 The fars data shows that the risk of fire from impact in all directions in the subject vehicles is the same as all other sedans.the subject vehicles are not over represented with respect to the risk of fire in real-world high-energy crashes.a further discussion of issues related to post crash fires in the subject vehicles is set out in the closing report for sq 01-014 and that report is in the docket for this petition.after reviewing the petition and its supporting materials, as well as information furnished by ford and gm, and information within the agency's possession from previous investigations and other related actions,nhtsa has concluded that futher investigation concerning post-crash fires in the subject vehicles is not likely to lead to a decision that the vehicles contain a safety defect.

 Consumer states he was in a parking lot when the vehicle suddenly accelerated, both feet were on the brake, however the vehicle would not stop resulting in crashing into the right rear quarter panel of another vehicle. *slc

 On one occasion it accelerated while driving at about 70 mph and had to be turned completely and restarted and the problem was cured no accident happened at that time. the second time it occurred when driving into a parkiing lot, and it accelerated and ran into a guard post. time. the second time turning into a parking lot and it. *ak

 Dt: contact stated while starting the vehicle it revved. when placing the vehicle into drive it did this almost causing an accident. the service dealer did some repairs to the vehicle, but it did not remedy the problem. at first it would do this when the vehicle was cold, but the service dealer replaced an iac valve. currrently it does it when the vehicle is hot or cold. *ak

 Tl*the contact owns a 2001 ford crown victoria. the contact received a ford recall notice for the vehicle speed control: cruise control in october of 2007 and immediately called the dealer. the dealer informed him that they did not know when the parts would be available; however, they deactivated his wiring harness. he received a new notice in march of 2008 stating that the parts were available. he contacted the dealer and they stated that he would have to personally order the parts if he wanted his vehicle repaired. there had been no failure to date. the recall number was unknown. the current mileage was 95,650. updated 4/2/08 *cn updated 04/02/08 *tr
