| The rear door wires have broken on both doors, losing all connectivity to the main power source. as a result, power locks and lights that are connected in the rear cannot be activated from the main console. the doors have to be locked manually. this is a known failure with dodge trucks and needs to be recalled. the dealer even admitted to this being a chronic problem with the rear doors on this model. | |||

| I had a wiper motor failure. my understanding of the dodge ram is there is a total integrated power module that controls wipers, lights and other electrical devises. once the tipm see's the 5th fault it shuts down what ever is causing the fault. in my case it was a wiper problem. once the unit faults it has to be replaced and programmed for the vehicle. cost $1264.56 for a wiper motor repair. | |||

| Got a letter from chrysler that i was supposed to get my turn signals fixed if i had this problem i did have the problem but it dosent happen all the time, took the truck to dealer and they told me that they will not fix this turn signal problem if it isn't happening when they test it at dealer it is an intermittent problem and does not happen all the time but i believe that this is a major safety issue because if i am signaling one way and my truck is showing a different way that could possibly cause a crash or cause me to get a ticket. i believe this should be a recall and not just be fixed if the dealer can see it for them selves and was told by the dealer and chrysler customer assistance that they will do nothing if they don't see this problem at dealer but i could be any where and if it happens im supposed to stop what im doing and take truck over to them and hope it is still doing it when i get there other wise o well. thats pretty much what i get from them. | |||

| Turn signals do not work properly. when you put on your left turn signal it will light up as a right turn signal often and same when you put on your right turn signal the left will light up. most of the time however my turn signals will not even come on. this has almost caused several accidents its really bad when i am pulling trailers. in rain storms and snow storms my windshield wipers will occasionally just stop and only have 1 speed which is slow.... i have had to pull over alot and just wait for my windshield wipers to work again. | |||

| I was half way to my destination driving on a busy highway at 75mph pulling both my horses and my three horse trailer in a rain storm when the wipers sporadically stopped working. on the high setting they went to low, then stopped, then started again going fast, then completely quit posing a serious hazard to myself, my animals, and all around me on the highway. i was able to move over onto the shoulder and wait it out a while until i could attempt to complete my trip. with so many complaints i don't understand why this hasn't been recalled. i have replaced the wiper motor which only made the wipers move very slowly. there is still a problem, likely quite expensive, which will need to be fixed. my truck is driven very sparingly and had only 75000 miles at the time of wiper failure. | |||

| The right turn signal switch was turned on to the right and after the turn it would not shut off. i was able to get it to shut off by switching on the emergency flashers. throughout the next few days this occurred muliple times and each time the blinkers would not shut off. i was finally able to get the blinkers to shut off by changing the angle of the adjustable steering column. | |||

| 1. no events led to the failure. the windshield wipers slowed and eventually stopped while driving at highway speeds and i almost crashed with my wife and children in the vehicle. 2. wipers are now inoperable. 3. i am unable to fix the vehicle because of huge costs for the parts that could have been avoided with a simple and cheap fuse. parts are hard to find used and are vin number specific. the manufacturer knows there is a problem with the design and ase certifed mechanics recognize this fact. yet, dodge continues to charge rediculous amounts for these parts. on 2006 dodge ram 2500 4x4 turbo diesel, windshild wipers began working very slow in high speed, didn't work on any other speed, and finally stopped all together. this almost had severe consequences for my family as we were traveling at highway speeds in heavy rain. after further research, the totally integrated power module (tipm) was designed without a fuse in case of a power surge or short. it is my understanding that problems arise from the headlights, running lights and turn signals directly related to this power module failure as well. it was reported several times on forums that people were in near crash situations because of turn signals acting erratically and signaling the wrong direction and wipers stopping during heavy rainstorms. something must be done to protect the consumer. the parts to fix this problem are only available at the dealership and parts alone are $737. labor would also be necessary at $94 to just hook the vehicle to a star scan tool. i am not sure why this was never recalled when lives can be at stake because of poor engineering. more and more of the incidences are being reported as the vehicles age. please help the owner of these vehicles before lives are lost. | |||

| I have a 2006 dodge mega cab 2500 4x4 slt with ~53k miles on it. about 1 month ago i started to experience issues with using my left turn signal. during light momentary and full left turn signal actuation, my right turn signal would come on and the left turn signal would not come on. the occurrences happen at random times and for random durations of time. i usually fiddle with the turn signal lever to get the left signal to work after i notice the incorrect flashing of the right turn signal. this surely has raised my chances of being involved in an accident as other drivers interpret this to mean i have change my intent to turn or am confused or possibly impaired. this is an ongoing problem and i will repair this at my own cost to avoid putting myself in danger. i have read numerous reports of this or very similar failures occurring in the dodge truck line. please make this a safety recall in order to address this serious issue. | |||

