While traveling at speed (50-55 mph), the highway gradually went to the left. during this left maneuver, the steering wheel and front end of vehicle began to shake violently. the only way to stop the shaking was to slow under 20 mph. i had owned this vehicle for less than a week when this issue first occured. it has since happened every time i've driven the truck. it always seems while turning the steering wheel to the right or left and when traveling over bumps or joints in the road surface. this violent shaking would have definately caused loss of control if speed wasn't reduced immediately. this has been a frightening experience, and i have scheduled an appointment at a steering specialty shop immediately. i have been trying to keep the truck under 50 mph (when feasible) and i avoid interstates altogether.

After hitting a bump at highway speed the front end of my truck violently shook until i reduced speed to around 50mph. after researching issue on line i found this issue is so common that it is now referred to as the dodge death wobble. when this happened to me i was unable to steer until i slowed enough to stop the violent shaking. i contacted the local dodge dealer to see if there were any recalls for this and they told me that this was the first time that they had heard of this issue. i had the dealership look at my truck several months before and they found nothing. i had les schwab look it over and they found nothing. several on line posts indicated similar results. to get a better idea of the extent of the issue just go to you tube and type in dodge death wobble and you will see plenty of videos with the exact issue i experienced.

I was turning my dodge ram in a parking lot when the steering failed. the tie rod end seperated and failed causing the steering to fail. if i would have been traveling at a higher rate of speed i could have been killed. i had absolutely no control of the trucks steering. dodge would not correct the problem with out charging me for the repair and didn't seem to care that people could be getting killed from the defective parts in their trucks. i called two dealers and the chrysler care line but only got the run around. i would also like to make note that there are many of these failures occuring when i did a google search i found many complaints on message boards of dodge truck steering failures. i'm sure some people have not lived through this failure to launch a complaint about it. i would like to note that i repaired the truck myself with a replacement part from napa. the part cost $103.00. if i would have taken it to the dealer i would have had to pay over $650.00 for the parts because dodge has changed the replacement steering linkage for my truck. i would have had to replace the entire linkage to the 2008.5 linkage. i am sure they did this because they recognized they had a problem. after doing some research on the internet it appears that the 2008.5 linkage may have a higher failure rate than the 2006 linkage i have on my truck. because of that i choose to keep my original style linkage and just replace the tie rod end. this is a very serious problem that dodge needs to take responsibility for correcting!

2006 dodge death wobble, when at speeds above 40mph, hit a bump and front end goes into a violant shake. dodge has a service bulletin about this issue but it cost over $2000.00. there are numerous articles about this situation all over the internet. there needs to be a recall from dodge before someone is killed.
05/15/201051000
My 2006 dodge ram 2500 shakes violently when it hits a bump at speeds over 40 mph. this truck has an extended warrnty that my dealership will not honor. this death wobble condition is documented everywhere on the net. chrysler has figured out a way to charge $1,000.00 for the mandatory repair by calling it an tie rod update updates are not covered by warranty. i am very dissappointed in this crooked practice. this dodge death wobble is a condition that should be a major concern to them. i was charged $100.00 for them to inspect my truck and tell me that it is a known problem that they stock parts for it. i have not had a crash yet but, can't afford to pay chrysler anymore money to fix their problems. i will continue to drive this truck in this condition until there is a recall. for the safety of everyone one the road i would think that someone would force this issue. i've seen news stories on this and still nothing has happened.http://www.wsoctv.com/news/19518416/detail.html

I was driving on the highway at 50mph going around a slight bend to the right when i experienced the dodge death wobble. i had to slow down and pull over for it to go away. this is the 3rd time this has happened. all the forums i've checked suggest purchasing after market heavier duty steering components. this doesn't seem reasonable to me considering the cost of the vehicle in the first place. i also go thru ball joints every year and i've never had to change them on any other vehicle i've ever owned.

I have a 2006 dodge cummins with 44000 miles on it with the whole front end is now brand new. the problem with these vehicles is when you hit a bump or pot hole from 50 to 70 mph your truck gets a severe shake in the front end and can make you lose controll and kill you or other people. allso known as the death wobble.

2006 dodge ram 2500 death wobble. truck shakes at any speed but worse at higher speed when you hit a bump. it causes to loose control of truck. the truck just shakes violently and must come to a complete stop on highway. brought back to dealer and was good for about 2 weeks. has been going on since 1 year old. the truck currently has 50,000 miles on it.

