AQ10001FORD MOTOR COMPANY11/18/2010Fleet Vehicle Recall Completion Audit
The agency, particularly in recent months, has been informed of incidents involving allegations of personal injury and death claimed to have been caused by safety defects and failures to conform to minimum federal motor vehicle safety standards (fmvss) on rental car vehicles for which a safety recall to remedy the safety defect or noncompliance had allegedly not been performed prior to the rental car company's lease of the vehicle.nhtsa understands that there is presently a petition before the federal trade commission (ftc) seeking to prohibit at least one rental car company from renting vehicles on which safety recall campaign remedies remain outstanding.the purpose of this audit query (aq) is to investigate recall remedy completion by rental car companies on the above-listed safety recall campaigns.these campaigns were chosen due to their inclusion of vehicles used in the rental market.this information is expected to provide the agency an indication of how completely and how quickly rental car fleets, in general or individually, perform necessary recall-related repairs or other remedies on the vehicles owned and then leased for use on the roadways.this aq is opened.

I removed several bags from the back of my escape (by opening the door), not opening the glass. after closing the door, i was gathering the items when the glass suddenly shattered. it was a cool morning (low 30's, the rear defroster had been on during a ~5 minute drive to work), but the glass had not been touched, opened or otherwise impacted. my hand was cut by the glass. i later learned that several other years of this model have had this problem, but there was no recall for this model year.

In aug 2012 we were on our way back from a vacation and our abs light came on, along with a flashing 4x4 light. we had no idea what it was or what to do. the vehicle drove fine and stopped fine, except for a couple of times it felt as if the abs engaged on dry cement. we stopped to eat and shop for a few hours and the lights were off when we got back in the vehicle. they didn't come on again until a few days ago (jan 2013). however, i had been complaining to my husband recently that the breaks didn't seem to work right. i hit ice and the abs didn't engage ..no light either..but the grinding sound once in awhile was still there. so we took it in and put it on the computer to diagnose the problem. came back with 2 codes u2023 and c1234. which means the right front tone ring is bad. after searching the internet, i found this to be a very common problem. also got under the truck and sure enough the tone ring is cracked and spinning around loosely. the safety issue here is the abs will lock up randomly on dry cement when you start to apply your breaks. which then you can't completely control your vehicles direction and if you take your foot off the break to control your vehicle, then you may hit someone or something. i am thankful for all the info i have found so when it gets repaired they can't screw me over.

My car's gas pedal felt like it became stuck, almost feeling like the car was in neutral even though it was in drive. i was on a hill. then suddenly it sped off fast with a jolt. our mechanic said it needs a new throttle. after doing research on my car's make & model, it appears that this has been an ongoing concern. it's very dangerous.

While traveling northbound on interstate 476 car suddenly lost power and would refuse to accelerate over 10 mph. luckily it was early on a sunday morning, and not high-traffic time, we successfully pulled the car over to the shoulder. our mechanic has been working on and reseaching the issue. turns out ford is aware and has issued a service bulletin that the computer is faulty, and affects the catalytic converters, spark plugs, and coils. a quick search on car complaints told us we were not the only ones, and it appears to be a time rather than mileage failure. while most are complaining about the minimum $2,000 fix, we are thankful it did not cause harm to us or anyone else. how many 2005 ford escapes are on the roads these days?

I own a ford escape 2005 four dour 4wd that has been every 2-3 years in the shop for coils and computer damage. ford has a problem with these cars and the problem is that last friday i was driving on a main road when all of a sudden my car just died while i am driving in a 50 mile zoned road. luckily, i was able to quickly manuever the vehicle to a safe spot. iwas informed that it will cost $2700 to replace the computer that was shorted out due to the coils going bad - i had the coils changed two times since 2007 ford knows about this problem ford srb 09.2.6 and tsb 09-2-6 ignition coil problem that so many others are having with this car - the car stalls always when driving 50 or more on a main road or highway and it is very dangerous to all of a sudden lose power on a highway at high speeds and not being able to even move the steering wheel to glide your car safely to the side of the road due to the steering locking up because the car dies totally. the computer codes that show up are p0351 -p0354 and some other ones that i didnt write down when i was talking to the thompsons mechanic. i cant believe that this year and model wasnt recalled - according to thompsons, there is a back order for the computer module for this car, two weeks minimum due to so many escapes 2005 needing this same computer because it was shorted out prematurely and unsafely. it never happens when you drive less than 50 so this is strange and very dangerous.i would like ford to repay us the damages and costs that us customers, have dished out reoccuring every 2-3 years. coils should not have to be replaced that many times nor should the plugs and absolutely not the computer. please look into this and make ford do a recall and retroactive since they already have so many complaints about this same problem but they dont want to or refuse to do a mass recall.

