95V189000FORD MOTOR COMPANYfrom 08/01/1994 to 11/01/1994V (Vehicle)4500011/15/1995MFRFORD MOTOR COMPANY10/02/199510/04/1995
Defect SummaryThese vehicles were built with the non-cycling power window circuit breaker and the cycling headlamp circuit breaker interchanged.
Consequence SummaryIn the event of a short or overload in the headlampcircuit, both headlamps can go out without warning, rather than flashing as intended with the cycling circuit breaker. this could lead to reduced night time driver visibility, increasing the potential for a vehicle accident.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect these vehicles, remove the circuit breaker and reinstall the breaker in the correct locations.
NotesSystem: electrical; fuse and recepticle; circuit breaker.vehicle description: passenger vehicles.note: owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact ford at 1-800-392-3673. also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-800-424-9393.

The front suspension ball joints were replaced at my cost. they had started squeaking and were worn badly. my mechanic suggests that the entire front suspension be rebuilt for safety because ford does not have grease joints on any these parts. when the horn button was pushed for longer than a few seconds, it used to blow the fuse. the last time it did this, it also disabled the cruise control. i was told by my mechanic the only fix was to replace the steering column where these wires were shorting together internally.*ak
