| I have a 2000 ford contour that i purchased in 2000 while i lived in nh. in early 2001, i moved out of nh and to ma. last year, i started to pay attention to a very noticeable warping in my dashboard. the dashboard has started to pull away from the windshield. the black venting piece is no longer connected and could become lose and serve as a projectile in an accident. my front windshield no long defrosts properly which can cause problems with seeing while driving. i just found out that there was a recall in 2001, and i can only assume that the notice was somehow sent to my old address. *jb | |||

| The vent bracket on the dash became loose and was about to fall off when i removed it from the car. the dash pad began to shrink and pull away from the instrument panel and dash immediately after we got the car. the manufacturer discontinued to provide a replacement in 2004. there was a repair campaign for a 6 month period--before i owned the car. i would like ford to provide a replacement part to me at no cost. i will install it. this is a safety issue because the defroster is blocked by the leading edge of the shrinking dash pad; part of the driver's vision is blocked; the grille is dangerous if it becomes loose in the car; the airbag deployment will be interfered with unless there is a remedy. *jb | |||

| Dash warped on 2000 ford contour. i bought the car new in feb. of 2001 and had the dash replaced once already when it was covered under ford's warranty. the 2nd time it happened ford refused to help as my warranty had expired. the dash is severely warped to the point where it's hitting the windshield. considering my height, it has certainly had an effect on my vision of the road. it also has an adverse impact on the defroster function. the front of the dash is now beginning to warp as well just above the steering wheel. numerous owners of this vehicle have complained about this problem but ford refuses to help. please help!!!!*jb | |||

| Foam cover on dashboard has warped. edge nearest windshield has curled up and is now touching windshield at least 5 inches from base. warped dashboard blocks air from defroster resulting in safety hazard as visibility is significantly reduced especially in cold weather. this is the result of a known defect (tsb 01b78). ford had an owner notification program in place but i never received a letter despite owning the car and having it registered at the time. a supervisor at the ford customer relationship center told me that it must have been lost in the mail. i was told that the repair offer has now expired. this is no longer an aesthetic problem as the blockage of the defroster severely compromises safety. *jb | |||

| I own a 2000 ford contour. the dash is warped and the front defroster vent is no longer functional. this causes the windshield to fog up in humid or foggy weather. ford had a recall for this problem, but it is no longer valid. i am the third owner of this vehicle. the previous owners did not have the dash fixed under recall. ford requires for me to pay for the repair and or replacement of the dash. *jb | |||

| Dash warping, all models do that after time (3 months or less) causes defrost vents to blow air in an improper location replacement of dash is only fix, but will warp again after replacement. *jb | |||

| I have a 2000 ford contour svt with dashboard curl. the dashboard is deformed above the gauge pod in front of the driver. if it continues, it could begin to somewhat block the driver's view. i put in today's date for the incident simply because i have no idea when the curl started. it was like that when i bought the car a couple years ago and has progressed to where it is today. *jb | |||

| The dashboard, which was once recalled, the recall has since expired. is delaminating off the foam , preventing proper defrosting of windshield and hindering view out of front window. the fuel pump which was recalled on other ford models for exactly the same problem, fails, preventing acceleration onto highways. the water pump, which is plastic, disintergrates in the motor.*jb | |||

| The dashboard is lifting up and you can see where the glue was holding it in place and now it is getting worse and when we contacted ford dealership they said they will fix it at a cost to me that there is no recall on this even as bad as it has become since winter has come and the heater is being used now. it started to get bad when the air conditioner was on. i also had the back window frosted up when it got cold out and all windows were shut at the time, cause the car was just sitting in the drive overnight. | |||

| The dashboard became detached from the car. found out that there was a recall after it had expired. we were never notified of the recall. the car is very hard to drive because the dashboard is warped and is so high up it is hard to see over. ford is a piece of junk company and will not do anything about this. i will never buy another ford vehicle again. they are a terrible company and will not deal with the problems of their cars. gee,,,,i wonder why they stopped making the contour????? *jb | |||

| Instrument panel foam and skin peeled back blocking passenger side air bag door. ford had a customer program to repair until june22, 2002. defect did not appear until after program ended. customer letter was never presented to owner as letter was sent before purchase. ford will no longer cover repair.ford has been advised that airbag is effected . local dealer reports 8 current owners have condition and are not covered by ford repair. mr | |||

| Customer satisfaction program number 01b78. i contacted winner ford and they told me that the offer expired the 31st of august. i don't feel i should have to pay for this to be repaired . i told them that i use my car 6 days a week and could not get it into the office by the cut off date, i also let them know i would never buy another ford product because i was under the understanding that the customer is always right. this is a safety hazzard and all i would like for them to do is fix it. mr | |||
