While driving my motor home which is built on a 1999 ford chassis i lost power and had to coast to the side of the road. it did not shut completely off but i had no power to control the speed.i turned the vehicle off and tried to start it and it started.as we drove off it ran fine the rest of the trip home.when i was home i scheduled to have it serviced by my local ford dealer.they put it on their scanner and found two codes.the codes were cleared and they test drove it and rescanned it and it was ok.on 23 feb 2011 it was in the shop for the same problem and it was scanned a code came up and a sensor was replaced.the next morning it was test driven and retest was ok.the following week i took off on a trip to florida from pa.the first time it lost power was on the beltway around washington dc.i continued to have this problem off and on the whole trip down to florida.when we pulled off to the side of the road each time it happened i would shut the vehicle down and it would restart and drive away till the next time i lost power.we decided to cut our vacation short and try to get home. we tried to drive at times when traffic was not heavey because it was at times becoming a bit unsafe. we mostly tried to stay off the interstate roads. but could not always do that.we fortunately got home ok.on march 25,2011 i had it to the dealer again and they test drove it a number of times and checked for codes and nothing came up.i recently had the fuel pump replaced and i have the same problem with it loosing power while i am driving .i am afraid to drive the vehicle as i feel it is not safe.
