POWER TRAIN
04/02/20121
On april 2, 2012 i went to a ranch that i work at, put my truck in park, put the brake on, and opened the gate. i drove through and did the same procedure to go to close the gate. my truck popped out of park, ran through it's parking brake, the door knocked me down and the front tire of my dodge 3500 ran over both of my legs and my arm. it broke my legs but did not brake my arm. i am still recovering. at first i thought it was my fault until i learned that this happens a lot and people even die as a result of this injury. it is not one particular kind of vehicle either and the attorney's do not want to even address the issue. the reason it happens is because there is no neutral between park and reverse. also if you had the parking brake attachment in the front brakes as you do on the rear brakes the parking brake would hold when the vehicle rolls backward. my truck rolls without peddle pressure at 6 miles per hour. there is no excuse to not change this requirement, but i am only one person, please help me save lives. in san diego county alone we had in april one death and three injuries. this is unacceptable. i have the idea and i am ase certified mechanic. i do not practice as a mechanic, i am 68 and just could not do the work if i tried especially now. also i do not intend to seek a provisional patent, i just want the problem fixed. please help me help all of us throughout the world. this engineering change needs to happen.  Transmission problem that dodge has know about for years and refuses to repair- automatic transmission, governor solenoid, and sensor causing no transmission up-shift. these have been failing on vehicles for many years and estimates are 4 out of 5 fail before 100,000 miles. you pull out in traffic and you have no up-shift and vehicle fails to accelerate causing crashes. *nm
POWER TRAIN - MANUAL TRANSMISSION

I bought a dodge diesel 1 ton from a private party. after i bought it, the previous owner called it a lemon. he had it into dodge for numerous problems. i have broke down in the truck twice. i left home on 9/3/04 for vacation, i was in a very remote area when i heard a terrible metal noise- it turned out to be the manual transmission. i made it to the dodge dealer, who now wants amost $4000 to replace the transmission. i asked for help from dodge on this repair since the truck only has 82,000 and still has a engine warranty. they are refusing. i did find out that it needs a new cluster gear and the transmission did have oil in it. the truck, aside from regular oil changes, has only been serviced at the dealer. the transmission had to be defective (idle gear is what the dealer service mgr. told me). i decided to have my local shop install a new factory transmission. it will cost me about $3500. i don't even want to own this truck anymore. the dodge call center has been rude and unhelpful. *ak
