STRUCTURE - BODY

With the coach empty except for full fuel, full lp and driver, the front axle weight is 4440 lbs. this leaves only 160 lbs of weight before exceeding the gawr on the front axle. therefore, a medium weight person sitting on the passenger side could exceed this weight before any other supplies are loaded on the coach. this is a major safety problem that i am not willing to live with and should not have been sold with these minimal cargo carrying weights. *ak
TIRES
09/08/2002407/01/2000
New tire due to warranty exchange, less than 2000 miles on rear tires of motorhome. traveling on fwy approximately 65 mph and passanger rear inside tire blew-out. complete tread separation and sidewall blowout. air pressure checked prior to leaving on trip less than 150 miles prio to blow-out. this tire and 3 others, same size and brand, had just been replaced due to weather cracking of prior tires. prior tires had less than 15,000 miles on them before replacement. luckily no crash, due to the blowout happening on crowded sunday afternoon freeway traffic in southern california. what do we do, as we have no confidence in firestone tires and want to replace with other brand, but would like compensation from firestone towards purchase of new tires?*ak

TIRES - VALVE
10/13/20071
The inside dual class d tire of a 23 foot motorhome (approximately 10,000 pounds) went flat due to cracking failure of the valve stem. instead of remaining intact, since it was supported by the other dual tire, the flat tire developed a 12 inch sidewall split where it meets the tread. above the mid-range of the split the tread separated from the tire exposing a 3x6 inch section of steel belts. i observed on the inside of this tubeless tire flex fractures, that had severed the cord of the sidewall but not the outer rubber, extending several inches beyond the ends of the split. the cord and rubber of this tire seems to be brittle and could not hold up even under the stress of dual tire use. the tire has the dot ut1l b3c 3705, so this splitting and tread loss was not due to age or excessive use. *tr
