Was driving down icy road and without warning the engine accelerated to near redline, sent the truck sideways and within seconds of disaster the engine finally decelerated and i got control of the truck. after cautiously limping the truck home, lost all throttle response, then after short time was erratic. this is a possible deadly situation if this occurred in the wrong situation. dodge/chrysler needs to address this problem before someone is killed. a code of p2121 and p2123 came up and i have been told the part alone is 530.00 to replace. have not taken any action yet to get this item fixed. will not drive the truck, will have to be towed. not at all impressed with dodge's product and will be the last time i purchase an american made product. vehicle: 2004 dodge ram 2500 4x4 automatic engine: cummins h/o turbo diesel outside temp -10f snowy conditions, *tr

First the freeze plug blew out of the engine within 2 months of purchase (which took approx. 30 days for them to fix ) and then (and now ) i'm still running back and forth to the dealership complaining about the wind and water leakage in the front doors , the wind is sometimes so loud you have to yell at each other just to talk in the vehicle. the doors visibly shake while driving, allowing the wind and water in. and h.w. hunter dealership keeps saying there's nothing wrong with the truck. we let them test drive it alone which they did for 600 miles , and claim they heard nothing and then i drove while the district and service managers while in the truck with me they both stated that they could hear the wind but according to them that was normal. so i told they that the commercial advertised a smooth quite ride and this is not either . then once again i contacted chrysler and they said basically it is what it is and deal with it. i think after putting $18,500 down on this truck and still paying for it, it should be as advertised. not to mention the fact that the doors moving like they do has to be a safety issue , because they way they move i feel they are eventually they are going to fly off or something terrible like that. the date i'm using here is the date of the last time i took it in. *nm

2004 dodge ram 2500 hemi stall w/loss of power steering and brakes. my truck was bought new from hood river dodge, oregon, and has been in for repair because of the engine dying right after accelerating from a stop with loss of power steering and braking. they have had it 9 times starting last april and it has happened 12 times. most of the time in the middle of an intersection and one on a narrow interstate bridge. there are numerous reports on the web of this happening all across the country with 2004 and some 2005 dodge ram trucks and some durangos equipped with the hemi engine. dealer has worked with daimler chrysler tech's and engineers to no avail. dealer says it is chrysler problem and they need to come up with fix. i have contacted the dodge consumer line, 800-992-1997, 9 times. they prompted me to send in card in owner's rights under state lemon laws booklet and i was called on 11/10/05 and told they received the card and would contact me in 7-10 days. i have not been called back so i called 800# again and they said it was in the hands of there zone office, mark hyland, 866-337-7515 ext 3391, where i left a message on 12/22/05. i have also filed 3 nhtsa safety complaints. when i asked the daimler rep named nikki, id 7cs, on 12/22/05 to speak to a supervisor she told me that they did not talk to customers. when i became irate she put me on hold and a man named dante came on and gave me the info about the zone office, what is daimler chrysler and the nhtsa waiting for people to be injured or killed before reacting? i have left messages twice at the zone office and they will not return my calls. *nm

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - EXHAUST SYSTEM
05/01/20041104/11/2004
I purchased a 2004 dodge ram 2500 cummins truck. there are horrible diesel oil fumes entering the cab from the engine compartment. i was first told by the dealer that it was due to the engine being new. after 15,000 miles i was told that they have an oil additive available to 'fix' the problem by making it smell better. my 9 month pregnant wife cannot ride with me. the fumes are horrible and are causing nausea, headaches, and possibly poisoning which i have no way to verify. the smell is so bad i am not sure what to do, but it is completely unacceptible and seemingly very dangerous and could be fatal in the winter months when the windows must be rolled up. i have researched this issue on several online forums and many people are having this issue with the 2003 and 2004 dodge ram cummins 2500 and 3500 trucks. *ak
