| Defect Summary | Ducati is recalling certain model year 2011 diavel motorcycles manufactured from september 23, 2010, through may 12, 2011. the brass inserts installed in the chain guard may deform over time, resulting in the possible loosening of the license plate holder retaining screws on the rear swing-arm. this situation could cause the license plate holder to become loose during normal operation of the motorcycle. | |||||||||||||||

| Defect Summary | Ducati is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 multistrada 1200, and model year 2011, diavel motorcycles. the electronic steering lock may fail to disengage during the motorcycle key-on process. this has been linked directly to a certain revision of the hands free device software. it could result in a situation where the motorcycle's engine might start while the steering lock is still engaged. a rider could start the motorcycle and attempt to ride away while the steering is still locked. | |||||||||||||||

| The motorcycle has stalled four times in the last 5 months. typically stalls when down-shifting. the last time it stalled, i was weaving through traffic and when the bike stalled, there was a car right on my rear (scared me to death) - luckily i was able to steer into the median (and there was no obstacles in the median). i've asked my dealer to look into it. they have not been able to reproduce the problem. i am not the only one having this problem. there is a forum with 23 pages of threads on this topic. also, ducati had a recall on the multistrada for the same issue. the multistrada is the same engine as the diavel. | |||

| Tl- the contact owns a 2011 ducati diavel. the contact stated the vehicle bolts that hold the rear tail light assembly came loose. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and had a new assembly order for the vehicle. the dealer did not have a reason for the bolts failing. the contact feel this is a safety issue because the light assembly rested on the tail pipe and melted. the failure mileage and current mileages were 400.rl | |||