| 2006 dodge ram 2500 cummins diesel-failed left turn signal/brake light on factory installed trailer plug. my parents purchased this truck new in 2007 that happened to have the trailer package included. i recently tried to hook up a trailer to my parents truck. i noticed the left turn signal and stop light on the trailer did not work. i went through the trailer and found all wiring to function correctly. i tested the factory installed trailer plug on the truck bumper and found the metal pin that sends the signal to the left signal/brake light of the trailer non-functioning. i tested the wire under the truck and found the same wire that attaches to the trailer plug had no electrical current. i checked the fuse box and alll fuses were functioning. i checked the internet and found many people with the same complaint. the common cause for the problem listed was the fuse box(aka tipm). there isn't a separate fuse for the trailer signal for a issues like a short. the whole circuit for the left light is closed by the software. instead of just replacing a fuse the whole fuse box needs to be replaced. the average cost is $1,000 to fix. i called the dealer and he said the usual service line, just bring it in and for $99 we'll diagnose it for you. i called the dodge customer service line and they said they would get back to me and it's been 3 days. i emailed dodge customer service and they said the same as the dealer did. i replied asking if dodge was going to help pay for the problem. i also asked if there was someone else of higher authority to communicate with. they replied okay and that it's been passed on. this is a big safety hazard for my family and the public. if i can't see a driver behind me or them can't see me and an accident occurs, who's going to pay for it and can you really put a price of the safety of your loved ones? | |||

| 2006 dodge ram 2500. multifunction switch fails when needed the most. this item controls the wipers, turn signals, high/low beams, as well as emergency flashers. this was an intermittent problem when i first reported it to the dealership, and surprise surprise it didn't fail at the dealership. now after my standard warranty has expired it has completely failed. there was no events leading up to the failure. the dealerships are now saying that this is a common issue, but since the warranty has expired, i now have to pay for parts as well as labor for an item that causes a major safety issue. imagine driving in a down poor, and the switch that controls your wipers fails to perform. *tr | |||

| I was driving down the hwy in pouring rain when the wipers started acting erratically going from real fast then slow then stopped leaving the wiper arm right in front of my eye level . they never came back on. luckily i avoided an accident. i have tried new wiper motor did nothing later ordered a multifunction switch that didn't work either. now im told that 2006 dodge ram 2500 has a tipm in place of the fuse this is called a total integrated power module. i searched the turbo diesel registry and there are others that have had the same experience. the truck has 58,000 miles and is garage kept i consider excellent condition. chrysler will not provide any help. i now have a $1,000 plus repair bill and a truck that i cannot drive. also i have read on here of other electrical problems so how can i trust that this part wont do the same thing. *tr | |||

| Upon connecting a trailer with a wiring fault to the 2006 dodge ram diesel 4x2 , the tipm on the truck cuts off the circuit. testing indicates a minor fault with the trailer wiring, which allows trailer lights to operate on non-dodge vehicles. according to the local dodge dealer the tipm has failed and must be replaced. the dodge ram does not have a fuse for trailer turn signal circuits nor any other means to allow for the consumer to address wiring faults on trailers, regardless the dodge ram is designed to allow towing. this presents a considerable safety risk as the consumer has zero means to address faults with the dodge tpim after normal business hours or in areas without a dodge dealer. the high cost of the tpim also discourages the average consumer from maintaining proper and safe operation of the vehicle upon a simple trailer fault. a simple inexpensive fuse as on pre-2005 dodge ram vehicles for trailer circuits will greatly improve safety as the consumer can address issues with the dodge ram from induced by simple trailer wiring faults. i have contacted the dodge dealer and chrysler llc about the issue and neither provides information that there is a fix to the tipm that enables the consumer to address the safety issue induced by replacing the module with a new one. dodge nor chrysler llc provided any instructions or documentation on how to advert tipm failures and safety issue resulting from their product not sending power to trailer lights. further tipm documentation here http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2006/08-021-06.htm i strongly urge the ntsb to make the dodge safe by making them reinstate use of simple affordable fuses to protect trailer circuits on the vehicle, enable greater safety when towing and addressing trailer tow faults when access to a dodge dealer is not possible. *tr | |||
