I own a 2005 f350 power stroke diesel pickup and have been throughly discouraged by ford lack of admission to the engine problems. i have not been involved in an accident, however, i feel that the consumer needs to know the problems with the 6.0 litre powerstroke. i have heard many stories of consumer problems and yet ford denies the problems. i think that ford is trying to make a silent recall because a full recall will hurt them financially. please investigate as to the problems with this engine.*ak

2005 e450 super duty van stalled resulting in a auto crash with serious injuries. *ts attorney is investigating an accident on behalf of an injured passenger who was riding in the vehicle that crashed head on into a light pole after the vehicle stalled and lost power steering. the attorney found recall 05s34 which indicated that the fuel injector control module (ficm) wire harness may chafe on engine bolt potentially resulting in electric short. the attorney is trying to determine if the previous owner or operator ever received the recall, by ford, it's dealer or anyone else. *nm

We rented a 2005 mercury mountaineer from hertz rental. while driving, the rear window in the hatchback kept opening. we stopped repeatedly to close the window. we were on vacation traveling from southern california to yellowstone national park. eventually, we bought some duct tape and taped the window shut so that it would not open anymore; however, it did become ajar, but luckily the tape held the window closed. we were fortunate that nothing flew out the window (what if a person was sitting in the rear seat and got injured...????).*jb
POWER TRAIN - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
06/14/201111486
The vehicle does not always go into the correct gear, as indicated on the steering column. when using the automatic gear shift on the column, and placing the vehicle into drive, the vehicle goes into reverse. when the gear shift is moved to reverse, it does not engage and stays in neutral. sometimes, the vehicle will hover in neutral then suddenly engage into 1st gear without moving the gear shift. this issue was brought to ford's attention by us in 2007 (11000 miles) and 2009 (23000 miles), and the ford dealers could not find anything wrong with the linkages. they stated that they adjusted the indicator switch, but this intermittent problem has now returned. this is a safety hazard when maneuvering in parking lots or other areas that require a change of direction. our ford engine is inside a class c motorhome, so we don't have many alternative options for moving the vehicle when it does not go into the correct gear. we are concerned that the car will switch gears while in motion, causing us to lose control.

Vehicle lost power and stopped running while moving at a speed of 55 mph. vehicle dangerously skid to a complete stop in the middle of a busy highway, unable to drive onto shoulder. had to be towed into dealership. vehicle purchased on 06/14/2005 for $58,000, incident happened 07/08/2005, and vehicle is still in shop as of 08/01/2005. the vehicle only had 3,700 miles on it when this happened. dealership said the torque converter went out. this vehicle was to be used to transport tourist safely to and from our tour location. i purchased this new vehicle for reliability and safety. it is neither reliable nor safe. after viewing this website i found that i am not the only person with a complaint about a defective torque converter, transmission, etc. on a 2005 ford e450 with less than 4,000 miles on it. this is totally unacceptable. *jb

I have a 2005 jayco 30ft. motorhome with a 2005 ford e-450 chassis and the 6.8l v-10 engine. i am on a trip from georgia to vermont with this unit and am towing a 2008 saturn vue. on tuesday june 21, while traveling at aprox. 60mph on i-85n in s. carolina, i had a complete and unexpected engine shut down while in a heavy traffic condition. i was able to pull over against the guard rail in an unsafe condition, and shut the ignition off and tried to restart the engine. it started up immediately and i continued driving for another 5 hours. on wednesday june 22 while driving on i-81n in virginia the same situation occurred, and once again i was able to get onto the shoulder and shut down the engine and restart. as before, i was able to drive for another 5-6 hours without any problem. upon arrival at my scheduled stopover campground, and fully aware as to how potentially dangerous this condition could be, i stopped my trip and contacted