I was driving up to a stop light so i removed my foot from the gas and to the break, before i could get to the red light it changed to green, i went to press on the gas and the pedal was stuck. it would not go down nothing. i coasted to the side of the busy highway kept trying to press it and it wouldn't go down. after about 5 mins of just sitting there i tried it again and it went down without a problem. this vehicle was recalled in the prior years for this exact issue 2004 and below. however my 2005 is not recalled. it is now at the ford dealership and i am waiting on a cost estimate. the vehcile did tend to do this from time to time only when its cold outside. i took it in several years ago to be repaird and when they test drove it, it woudn't stick for them so no issue was found for them to repair.

Recurrent problem: the sudden inability to accelerate because the gas pedal won't budge. the throttle cable is binding somewhere. a couple of years ago the throttle cable snapped on our 2005 ford escape, breaking off behind the accelerator pedal inside the cabin. (we had taken the car in for this hard-to-press-gas-pedal problem when the car was very new, and at the time the dealership did not discover the cause and could not reproduce the problem.) after it snapped, the cable was replaced by the ford dealership at our (considerable) expense. now the gas pedal is once again refusing to budge several times on each drive, and we have to take the vehicle in again for inspection. the sudden inability to accelerate increases the likelihood of rear-end collisions. if the throttle cable binds as you're merging onto a highway, a high speed rear-end collision could occur. if you're unable to accelerate as you're crossing a road where cross traffic does not have to stop, you can be a sitting duck for a broadside collision.

Hi- i have a 2005 ford escape. i bought it used. just recently i started to hear a banging in the back rear of the cab part of the car. i found out the shock mounts are rusted out, and i feel like this is a safety issue due to the fact that the car could fall apart while driving or catch fire. i researched this and found it a common problem.

1fmyu02z45ke49241 2005 ford escape xls, fwd had issue with throttle body. it got to the point where i would have to stop the gas pedal just to make it accellerate from a stopped state. this first happened back in november of 2011, and now i can feel it start to get to that point again... i was able to clean it last year with b-12 chemtool which took care of it right away. it was completely gunked but worked like new once i had it cleaned. guess it is time to do this again... i figured i would report this after seeing a news article on abc regarding the exact same things.

Had light warning of brake failure. investigation discovered broken ring with teeth on front axle that senses wheel rotation. part is called tone ring ford part #7l8z-2c182-b. this causes a failure of the abs and traction control system. internet search showed this as a very common problem with all year ford escapes and is a very bad design. this $32 part causes a $300 parts and labor cost since recommended fix is to replace a perfectly good axle. it appears to be caused by expansion and contraction of the ring and rust between the axle and the pressed on ring.

Car sits in the driveway and when it is turned on, especially in the winter, the accelerator sticks to the point that i have to put full force to jam the pedal down to take off. if i am at a light and stopped, the same thing happens. i have the repair shop fix this issue twice but decided to lodge a complaint based upon news reports. i have not had any other issue with the suv and i love my ford. i am not sure that his is a safety issue and i have been trying to find out.

When the weather gets cold, the gas pedal sticks. this seems to only happen when the car is cold. you start out driving and all of a sudden the pedal won't move. you can't accelerate at all. the pedal is stuck. after a few minutes and the car warms up the pedal usually will start moving again. we have had mechanics look at it and they can't find any problems. however when they get the car it's usually warm. one mechanic thought it was related to the cruise control panel. this has been going on for years. i made sure there was no floor mat interferring too. luckily we have not been in a situation where it would cause a crash. when it happens, you have no choice but to sit on the side of the road and wait for the pedal to free itself.