2006 dodge ram diesel the infamous death wobble my personal experience was at just shy of 12000 miles take truck to the dealer nothing wrong that they can see. if it keeps happeneing bring it back . aproximently 18000 miles still happeneing cannot find anything wrong wth it. i take it back in talk to manager and i tell him that if you hit a bump at 55-60 that the truck voilently shakes. they say try wheel bearings. i put 800 in wheel bearings still occurs. i call chrysler and they lead me on that they might fix it but to take in to the dealer for diag. i take it in and they say put a steering stabilizer on it and they wont particapate in that so i put and new steering stabilizer on it and now it happens at 40-45 mph i am in the process of calling them back to let them know that the problem still exists and i am going to emphasize to them again that my wife and 2 yr old daughter are in the current driver and passenger of truck. this porblem has caused other damage to the truck that they will not also fix. i told them that i dont want anything then a truck that i can drive on the highway or down any road

While driving on the garden state parkway the front end of the vehicle began shaking violently. once the shakling began the vehicle was totally out of control. once i slowed to 45 mph the shaking stopped however during this time the vehicle was driving itself. thankfully there was no crash and i was able to continue driving. the next day during my commute the same exact thing happen. a check of the vehicle reveals no worn parts including the tires and tie rods. a check of the internet shows this is a common problem and referred to as the death wobble and was even the subject of discussion on the news. this is extremely dangerous and will lead to accidents and injuries. this matter that chrysler is aware of needs more attention and a recall should be announced. i am told that the track bar is the problem and will be repaired asap *cn

2006 dodge ram 2500 diesel. passenger side tie rod end falling off of ball. this is the second time this has happened to this vehicle. one at around 60000 miles. and the other was at around 135000 miles. tie rod ends had recently serviced by dodge facility and another alignment shop no one detected any problems. this is a major problem and causes loss of vehicle control and in the second instance caused me to leave the roadway out of control. no injuries were caused but i live in a mostly rural area and no one was around at the time of either incident. i would add that my family has 4 more of the same vehicle and all have had this same failure. *cn

2004 dodge ram pick up had repeated episodes of violent shaking, loss of steering control, and almost flipped over 2 out of the 10 episodes. happened when driving over 45mph, usually on the highway, and 50% of the time started shaking after hitting a bump in the road. took the truck to dodge several times, only to be told that there was nothing wrong with it. we were so terrified to drive it, that we ended up trading it in on another vehicle. unfortunately, since we paid cash for the truck, we ended up taking a tremendous loss on it. not to mention the thousands of dollars we spent trying to get it fixed. on one occasion we were stranded a few hundred miles from home, and had to stay at a campground for two weeks until it was so called fixed. dodge paid for nothing! after picking the truck up after being in the shop for 10 days, and several hundred dollars later, within 5 minutes of pulling out of the shop and accelerating to 45mph, the shaking became so violent it snapped a tie rod and put me in a ditch. when i called the dodge dealership that had just fixed it, they wanted to charge me for towing it back to the shop. this was very frustrating! we will never buy another dodge vehicle. this vehicle is dangerous to both the driver and the other motorists in it's path. *tr

Driving down the interstate at 70 miles an hour when i drove over a bridge expansion joint, the truck began so shake so violently that i had to pull off the road to complete stop to get the shaking to stop, this happened 8 more times on a 300 mile trip. upon searching online this seems to be a very common and serious problem for this model of vehicle. *tr

Purchased a 2006 dodge ram 2500 cummins diesel. truck was used at time of purchase with around 20 thousand miles on it. five days later driving home from work on the highway at around 55-60 miles per hour the front end began to shake violently. lucky for me nobody was around all i could do was to keep the truck on the road had to use both lanes, mine and the oncoming traffic lane. i was really out of control couldn't steer or brake to stop. after looking on line i have come to know it as the death wobble went to dealer and they said i should have e rated tires or ten ply's. they installed new steering stabilizer and suggested new shock absorbers and to take off the front 2 in leveling kit or front spacers that were on my truck when i purchased it. drove truck home and the front end was shaking the whole way. so i bought brand new e rated tires and put all new expensive after market shocks on the truck myself. slight improvement was achieved by these upgrades. also took to another dodge dealer after these modifications for a second opinion. they wouldn't replace anything but said they tightened a few things in the front end. they then said that it was probably the rims on my truck. so i purchased brand new rims and took the 2 levelers off. truck still shakes at around 55-60 mph and is not safe to drive. bottom line is that i should be able to buy a heavy duty truck and take my family on outings without the chance of crashing because of a defect that dodge could fix. very upset and have nowhere else to turn. i have no chance of fighting dodge or even a car dealership by myself. can you help? truck is still under warranty i have only drove 5 thousand miles in one year since i've owned it. *tr

I own a 2006 dodge ram 2500 that may be affected by a recall on 2008 model trucks. the recall number from chrysler is h36 and the nhtsa campaign id number is 09v005000. i just took my truck in for inspection and this joint on the pitman arm failed for too much play. we called to get the replacement part and were told it is no longer available because the part has been redesigned. you now have to replace multiple components because of this redesign which was initiated from the recall for 2008 trucks and it will cost you approximately $550 for the replacement parts. it will cost you this just for parts, if you truck is out of warranty. my truck has 50,170 miles on it which is over the 36,000 mile warranty. however, i should not have to pay $600+ because one joint is bad. if these parts were redesigned for safety reasons then this should be covered in the recall. i have confirmed with area dealers and all 2500 series dodge rams use this recalled linkage from 2003-2008. they all call for the same part number. also, this was not a problem with just a certain
