Very lucky to be alive. driving my 06 ram 3500 on a surface street next to a ups truck approx 25 mile per hour. just gone through a traffic light and reached a bus stop area where people were waiting for a bus on curb. my truck right side tie rod snapped, and my truck starts to shake violently pulling me to the curb where the people were standing. i could not steer to the left very much because of the truck next to me.i had to brake very hard to keep me from going up onto curb and killing people. luckily my truck just skinned the curb and bounced back on the road just missing the people and the back end of the ups truck next to me. i have had many problems with my truck shaking after hitting small pot holes or uneven roads at most speeds. i have had 4 alignments since i bought this truck. gone through 2 sets of front tires before buying rear tires. well i installed new steering linkage and bought a double steering dampening shocks to help with the shaking. had truck realigned after accident. well 3 months later truck started shaking again and my tires are wearing uneven again. had alignment checked again and was out of alignment. i don't use truck for off road driving, just everyday driving to work and towing small items. got a email the other day from chrysler saying my truck steering linkage was on recall. my repair shop thinks its more then the steering linkage, maybe the pit-man arm too. the repair shop told me that there is a lot of play in it also. he believes its a defect along with the steering linkage. will bring truck in for inspection at dealer.

At parking lot speed, steering control lost. front tires found pointing in opposite directions and steering linkage hanging from truck. at greater speeds or in presence of pedestrians this incident could have been fatal. dealer service department reports: right outer tie rod broken, left & right side upper & lower ball joints defective, drive shaft rear universal joint defective and 1 front drive shaft universal joint defective. total parts cost 2142.71. the truck has 119,331 kilometres (74,149 miles) on it and has only been used for personal transportation. the severity of the defect and the potential for serious injury is alarming. found several recalls for dodge ram steering linkage defects issued by nhtsa (such as 09e001000).

Tie rod end failure at the pitman arm/ inner tie rod conectionon a 2006 dodge ram 3500 quad cab 4x4 truck. the tie rod stud sheared off completely under little to no load after only 23,000 miles of having the h46 recall completed. the angle at which the tie rod end and the pitman arm connect is too extreme. the pitman arm needs to be built with less angle, this would decrese the load on the tie rod end.

When the vehicle reaches 75 miles per hour and it hits a bump the vehicle can begin to wobble from side to side. this wobbling makes the front steering hard to control and creates a safety situation. this happens frequently if i am going the speed limit.

My 2007 dodge ram 3500 shakes violently when driving over a bump, road seam, manhole or other road irregularity at speeds over 40 mph and does not stop shaking until i slow down significantly. the problem appears to occur regularly when driving over bumps on only one side of the truck, e.g. driving over manhole covers that are on the right side of the lane in the road, etc. upon research this issue appears to have been named the death wobble and has happened to other dodge ram pickups. this incident happens frequently, almost once each time the vehicle is driven. it is a very dangerous issue, especially when driving on the highway in traffic; there is often no safe place to pull aside and slow down immediately and slowing down in highway speed traffic, especially in front of large semi trucks is not an option. although there was a recall on this vehicle for the steering linkage, i was told my vehicle did not have the steering linkage issue therefore did not have to be repaired. i have been told the possible causes for this death wobble issue is not a recall item, and i have yet to get the vehicle repaired as the dealerships cannot identify a specific solution and as the vehicle is out of warranty repairs for this issue are not covered by the manufacturer. *tr

2006 dodge mega cab 3500 (4) wheel drive dually started violently shaking while driving on the 215 in las vegas nevada. after hitting a slight bump the truck threw me and my wife side to side in our seats while going about 68mph for no apparent reason. my wife had hit her head against the trucks window due to the truck moving so violently. i later took truck to dealership and was told that these heavy duty dodge trucks have been having problems with its steering. my truck had past the warranty by 5000 miles and was told it would be $1000.00 dollars to replace with more heavy duty components. if this is a manufactures problem, then why are people paying for this? and is dodge waiting for someone to be killed before they categorize this as a recall? my truck which is brand new is currently in operable, and is sitting in my driveway until i can figure out how to give up a $1000.00 dollars to fix a manufactures design faults. *tr
