There has not yet been an accident but i received a notice in the mail saying that the dash silencer pad in my truck may sag and contact the exhaust gas recirculation cooler, and that it may cause the silencer pad to locally overheat and cause an under hood fire without warning. i called the dealer where i purchased the truck and they told me that they would have to order more parts and that they could have it buy the middle for the following week. it is now saturday of the following week and now i am told that chrysler is only allowing 5 support brackets a week and that they won't be able to install for at least two weeks. now this is supposed to be a safety issue that could potentially cause an under hood fire. i work construction and have to travel for work, i have a 34 foot 5th wheel that i, my wife and two children live in so we can be where ever the job requires. so what happens when this occurs and me and my family are pulling the 5th wheel down the highway and without warning my engine compartment catches fire, with plenty of air blowing in to fuel a fire surrounded by high pressure fuel lines? how much does it cost to replace the life of myself, my wife, my 4 year old son or my 9 month old daughter? *tr

Tl*the contact owned a 2007 dodge ram 2500. while driving 45 mph, the check engine light illuminated. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the particulate filter was causing the failure. the technician cleaned the filter; however, the check engine light illuminated again a few weeks later. he took the vehicle to the dealer a second time for a computer upgrade that would clear all the codes in the vehicle. the engine light illuminated for the third time and the dealer stated that the vehicle was under a recall, in which they repaired the vehicle for free. the engine light illuminated for the fourth time a month later and the vehicle was returned to the dealer. they performed a second computer upgrade and also replaced the turbo. the engine light illuminated for the fifth time and the dealer replaced a valve and upgraded the vehicle again. at that time, the contact began researching the lemon law. the check engine light illuminated for the sixth and seventh time a month later. after the eighth failure, the dealer offered the contact a new vehicle. the contact now owns a 2008 dodge ram 2500. within the first month of driving the vehicle, the check engine light illuminated. he took the vehicle to the dealer and they performed a computer upgrade. two weeks prior to the upgrade, the check engine light illuminated again. the engine light illuminated for the third time two weeks after the upgrade. the vehicle is currently at the dealer. all the repairs were performed under warranty. the failure mileage was 500 and current mileage was 1,906.

03 dodge ram, 2500 quad cab, 5.7 hemi engine, auto transmission. truck had done this since new in december of 2002, 6 to 10 times. engine would start to shake, shaking the entire truck mostly at start up and/or at idle. would shut key off and restart would be fine. driving back from indianapolis 4/11/07 truck started shaking violently. drove for less than a minute, pulled off to the side of road and truck died, would not restart. towed to a rochester indiana dodge dealer. this was what the rochester dealership told me over 3 weeks. spark packs were corroded and split replaced. compression low in cylinder 5 and no compression in cylinder 8. found broken valve springs in cylinders 5 and 8. note: many truck forum web sites noted that dodge was aware of this in many early 03 models. in hind site it, explains a lot. lot of carbon in the throttle body. catalytic converter replaced, replaced pcm, replaced heads, replaced intake manifold. picked truck up on 5/2/07. the dealer said truck running a little rough because of the additive added to the gas to clean carbon. said to be sure to fill the tank, this was done. driving back home to michigan truck ran very rough. no engine light was on. taken truck to dealer where purchased. service manager said sounded as if it had a miss, asked if engine light was on, i answered no. he took it for a test drive and said that engine light came on before he got it out of the building. my dodge dealer told me cylinder #7 is dead. will have to remove the head to see what is going on. my dealer said that the rochester dealership had forgotten to the rocker arms over the push rods. got the truck back and it seemed to be ok. after driving for about a week and feeling uneasy about it, i traded. the saving grace to all of this was just the fact i had bought the extended warranty and it was covered. *tr

I like others have had my new truck in the dealership more than on the road. i have had my 2007 ram 2500 6.7 in the dealer for seven visits to solve problems with the dpf and emission ck engine light codes. the last was on 9/22 and when i picked up on 9/23 i was told two more tsb-technical service bulletins have come out over night and i would have to bring the truck back for the parts ordered for these tsb's. mt. clemens dodge has been very helpful but dodge can't seem to come up with a solution for the problem. i'm very disappointed in the fact that i've purchased a new vehicle and so many unresolved problems. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the consumer stated the problem started a year ago with the turbo, and the check engine light coming on. also the accelerator would open up to full throttle without any control, unless he cut the engine off. at times the gas pedal would not move at all. the rear brakes locked up and the abs failed. the vehicle pulled to the right, due to the alignment being out of specification. the failure mileage was 12,000 and current mileage was 22,400. updated 04-28-09 *bf the transmission would not go into overdrive. there were times when the vehicle had to hunt for gears and the indicator would disappear on the dash. updated 04/29/09.*jb

