Weld broke on wheel on our rv and damaged the driver side of our 5th wheel and rolled down the road the entire center of the wheel came un welded on august 9, 2009 we were on vacation with our rv and as we pulled out of a rv camp ground a wheel came off our 5th.wheel and of course did significant damage. fortunately we were not on the highway doing 55mph and it did not damage anything but our coach. this was caused by a defective wheel as you will see from the enclosed picture. the problem is the manufacturer tredit wheel and tire out of elkart, indiana said this was just a fluke and refused to check or replace any of the other wheels there for leaving the liability on the consumer. i will have new wheels put on the coach to prevent the possibility of another defect and possibly injuring another person. i will have the remaining old wheels inspected for any other defects. i would like to know is there any government regulations regarding safety of vehicle wheels and should this company be investigated for quality assurance so this does not happen to someone else and maybe injure or kill a bystander or another motorist. it was told to us that this was a usa manufactured wheel i am unable to attach the picture with this e-mail. *tr |
