It was about 30 degrees and my 13 year old daughter went to put a item in my 2011 ford escape parked in my drive way. upon closing the rear lift gate the glass shattered into tiny pieces. this caused scratches and other body damage to the vehicle when the hydraulic arms and wiper blade assembly gave way when the glass shattered. the vehicle is 2 years old and under warranty. i called the dealer where i purchased it and was told to turn it into my insurance. no other help was offered!!! mind you its 30 degrees out and i have 2 young children and live in a rural area. i did as i was told and reported to my insurance co. they tried to hook me up with several glass places with no luck. the closest was 35 miles away and said it would be about 2 weeks to get the glass because its not something they have in stock. i had to drive to a local mechanic with no rear window in the middle of winter with two kids just to get it covered with plastic so i could have a car to drive. am i wrong to think ford could have done more to help????

After stopping and upon acceleration the engine complete shuts down and the car stalls. after putting the car in park and restarting the car, it runs okay. this has happened to me 4 times over an 23 month period. each time i have taken the vehicle to the dealership. the first two times i was told the car was still breaking in and it must be due to the gas i was using. the third time, they replaced the throttle body. to my knowledge the wrench light only came on once. they said they had a number of vehicles that this had happend with and replacing the throttle body helped. three weeks after they replaced the throttle body, it happended again! this time only the engine light came on. ford says they need a code to try to fix the problem. the dealership told me that there was one other person, who has the same make and model as mine that this is happening too. this person also had the throttle body replaced. the fact that no code is tripped is a problem in itself! please help! i do not want anyone to be killed because of this problem.

-harsh jerking while foot on brake and shifting from any gear to drive, it's an automatic transmission -at the speed of approximately 30 mph, braking for the stop sign, it jerked forward first before speed was reduced fortunately, it was still under warranty. the dealer diagnosed the problem as transmission center support damage. the vehicle was never in an accident and it was purchased new. this incident occurred 14.5 months after i took ownership of the vehicle and had about 9,330 miles on it. it was a safety hazard when it jerked forward before speed was reduced and for a new vehicle to have transmission center support damage - certainly not confident that it won't happen again before 20,000 miles.

While i was driving 55 mph on the interstate in the middle lane when suddenly, with no warning, we were no longer able to get enough throttle to continue moving forward. we had to coast to the side of the road. we were almost rear-ended, i really thought we were going to be killed. it is a very scary situation, going from 55 mph to nothing. the throttle body failed completely and had to be replaced. after doing research on this i have found that many other people have had this same experience, including my sisters 2010 ford escape with only 45000 miles on it. i had just had my 30,000 mile service done on my vehicle two weeks priop and asked them to please check the throttle body since it had happened to my sister, and it was fine at that time. i believe something needs to be done before someone is killed. when i asked what was to keep this from happening again i was told, nothing, it could happen again at any time. when i asked if there was a recall on it, i was told,i have been waiting on a recall on this for two years. i was told this from a ford service person at the ford place that repaired my vehicle in indiana. i have reported this to ford at the 800-392-ford number that the same ford service worker gave me when i asked if there was some place i could call about this situation to help get a recall. i no longer feel safe in my vehicle.

On the 5th day of use of my new vehicle, i was riding at 60 mph on a rainy day when the air conditioner stop working, my windows start fogging. there was no car light alarms, car temperature normal (no thermostat alarm). i took the cat to ford service, it took 4 days to fix the problem, finding out that there was a problem with the thermostat and as a consequence it afect the air conditioner.

On 22 nov 2011 my 2011 ford escape xlt auto awd 2.5l i4 rear windshield exploded after closing tailgate/hatch! i look inside soon after to see if anything had been in the way to cause it and their was not! this would have only been my third time opening the hatch part as i usually open the glass part mostly and which i also did that day and there was not indication on my dash that anything was still open so later that day i had to open my tailgate and i closed it and my windshield exploded! i have since had it replaced and am writing to you to inform you of this so that i will not happen to others! i have looked online at carcomplaints.com and your site to see their are other complaints about rear windshield exploding which to be could be a safety issue for occupant and their families! i would like if possible for a review of all 2011 ford escape models to see if an upgrade to the hardware or support equipment needs to be done and maybe a safety bulleting to all 2011 ford escape owners to be aware of problem and how to prevent it! i was wondering if maybe it had anything to do with cabin pressure????? i say this because when you open the backseat windows i hear an echoing of sound in my suv and i wonder with a certain amount of pressure applied to closing rear gate the pressure pushing off backseats is causing rear windshield to blow out??????? v/r, conerned ford owner....

My husband shut the lift gate on our 2011 ford escape and the rear window exploded into a thousand pieces. this vehicle has less than 2,000 miles on it.

I was closing the back hatch on my 5 week old 2011 ford escape when the back glass shattered everywhere. i contacted ford motor company and they related to me that the back glass was not covered. so, of corse i had to re-place my back glass for approx $400. exactly 2 days after the new glass was installed, it happened again. when closing the liftgate the back glass shattered. this time the glass company replaced it for free, but when contacting the ford company and dealership they were very rude and disrespectful. after contacting the better business bureau, still nothing was done. it has not happened since, but now i try not to put anything into the back of my car so i don't have to lift the hatch.

I closed the rear hatch of the escape and the rear glass exploded. the car was in the driveway of my house and the glass went everywhere, covering the cargo area of the vehicle and the driveway. there was nothing even close to touching the glass inside or outside of the car when it shattered. i received a small cut on my hand from the glass that i was able to treat myself. the vehicle was about a week old at that time and we took it back to the dealer to have them address the issue.