Sent to california new motor vehicle board i have owned the vehicle for 183 days as of this letter. it has been in the shop and had r.o.'s open for a total of 64 days. this equates to roughly 35% of my owership time. dodge has not been able to resolve the problems in a reasonable time. although their are x number of ro's regarding the repairs. it is imperitive to understand that i brought the truck back into the dealership while the ro was open as the failure occured again and again. on two occasions the vehicle was in the service aisle dripping from being freshly washed and ready for pickup, as i started the truck the cel came on (check engine light). i have a new truck that has yet to perform the way it was intended. i have been patient, the people at hemet chrysler have been wonderful. however, i am done. the major problem with the truck is the turbo/engine brake system. it has only performed properly for about the first 800-900 miles of ownership. the real issue is when the engine brake would come on whenever it wanted to! doesn't sound too bad, but when your sitting at a 2 way stop waiting for traffic to clear, and then you proceed across the street thinking you have enough time only to find out the engine brake has engaged and you are now wondering if you should abandon the vehicle and run because you could make faster on your feet! after 10-15 episodes it was suggested that i stop the vehicle and turn the engine off, wait 30 seconds and restart the truck whenever this happened. not real practical but ok! next issue same situation; except i am on the freeway traveling 65-70 with the cruise control on, the engine brake comes on and now i am concerned i will be rear ended. there are numerous incidents of safety and functionality. i went to get the truck from the dealership and as i started it the cel came on again. after i left i tried the engine brake and guess what....it no longer works at all!!! this letter was edited down to 2000 characters. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. while driving 65 mph the service engine warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel, and then the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was towed to a chrysler dealer and a technician concluded that the particute filter on the exhaust failed needed to be replaced. the vehicle was in the process of being repaired. however the vehicle has been taken to the dealer six times for identical failures, but the technicians have only patched the component. the failure and current mileages were 27000. updated 11/10/09 *bf updated 11/13/09

We own a 2007 dodge ram 2500 6.7 liter diesel 4 x4 truck, bought with 7311 miles and a full warranty. we bought in january 2008. it has numerous issues that make me literally vomit when i have to drive it. we have had 6 repairs to this vehicle since june 2008 for emission/turbo/wiring/transmission issues. i do not feel safe in this truck and the dealership says they have fixed it everytime. a vehicle that loses engine and transmission power on the highway is not a safe means of transportation. they always tell me it is being taken care of by dodge recall/computer flashes, but this truck has been a nightmare since we bought it. our first issue began in april 2008 with a constant engine warning light blaring at us all the time. the dealer told us it just something these trucks do. it could be one of 200 small things, keep driving it, it's ok. vehicle began stalling and hesitating on me in traffic, i felt it was unsafe and took it to dealership. the first of many 02 sensor recall/replacement/cleanings. it lost power again in august 2008 and i had to be towed in. another 02/turbo issue. again in october 2008 lost power, ditto for repairs. next time it broke down was february 20090. ditto for turbo/emission. most recently was july 2009. engine and transmission stalled out on me pulling onto a busy highway.....twice in one week. dealer couldn't duplicate issue with computer, finally decided it was probably a wiring issue and replaced a harness. i have told the service dept that this vehicle is not safe, and i have complained to chrysler. they tell me it is repaired and that is all they can do. i need help getting this vehicle off of the road. the dealer and chrysler don't seem to think the safety of my children is very important. i hope somebody in your department does. does it take a death or serious accident to have these issues evaluated? *tr

2007 dodge ram 2500 w/ 6.7 diesel has major problem with exhaust system, a dpf (diesel particulate filter) clogs up in as early as 2500 miles and clogs continuously if vehicle is not (driven like you stole it) as suggested to me by dealer, this problem increases exhaust temps, and causes vehicle to cut out and hesitate on take offs and requires constant repair at the dealer, there are aftermarket parts to fix problem but it is recommended for offroad use only. but many of my friends have made the changes and have had no further problems. *tr

I own a 2007 dodge diesel that has a recurring problem with the emission system. it is a common problem that they can't seem to fix. the vehicle meets the lemon law needs but dodge refuses to call me about this. the vehicle has been in the dealership several times. it has had the turbo replaced twice and the computer reprogrammed 3 times. also a couple cleanings for the turbo. *tr

I purchased a 2007 ram 2500 diesel on dec. 31, 2007. it has been in the dealer 9 times for a check engine light and the problem is still unresolved. i am currently dealing with impartial services group on a buyback which has been a nightmare. if there is a place to file a complaint against them i'd sure like to know about it. *tr
