This investigation was opened based on odi's receipt of a congressional letter on behalf of a constituent.the constituent reported incidents where the slide out room of his motor home would inadvertently move (extend) during highway use.odi was concerned that a fully extended slide out would degrade the vehicle's dynamic handling characteristics and/or possibly impact an object or another vehicle, resulting in a crash.odi contacted fleetwood and discovered that slide out rooms were installed in motor homes, travel trailers and folding trailers. as part of the investigation odi visited a rv show and the fleetwood paxinos plant to examine slide outs in various new make and model vehicles and gain an understanding of how the systems work.during the investigation odi learned that there are two methods used to extend slide out rooms.some manufacturers use hydraulic systems and others, such as fleetwood, use an electric motor.  This is our second complaint on this problem first one was early october 2009 and the odi id# is 10287151 for the first complaint. we had total brake failure on our fleetwood bounder yesterday 11/29/09 that has a break recall on it and workhorse chasis refuses to fix. the brakes failed, brake pedal went to the floor, alarm sounded, abs light came on and also light stating brake failure,. fortunately we were not going very fast and there was an area we could pull over after gearing down. we called workhorse chasis this morning and was told to drive carefully to your dealer and we are now at the dealer and we are being told that workhorse is refusing to pay for our brakes unless they are completely burned up. this is the second attempt to get workhorse and the dealer to honor this recall last time we had to pay to have the brakes inspected which was early october 2009. *tr

TRAILER HITCHES

The hitch that is factory installed broke away from the rv due to it not being properly welded to the frame. our jeep broke completely away from the rv while we were driving the vehicle. we had a certified welder repair the rv and we also have pictures of the defective weld. we have attempted to work this out with fleetwood since the incident, but they keep giving us the runaround. they say the welder was a subcontactor for the factory and they will need to contact them. this was last year and they still will not return our calls. *tr
