| The spare tire below the pickup bed broke loose from it's cable and fell out on to the highway. this also happened with my 1998 dodge dakota. | |||

| Dash board and gauge cover for dash started to severely crack, called dodge, i was told there were not complaints of dashes cracking. i was told by dodge that nothing would be covered under warranty and do not park my truck in the sun. a few years later the entire unit fell into the defrost /hvac area and now have an excessive hole in the dash. i know at least 35 dodge truck owners in calif that all have the same issue. | |||

| I have owned this truck about 3 years. the vehicle has approx. 39,000 miles on it. i noticed small cracks in the dashboard. over the last 3 years, the cracks have gotten larger. i was traveling on interstate 81 and going across a bridge joint. the bridge joint dips down and the shock of the bridge joint caused the dashboard to completely shatter into pieces. these pieces are very sharp and brittle. these pieces flew up onto the seat. during an impact, these pieces could impale a person sitting in either the driver or passenger side. these pieces also fell down into the electrical system on the vehicle. it could impact the air bags or the computer on the vehicle. when i got home, i called dodge to see if there was any vehicle assistance program or recalls. they said there weren't any. i have all the pieces off the dash if someone would like to look at them. i did remove the dash from the vehicle in fear that someone would be hurt by these sharp pieces. i've read many stories about the dashboards on dodge ram trucks. i cannot believe that this is in the best interest of the consumer. from what i've read, the dashes on all dodge rams between 1998 and 2004 have been defective. i can't believe that there has been no recall on these dashes. if you have any questions, please e-mail me or call. thank you, michael donahue | |||

| Dashboard on truck is cracking. the cracks form extremely sharp edges and dagger shapes which would cut vehicle occupants in the event of an accident. | |||

| We bought a new 2001 dodge 2500 in october 2000. approximately 5 years after we bought it the dash began falling apart. at the time it began cracking, i wrote dodge a letter explaining our problem and requesting they repair the dash in good faith even though it was out of warranty. they never even bothered to reply. every single person we know with this dodge truck has a dash that is falling apart. there are huge chunks now creating holes in the dash. parts of the dash are falling down under the dash area into places i can't safely access. we have unsuccessfully attempted to glue the cracks approximately 20 times. my fear is that it's getting so bad it will soon interfere with wiring, air bags and safety of the vehicle as chunks of the dash are falling into areas of the truck where they are not intended to be. i don't think we should have to wait for an accident to happen to see this dash recalled. since dodge is not accepting responsiblity for this obvious defect, i think the government should force them to recall the truck and repair the damage. | |||

| Top of dash cracked so bad pieces are falling out. if we were to get into a head on collision, these pieces of broken plastic would turn into shrapnel. if i knew about this site sooner i would of certainly brought it to your attention. i'm not alone in this problem, or that it was caused by the sun, armoral, etc. compiled over 1,500 other people on dodge ram forums, car complaints, and other such internet sites with the same problem, and no recall from dodge to fix this problem. | |||

| My dashboard had a small crack that has turned in to a massive sinkhole. my fear is possible life threatening injury/ permanent disability to myself or a passenger as a result of passenger side airbag deployment that would cause the remaining pieces of plastic to become projectiles. the dealer has told me that no recall has been issued so they will not take any corrective action. | |||

| Hard plastic dash board cracks into lots of hard sharp pieces that can become deadly projectiles in a crash. instrument cluster bezel also becomes brittle and can pose a severe laceration risk in a collision situation. also, as the dash degrades, large chunks can become dislodged during driving on rough roads or when hitting a bump. these chunks can slide and move about the cab and either cause a dangerous distraction resulting in a crash, or, can fly about and potentially cause injury to occupants due to the sharp edges. please prove that the nhtsa is not just another bloated government agency in the pocket of the auto manufacturers and do something about this issue that has plagued dodge truck owners for years. | |||

| 2001 dodge ram 2500 dashboard cracked in so many places that it caved in and affected the high/lo beam switch. i turned the high beam switch on and the headlights went completely off. i immediately pulled over and somehow got the lo beams back on. this is a very dangerous situation that can put innocent lives in grave danger. please do something to resolve this issue before anything bad happens. | |||

| 2001 dodge ram 2500 the dash began to fall apart in pieces about a year ago. the pieces are now falling down in behind the dash. my fear is that these pieces may cause an electrical short. (lights, brakes, air bag, god only knows) the dash problem is so widespread, that after contacting numerous aftermarket and salvage suppliers, i have learned that there are no dashes available for my truck. i contacted dodge and learned that my truck is out of warranty. they do not believe the dash is a safety issue. | |||
