Defect SummaryChrysler is recalling certain model year 2011 ram 1500 trucks manufactured from september 2009 through december 2010. some vehicles may have experience a noise (growl, grind) coming from the rear axle bearing which could eventually seize.
Consequence SummaryA failure of the bearing could cause the vehicle to stall increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryChrysler will notify owners and will install an oil port insert into the rear axle free of charge. the safety recall began on march 4, 2011. owners may contact chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

 Tl- the contact owns a 2011 dodge ram 1500. while driving approximately 30 mph, the contact noticed a grinding noise and a vibration coming from the accelerator pedal. additionally when the vehicle was in reverse, the contact noticed a grinding and squeaking sound coming from the rear end of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the technician stated that the vehicle was designed to act in that manner and advised that they were unable to diagnose a failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 4,000. kmj