Driving along at 50-55mph on busy road at rush hour. 2005 escape was running smoothly and all of a sudden there was a rumbling vibration and then it completely lost power and stopped. fortunately, i was driving in the right lane and was approaching a traffic light. managed to turn right at the intersection to get out of heavy flow of traffic. was able to start the car again but the rumbling continued and the car had no pick up. took vehicle to my mechanic. machine indicated a and c coils were bad. replaced a and c coils, problem still. mechanic said it might be the computer but said take car to ford dealer for diagnostic check to be sure. took car to a ford service dept. for diagnostic. was told that the problem was in the a and c coils and plugs. when i said i already had those replaced, he immediately said then those parts must be bad and/or the wires are bad and they would have to trace all wires to find bad ones and replace them. the estimated cost for the repair $1100. i asked if the problem could be the computer. service rep said, oh, no computer is not the problem. paid $100 for diagnostic check. took car back to my mechanic, he traced all the wires and did not find a single bad wire. according to my mechanic, the only other thing it could be, based on the way the car is acting, is the computer. i priced a computer. it costs about $495. so the quote from the dealership now makes more sense considering that the cost of the computer is about half of the $1100 they said it would cost to trace wires and replace plugs and coils. so based on the ford service dept diagnosis, converstaion and quote, ford knows this is a problem with the 2005 ford escapes. my daughter and i could have been severely injured or killed because the car stopped suddenly while we were moving at 50 mph. this is a manufacture/assembly defect that should be recalled.

March 2011. i was driving down the highway and my vehicle acted like a hiccup or misfire. i thought it was a fluke, but it happened again a few miles later then all of the sudden, it started chugging really bad and eventually died. it was after midnight on a very low traveled area and i had my two year old in the car with me.. luckily it started back up and i was able to drive a few more miles (thank god) to a hotel for the night. if this would have happened 45 minutes earlier....i would have been an hour to the nearest town! not a great feeling with a toddler in the car, an unfamiliar road, and after business hours. come to find out it was the coil packs at first, so we replaced two of them like the mechanic suggested. then they called and said that didn't fix the problem and we now needed a new computer. not knowing any different, we replaced the computer. just last friday the same exact thing happened to me....so this would be six coil packs and two computers in a year.....not happy! we do not have the money to keep making repairs like this. not a huge ford fan at this point...and very sick to my stomach to read soooo many complaints about similar situations from others all across the country. there are a lot of hard working people out there who can't afford to have vehicle malfunctions like we're having. someone is going to get killed if they haven't already with this uncertain problem occuring! please do something!

I bought my escape in june 2004. around/approximatley 2006 my gas pedal started to stick as i was driving from time to time. i got stuck in the intersection one morning and couldnt get the pedal unstuck. when i finally did i drove the car over the capitol ford in san jose, ca. and told them what was happening. when ford test drove the car, they said they couldnt find nothing wrong with it. i told them something was wrong with the gas pedal and i was not driving it off the lot until they found the problem with the gas pedal. the next day they called and said the pedal was sticking and they had to replace the throttle body. ford covered because i was under warranty. on 12/6/2011, my pedal started to stick again this time i was on the freeway. stuck 4 times. i took it back to the same ford and told them my pedal was getting stuck i had this problem in 2006 and this shouldnt be happening and they needed to do something about it. i got the song and dance of how the car was out of warranty and they would give me an estimate and i could pay to get it fixed. after inspecting ford said the throttle body was bad again. after stating my case with them this should not be happening they got ford involved to see it they would cover. ford came back and said no. there was nothing they could do becuase it was out of warranty. again i explained this is not a warranty issue this is a safety issue and people could be serioulsy injured. ford didnt want to budge and kept using the warranty excuse. so i had no choice but to pay and get this fixed. this is not right. ford needs to take responsibilty for their cars and the safety of their customers. this needs to be addressed to ford.

The gas pedal sticks. it can not be pushed. at first, it only happened when the engine was cold & the temperature was cold. now it happens all the time, regardless of temperature. it almost caused an accident when it happened in the middle of an intersection. there is also an issue with muliple broken tone rings and oil leaks.

Driving along interstate engine suddenly lost power, would not go above 20mph, no check engine light. took to repair shop and first catalytic converter completely clogged, number 2 converter partially clogged. vehicle only has 84,000 miles. warranty expired at 80,000 miles for exhaust. repair shop this happens a lot for these vehicles.

