ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
03/01/201110590
I was driving on a relatively flat road and heard a pop noise from the engine area and the vehicle lost approximately 40 to 60% engine power, i was able to get it to my home less than 5 miles distance, i got it into a shop for repairs and they were not an authorized warranty repair shop, which cost me $404. i then had the vehicle towed to an authorized repair facility approximately 35 miles away.

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 dodge sprinter. the contact stated the vehicle loses speed at any speed. the vehicle does give any warning before the failure. the dealer replaced the turbo resonator, but the problem continued. the dealer also replaced the air filter and again the problem continues. the dealership acknowledged that the vehicle was losing power, but their recommendations have not corrected the failure. the failure mileage was 30000 and the current mileage was 60000.rl

2006 dodge sprinter 2500 t1 extended passenger approx. 23k miles, 2 years old, under chrysler full warranty 1. vehicle stops running altogether while in drive, total engine cut-out, battery light comes on upon slowing at an intersection, turning a corner at slow rate of speed. you can put van in neutral and immediately re-start it and it runs fine. 2. this tends to happen in the heat of the day with the rear a/c running full blast. this has been happening randomly for 10 months or more, but never in the winter when not running the a/c. there is no way to predict it. it happened twice last weekend, many times off and on before that. the van will tend to be sluggish sometimes in the same circumstances without dying. 3. we have been trying to correct this failure since this spring. we have been to 2 separate dealerships, in and out several times at northwest dodge in houston, and in once for this issue at allen samuels dodge in katy, tx. the van has had full tune up, replace turbo resonator, checking of battery and alternator issue, checking all codes, checked for wire chafing in particular areas. all to no avail. the dealers cannot fix because they can't duplicate the issue. allen samuels tried very hard for 4 days, looked closely, listened to online sprinter board troubleshooting. the other dealership doesn't care and won't try. this issue is not resolved, nor do we know where to take it. it is a safety hazard to our family as this is a huge passenger vehicle that dies without notice. *tr

I was attempting to pass a big slow moving truck going uphill when my van suddenly lost power. another 18 wheeled truck was behind me also trying to pass the same slow moving truck which was on the right lane. the truck behind me had to slam on his brakes to avoid rear-ending me. i had to wait until the truck which i was attempting to pass, passed me so i could go back to the right lane causing irate motorists behind me and causing a lot of safety concerns. it was extremely dangerous and i was traveling with wife and two kids. *tr

We bought a brand new 2006 dodge sprinter and the engine just blew at 115,000 miles. this is unheard of in diesel engines. the vehicle was plagued from the start and the dealership clearly admitted it was cursed and we should have got more than 115,000 miles out of it, yet no one wants to assume responsibility for the defects. *tr

SEAT BELTS
05/27/201018000
The seat belt retractor and srs lockup assembly in the 2006 dodge/ mercedes sprinter van is prone to complete failure in hot climates. the return spring and lockup housing is made of plastic which becomes disfigured and is rendered inoperable and therefore unsafe, leaving the front occupants unknowingly unprotected. many owners have replaced srs retractors with aftermarket belts. unsuspecting owners must be notified of this impending failure.
