09. *tr

After only about 8,000 miles the brake rotors were so warped they needed replacement. the dealership chose only to turn them down removing rotor material to take out the warp. obviously, the warping returned at 14,000 miles and the dealership claims the rotors are no longer covered by the warranty and wants to charge me for replacement. the factory rotor is absolute junk. the dealership denies that they are having widespread problems with the defective rotors but the internet indicates otherwise. please force a recall. *tr

My (new) '06 ram 1500 4x4 suffered from pulsating brakes at 9k miles. took it to the dealer and advised that my '03 dakota had the same problem. they inspected the front brakes and confirmed the rotors had some run out. they were resurfaced at no cost. not long after....at 19k miles, the condition arose again. this time, i had to make a 2500 mile trip and couldn't get the truck in beforehand. the dealer might have considered fixing them, based on a 12mo/12,000 mile warranty from the first repair. nevertheless, now at 22k i am told i, too, am sol. we need to contact the manufacture and urge them to consider replacement before accidents occur. *tr

I have a 2006 dodge ram 1500 quad cab with 16,000 miles . i recently discovered that the front rotors are warped and after talking to the dealership they informed me that this would not be covered under warranty. after inspecting i discovered that the brake pads are hardly worn at all. the service advisor told me that this was a problem they were seeing on these new trucks. i feel that this is unacceptable and should be taken care of by dodge. *tr

If you apply hard pressure to the brake pedal, the pedal will travel almost to the floor going past the gas pedal. the gas and brake pedals are fairly close together and if your foot is off set on the brake pedal, your shoe will catch the gas pedal when pressing down on the brake pedal. this will cause the engine to speed up while you are trying to stop the vehicle. trying to stop the vehicle at the same time you are making it go faster, just isn't very good. *nm