Catylitic converters and flex pipe the catylitic converters have been diagnosed as having significant restriction to cause dramatic power loss to the vehicle while driving. this condition causes abnormal backpressures in the exhust system which also causes multiple misfires and sets the check engine light. the flex pipe is also defective and leaks. i have owned many ford vehicles through the years. one was a 1994 lincoln town car with over 400,000 miles. another was a 1998 town car with over 200,000 miles. never once did i have to replace anything on the exhust system, especially catylitic converters (the most expensive part in the system). this is unacceptable and a recall needs to be initiated to resolve this. not only is this a safety and moral issue but an environmental on as well.

Loud sueaky noise from right front end. took to mechanic. they say both front grease boots are cracked which allows dirt, dust, etc. to get in and up around the ball joints and tie rod assemblies. the right front ball joint had gone bad due to this boot crack so we had to replace it. they recommend replacing both tie rods, boots and ball joints, but we could only afford to repalce the ball joint that was bad at this time because we just spent $3350 putting a new transmission in the car. this vehicle has less than 50,000 miles on it. unbelievable!!!! what is ford building these cars with??? i suspect the cheapest parts they can get regardless of their quality so they can make more money. in the meantime the average working family has to pay twice for a vehicle's parts that should not go bad so quickly.

2005 ford escape. ford dealer service for oil change, rotate tires and brake inspection noted front brake pads needed replaced. declined service, (price) able to change front pads ourselves. we could not remove wheel lug nuts. (the same day) checked torque and found dealer had over tightened the lug nuts to over 150 lbs. with much effort removed lug nuts and changed front brake pads. returned to dealer to complain and request all new wheel studs. although they could not remove the rear lug nuts with the wrench supplied with the escape they denied replacing the wheel studs. i believe the failure with wheel studs on ford products is a dealer service problem. question: have the failures all happened after dealer service?

2005 ford escape tone ring on the axel throws off the abs and it engages at the tap of the brakes. grabbing the brakes, either slamming on brakes or no brakes at all. i have researched this and there are many many complaints from 01-10 escapes. dealers are charging for axel and ring to be replaced when all that needs replaced is the 15$ ring. i feel this shoud be recalled because it causes vehicles to flip over and also to not stop. my vehicle has 90,xxx miles on it and the abs light comes on and goes off. the vehicle will often not brake at all! i have had to put it in nutreul and pull off of road. this has happened when abs light was not on! i feel this is a perfect defect to be recalled because it has to do with a major major problem the brakes. please someone look into this. i have just spent 800 dollars fixing this and the mechanic said its very very common. googled it and found this to be very very common. thank you.

E.c.m. went out, and in my reserch to find a remanufactured brain i discovered alot of complaints about this part. i also found out that the part for my car is not available as remanfactured. my car is a 2005 ford escape sport. the cost for this part is very expensive...

Driving down the road at approx. 45 mph, i hear a loud pop, and the rear window exploded. nothing hit it, wiper was not on, rear defrost had turned off about 5 minutes prior. luckily all of the glass, and i mean all because the entire rear window is gone, was either in the back of the truck or on the bumper. now i am out almost $300 plus for what reason? then i see i am not the first this has happened to. i don't know if other rear window components need replaced yet as i am still waiting to get the window replaced.

The problem is when driving 2005 ford escape the engine cuts out. when driving on interstate 5 at 60 mph the engine will shut off and then start back up. the theft light lights up when this happens. also, at any speeds the engine will cut out. example is when at stop sign at intersection or cross street, while in drive and proceeding across intersection the cars engine and all electrical will turn off. i will then have to shift car into neutral and restart car and then shift into drive and proceed across intersection hopefully without getting hit from other cars. this has happened with a car full of grandchildren on several occasions. the cars engine cut out happens at greater occurrences when driving up inclines.

It feels like a brick is underneath the accelerator pedal. no matter how hard i push down, the pedal doesn't budge. then without reason the pedal works again. at first it would happen when i shift to third gear and i would be in the flow of traffic and not often, maybe once every 7-8 months. now it has occurred everyday once a day the last three days. one time backing up. the accelerator pedal will not engage.

