Foul odor in cabin after stopping vehicle. smells like burning oil or other fluids. internet search reveals possible manufacturer defect related to leaking ptu in awd vehicles causing fluid to leak on to exhaust piping resulting in this odor. the smell is very nauseous and prolongs exposure could make passengers feel ill and safety concerns with breathing in these fumes is questioned.

After driving the vehicle for 20 minutes it began to slow down and the more gas (peddle pressure) we gave it the slower it continued. it felt as though it was chugging' along and 'sputtering'.

Ongoing transmission issues since purchased new. been to repair for more than 17 days and issues still remain unresolved. took car in for regular scheduled oil changes and repairs.at approximately 30,000 miles the camphasers ( ford admitted wrong camphasers had been installed) were replaced. coolant problem discovered as well when vehicle engine was removed. odd odor coming from heater, when vehicle returned after camphaser and collant issue did not resolve situation, and vehicle returned to galpin ford service, was told that axle and bearing were broken and that the stering wheel was not in proper position. i am deeply concerned for other ford edge owners as well as members of the public who may be affected by vehicle that does not properly engage and appears to stall before moving forward.... this is an enormously serious issue, that should not be ignored. reading the prior complaints, tells me this is not a new problem, and that consumers and ford are aware of the transmissions issues. please assist.

Purchased 2008 ford edge limited in august '10. 1 previous owner, 26k, mint condition. supposedly battery was replaced upon purchase. within 1 week after purchase up until present date, numerous complaints/comments were placed to 2 different ford dealerships regarding a 'hiccup' while the vehicle is stationary and idiling (random and intermittent). 1 dealership serviced the car end of august and found no problem. 2nd dealership serviced vehicle on october 13 and 14 and couldn't find problem. vehicle broke down 1st time the day after it had been serviced, october 15th- lost complete acceleration but not battery power. noticed wrench light and airbag lights were illuminated on dashboard as well as odo...error. turned car off and then on and when placed in 'drive', heard a loud noise and car jerked, no acceleration, same situation when car placed in park. dealership inspected vehicle and stated that battery terminals were completely loose (mechanic never tightened terminals upon replacement of battery and dealership admitted liability/negligence) and 'severly' corrodid. since 1st break down, same hiccup (random, intermittent) is felt and more complaints/comments were placed to both dealerships. car was scheduled to go back for another service visit for complaint but vehcile broke down for 2nd time prior to service date with dealership.november 19th, vehcile lost acceleration, wrench and airbag lights were illuminated on dashboard and 'odo...error. attempted to place vehicle in reverse and loud nosie was heard, vehicle jerked and when vehicle was placed in park, same noise and jerk. presently the vehicle is back with the dealership for service.

The 2008 ford edge's automatic transmission doesn't engage properly. when on any incline or decline, the car will roll when in gear. ford states this isn't a problem its a redesign. when the vehicle is put into drive or reverse, you have to hit the gas for the car to move, it doesn't start rolling when you let off of the brake. if you are backing up a hill in reverse and you let off the brake, the vehicle rolls forward while in reverse, it doesn't pull the car backwards still. if a child runs in front of your car while you're backing up and your head is still turned looking back and when you let off the gas to press the brake to shift from reverse to drive, that child or person could be killed. the transmission could also cause an accident in heavy traffic since you have to hit the gas and brake quickly. my wife was backing up in the rain and had to press the gas pedal to get going backwards and her 2008 ford edge accelerated too much and she hit my truck and after she had hit my truck that is when the backup sensors went off. there are many people that have brought this to ford's attention and the possible dangers and everyone gets the same answer from ford all over the country. ford states this isn't a problem, this is a new design and each of us are the first ones to have a problem and no one else has complained about it. someone should seriously look into the 2008 ford edge automatic transmission before someone is killed.
