When attempting to press down on accelerator, it sticks/hangs and will not press down. has done this repeatedly; most noticeably when the weather is cold.

On this particular incident i had let my car warm up since it was winter i pulled out of my driveway my car did fine but when i came to stop sign to go out of my neighborhood my pedal moved just enough to get me onto highway that was at the bottom of a hill. luckily there was are car coming so i could coast of the side of the road. it felt like someone had put a brick under the gas pedal. this was the worse case but, it has happened numerous times. i can't remember the exact mileage and date.

Rear window exploded proceeding at green light, in traffic, at 10 mph. defrosters and wipers were on due to light rain. loud bang and glass filled the vehicle. stopped vehicle to investigate. no foreign objects found to rule out foul play. no other damage to vehicle.

I drove 7 miles to work. it was a little foggy/dewey out so i turned on my rear defrost. the temperature was in the low 60's, so cool, but not cold by any means. i parked my car and rolled the windows (all 4) down @ 3 inches. when i parked my car @ 8:00am it was fine. by 9:10am, i was informed that the back windshield of my car was broken. when i went to check my car, the back windshield had completely blown out. there was barely any glass on the inside of the car as it had all blown out 3-4 feet into the parking lot. i did have the local police respond just in case and the officer shrugged and questioned/stated freak accident. i've found numerous reports of this happening on these vehicles, yet no public awareness has been made. i am just glad that it didn't happen while i was driving like with some reports i've read. my insurance would cover a recycled rear windshield/wiper and i am terrified to use the rear defrost on the new one knowing that it came from the same year and make of vehicle for fear it will happen again.

About a month ago my 2006 ford escape started killing on me while i was driving at low speeds and at stop signs. id put it in neutral, and it would start right up.. i took it to ford and they said it needed a new transmission. we changed all the sparkplugs (they needed changed) it ran great for about 2 months, then it started again. more frequenlty, and at all speeds. it's dangerous, especially going around curves or on the freeway. i love my escape, and i don't trust the ford dealership, that tried to sell me a $2800 transmission. for some reason it's not getting spark. ive been looking for a reapir manual, hoping it will help me figure out why this happens. i'm no mechanic, but it seems like it's something fixable.

2006 ford escape - gas pedal sticks and is hard to press down, especially when it's cold outside. noticed at approximately 55,000 miles. have noticed many similar complaints on the internet.

The accelerator on my 2006 ford escape has been sticking on numerous occasions. it feels like it locks in position and i cannot depress it. the first incident happened when i backed out of a parking spot. it worked fine in reverse, but iwhen i switched gears it would not go forward. when i finally got it to work, i traveled about twenty five feet and then it locked up again. you never know when the accelerator is going to stick. this can prove to be very dangerous my son called the dealership regarding the problem, but they said my car is no longer under warranty. it appears to be an expensive fix, and i've read about many, many people who are suffering with the same defects. it seems it's been an ongoing thing since 2001. my husband is currently experiencing the same accelerator problems with his 2005 ford escape. we've currently filed a complaint regarding that vehicle also.

I pulled my 2006 ford escape into my garage, turned off the engine, got out and shut my door when the rear window just exploded/shattered. i had my 3 year old and 7 month old (who was rear facing) in the car with me.