The rear hatch window of our 2005 ford escape suv exploded while parked in our garage. we heard a loud boom, then the sound of glass shattering. we discovered the rear auto-safety glass had blown out and was everywhere, covering a two garage bay area. it was 3:30am and no one was in or near the vehicle at the time.
01/18/201187000
2005 ford escape was parked inside a secured garage overnight. at some point overnight, the rear window spontaneously shattered. no one was in the car or garage when this occurred, and the garage was still secure in the morning. pea-size glass pieces were found up to 10 feet away from the car, and a large amount of glass went into the rear cargo area of the escape. the pieces of the glass were manually cleaned up from the vehicle and the garage floor. the window was replaced with a new identical part at a local auto glass repair shop. the owner of the escape paid for this new window completely with his own money. due to the fully random nature of this event, i believe it to be vehicle defect with the rear window glass or some part supporting the glass. i will be contacting ford directly as well.

I was traveling about 30 mph and was the only one on the road. the roads were covered with a light dusting of fluffy snow, and it was chilly.. about 21 degrees. the defroster had been on, but i had physically turned the defroster off about 5 minutes before the 'explosion'. i heard a horrible noise and was completely shocked to see there was very little of my rear window left. what?!!?! how could such things happen? and what a mess! there was glass everywhere, paint had been chipped, the shocks were hanging out, the wiper and motor were at an awkward angle...things were dangling everywhere. unfortunately, it was a sunday and nothing was open to help with the repair until monday. so far, my insurance company has been somewhat helpful, but i've still had to pay out of pocket to get my vehicle repaired. why do i even need to pay anything for something i did not cause?? my calls to ford haven't really gotten me anywhere yet, except to only reiterate there is no recall for such issues. i agree that with this many voiced complaints, ford should at least acknowledge there is an issue.

The rear window in our 2005 ford escape spontaneously exploded as i was driving along the road. the temperature was about 5 degrees celcius and it was raining. i was using the window defogger and the rear wiper. the explosion sounded like a shotgun blast and a large amount of glass flew into the vehicle. there was also glass on the rear bumper. my daughter and two of her friends were in the back seat when this happened, and glass flew in toward them. i maintained control of the vehicle, but was quite startled by the loud explosion! the driver's side hydraulic lift was hanging outside of the vehicle and the passenger side lift was still attached to a chunk of glass and in place in the frame of the window. my guess is that the hydraulic lift failed, exerted pressure on the window, and caused the explosion.

The accelerator on my 2005 escapes gets stuck while driving on the highway, and on city streets. i was turning left onto a 45mph main street when the pedal jammed and i got stuck in the middle of the road. i could not push it down. fortunately, the oncoming traffic was far enough away that it slowed down before causing an accident. the same sticking problem has happened while driving down the interstate. i press the accelerator to keep with the flow of traffic, but it sometimes feels like it's locked in position and will not move. this is causing dangerous scenerios. by doing research, it appears the ford escapes have been having a similar problem since 2001.

I was driving on the interstate, traffic was crawling, it was snowing. all of a sudden my rear window exploded. sounded like a gunshot. my husband was driving, so i turned to look out the back to see what happened, and low and behold, my rear window was shattered (mostly on the inside of the car) and all other non-glass parts were hanging in midair. this is the first time we had ever had anything like this happen, and we got off at the next exit to look for bullets, snowballs, etc, and found nothing. just about 5 minutes prior to this happening, i had turned on the rear defroster. scared the crap out of both of us. will find out what the repair costs are tomorrow at the dealer.

The accelerator on my ford escape sticks in the up position when it gets cool out. it happens intermittently after you brake and then go to accelerate. very scary on the freeway. push the accelerator and it does not go down, no acceleration. you have to keep lifting your foot and pushing (hard) tho get it to accelerate we have tried spraying it with lubricant and using graphite, neither has helped. this started when it was about 3 yrs old and has gotten worse. it is now 5 yrs old and has become a dangerous problem.

While the 2005 ford escape was being driven on a four-lane road, the gas pedal stopped working. the car was going downhill and the driver steered it into a parking lot. there, on closer inspection under the dashboard, it was evident that the throttle cable had failed where it connects to the top of the articulating arm of the gas-pedal: depressing the pedal did not pull the cable; the cable end protruded through a little tube at the top of the arm, but was not attached to the articulating arm. the arm moved freely without engaging the cable. this failure had resulted in sudden and complete inability to accelerate -- no throttle. under certain driving conditions (e.g. merging onto a highway or crossing a busy intersection where cross-traffic is not required to stop at a stop sign or a red light) this system failure has a high chance of resulting in injury or death. in the parking lot, the owner attached a pair of needle-nose vise-grip pliers to the end of the cable at the top of the articulating arm of the gas pedal, as a temporary fix, and drove the car to the ford dealership about a mile away. after inspecting the car, the ford dealership service department ascribed the failure to throttle body binding and advised complete replacement of throttle body assembly and cable.

