Vehicle was parked. as i started to back out of a parking spot, i began to turn the steering wheel counterclockwise. the sector shaft on the steering box sheared in half and the pitman arm and drag link fell to the ground. lost complete steering control. let it be noted that this truck is not driven off-road in 4x4 environments. truck has a 4 inch lift and 35 inch tires. wheels are of a factory size. chrysler was asked for assistance in this repair, because of the type of failure and the fact that the vehicle was not within the factory warranty period. the claim was considered but denied because of the oversize tires. no consideration was given. pictures are available. *tr

My 2006 dodge ram 2500 4x4 megacab is experiencing a very violent shaking in front suspension . had a recall and dealer said it did not apply to my vehicle . have tried alignments , new tires, new steering stabilizer dampers , even a frame brace that goes from one frame rail to the other to help stiffen front end . every time you hit a bump it loses control and you have to come to a complete stop so it can stop shaking so violently . if you search the internet you will find hundreds more if not thousands are having the same problem as well . there are even forums on this issue .i know that there is an ongoing investigation on this issue but it covers 2008's and above . older models are experiencing this issue as well . the public is in danger over this issue . dodge should be made liable and held accountable . they need to fix this issue before innocent people get hurt.

I have an 06 dodge ram 2500 megacab 4x4 with 55k miles. the night prior to the incident i parked my truck after my commute home on the interstate. the next morning i was departing my residence to pick up commuters and drive to work on the interstate when my d/s tie rod broke as i turned out of the driveway. my rim and brake splash guard wre damaged from the tie rod striking it. dodge stated there was a tsb correcting steering issues with the vehicle and i could not purchase just the tie rod and i had to purchase the entire steering assembly for over $700 not including labor. it was also recomended the ball joints to be replaced for over $3000. the work has not been completed yet. i will most likely find quality aftermarket parts and do the work myself.

Front end of vehicle started a violent shaking after hitting a transition between asphalt and concrete surfaces at approximately 60 mph. this shaking did not resolve until vehicle was brought to a complete stop. after bringing the truck to the dodge dealer, was told that this is a known problem with the dodge heavy duty trucks, and that the steering components had been redesigned. dealer offered to replace the parts with the new design at my cost - approximately $640. dealer disposed of old parts. *tr
