While the vehicle was in park, with no keys in the ignition, a small child grabbed the gear shifter. with only slight pressure, the vehicle slipped out of gear and rolled backwards down a hill, wedging a 16 year old female in the rear driver's side door, then pinning the female between two vehicles. the female was pronounced dead at a local hospital several hours later, as a result of the injuries received from the vehicle.*jb

On 12/4/96 my vehicle's transmission started slipping.it was still under warranty at that time.it was taken into the ford dealership, where we were told that they had been having problems torque converters on these vehicles.a tork flush was performed and they told us everything would be ok.the vehicle has 30,000 at that time.on 6/2/99 we started experiencing the same problem.it again was taken into the ford dealership, where again they stated the tork converter was bad and they told us again that a tork flush would be needed.the vehicle at this time had 70,000.i addressed the problem at that time and asked why the transmission could not be repaired vs. just a tork flush.i was told ford motor will only flush. on 12/18/00 my vehicle again started experiencing problems. it would now not go into drive. the car has 90,000 on it now. the vehicle was taken to the shop and i was told that the whole transmission is out. on several occasions i have expressed my concern regarding flushing vs actually checking into the transmissions and still was told that ford will not do that, they will only do the flush. now i'm stuck with a car with only 90,000 on it and a transmission that has to be completely rebuilt. what ever happened to ford stands behind their product or your satisfaction is our #1 goal. i have called customer service on several occasions and to date i have not once gotten a call back. i have decided that the only way to rectify this problem is to voice my concern my going public on tv. we have a tv station here called call for action maybe that is my next step. calling and expressing myself to ford does not seem to help. if ford really stood behind their vehicles, i would not be sitting with a car with only 90,000 miles on it with a blown transmission. if the problem would have be corrected in 1996 when i originally reported the problem, then maybe i would still be driving the car.i love my car, its ford motor company i am not happy with.

Had to take car to dealer 3 times with transmission trouble car would not shift to the next gear each time the dealer advised the problem was with the computer system and i had to pay for the work done and then the transmission went out at 600098 mi (98 over the 60,000 mi warranty) and dealer would not cover car had to have and pay for a new transmission then 1 month later the engine had to be replaced again the dealer would not be responsible the shop that put the new engine in said it was caused by the computer system and that alot of cr vics from the 1993 year (1st year for that model) had trouble (ex the police cars in memphis) after having a new transmission and engine the car did fine until 0301200 had to have a new transmission again and the shop is unable to make it right due to the computer system, this shop put a 2nd transmission in 06/2000 and said i had engine problems reason for transmission trouble. this car is a lemon and has multiple defects evidently with the computer system. *ak

Transmission and brake failure/lock-up on a vehicle that has been babyed and meticulously maintained is outrageous. i cannot get ford motor co. to return my calls. i can only imaginr what kind of horrific accident would have occurred if we had been driving at highway speeds. dealer's shop also had a 95, 97, & 98 crown vics. w/ transmission failure. i suspect ford is trying to cover up a defect.