I am writing in concerns to a serious safety issue that ford motor company has failed to address. i am an owner of a 2005 ford escape which i purchased new in november of 2004. i have been waiting two months to have a faulty electrical part, the smart junction box, replaced. since august 23rd my vehicle has been unsafe to operate without this part as my turn signals, head lights, and hazard lights are inoperable, as well as power windows, interior and dash lights, power locks, radio and clock display and my ability to unlatch the rear door. after researching the information myself i was forced to wait another week to be scheduled to have my vehicle scheduled for repair. on sept. 7th the ford mechanic confirmed the part i told him i needed was correct and said part was on back order and should be available in two weeks. on sept.21st, i called to ask if the part was available. it was then that the mechanic said that he neglected to mention the part would not be ordered unless i paid in advance. i paid for the part on sept23. on sept. 29th the general manager at worden-martin called to say there was nothing he could do. i asked if it were possible to have a used part put in temporarily while i wait. i received a reply that i would have to pay $350 to have that part put in with no guarantee that the part would function properly and no compensation if the replacement part were to fail. not wanting to throw away $350 for a faulty part, i felt i had no choice but to wait another week for the part to arrive. after waiting two weeks i never received a call, so i called the dealer to inquire on the part. i was told the part may not be available until oct. 25th. i called ford motor company

I own a 2005 ford escape and have numerous issues since i purchased the vehicle in november 2004. the transmission has been replaced and one coil pack. throughout the time i have owned the vehicle the theft light comes on and tried to shut the vehicle down while i was driving (40+mph). it cleared for a little while after the transmission was replaced, then it returned. ford changed one ignition coil and said that if we changed the spark plugs it would probably fix the theft shut down problem. well we changed the spark plugs and the vehicle continued trying to shut down the vehicle while i was driving(40+mph). now the vehicle will not start at all. there is juice from the battery, all the lights and radio come on, but the car refuses to turn over. we have checked everything possible, including: the battery, fuses, and having it tested by a certified mechanic. the anti-theft system or ford pats ii system seems to be defective which also be connected to the pcm. there are thousands of complaints regarding the 2005 ford escape pats ii system and pcm. i do not understand why a recall has not been forced. the 2005 ford escape were initially released with the wrong spark plugs which causes damage and they did not recall the spark plugs. with these very evident manufacturer defects, and tsbs that have been distributed through ford - there needs to be a recall and items repaired. consumers should not have to pay to fix the problems that ford caused and will not take responsibility for. my vehicle is a 2005 ford escape xlt v6 3.0l purchased at ukiah ford lincoln mercury in ukiah, california.

My 2005 ford escape has a problem with the accelerator sticking. it used to only stick in cold weather right when i started the car, but now it does it regardless of temperature, and even while driving. i went from having this problem maybe once every three months (approx 3 years ago was the first occurrence), to it happening almost every time i drive the car. when it sticks, i cannot accelerate at all. i will use both feet to try and depress the gas, but it is like pushing against a wall. sometimes simply restarting the car fixes it, but i was stuck in the middle of an intersection yesterday when it froze up half-way through the turn. i had to be pushed to the shoulder. luckily there was not too much oncoming traffic that would have risked an accident. i have looked this up online, and many other escape owners discuss this very same problem. i called the ford dealership, and they said that this is not a recall, but it very much should be. i am taking it in to be looked at, and hopefully they can fix it, but this is obviously a manufacturer defect if so many other owners are having the same issue. ford does not want the same reputation as toyota right now, and they should do something about it proactively. the escape is a mid-size suv that many families own. by the time a mother and her two children are killed simply turning across a street, it will be too late.

I am wondering will there be any recalls on other cars other than toyota related to gas pedals sticking? my ford escape's gas pedal would get stuck and after taking it to my local dealer they said it was the throttle body assembly that needed to be replaced. i had to wait 2 weeks for the part to come in from china. is there any relationship between what is going on with toyota and my problem i had with ford. this was a safety issue that is being overlooked by ford. *tw
