Defect SummaryVehicle description: model 3500 light duty trucks only. operation of the headlamps over an extended period of time can result in headlamp switch failure, causing the headlamps or park lamps to go out.
Consequence SummaryIf the lights fail, a visibility problem could occur, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the headlamp switch including a relay in the park lamp wiring circuit.

 While driving at night consumer noticed that the headlights failed. this caused poor visibility. however, consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to a private mechanic for inspection. mechanic determined that the headlight switch needed to be replaced, and replaced it four times. however, problem recurred. this information was provide by mechanic alan miller.*ak
 Consumer received recall 99v024000 concerning headlight switch. consumer had the headlight switch replaced due fire prior to receiving the recall notice. consumer is seeking reimbursement. *ak
