June 4, 2010 p. o. box 171 red banks, ms 38661 andy wise wmc tv 5 memphis, tn 38104 dear mr. wise and consumer investigators: walmart is selling recalled tires outlawed by the national highway traffic safety administration and department of transportation. this series was once sold by firestone. this tire is responsible for over 26,000 deaths and $1m in damages etc. goodyear bought the trademarked series mentioned in the subject line and is selling them only at walmart. this is the same product but different company. the tire's specifics are p25570r16. i am preparing to take this step further to get this series removed from the shelves. it is the tire's tread, depth, size, height, etc. that did not conform to the federal government's regulations an specificities. contact me to further discuss this issue via email at glynda23@yahoo.com

I understand that there is an inquiry concerning the safety of the above mentioned tires. on 11/03/00 i had preventative maintenance completed on my vehicle (oil change/tire rotation). the service representative advised me that my tires were becoming choppy. he showed me by running my hand over the surface of the tire. the tire was not smooth, but in certain areas it appeared that the tire was raised. i felt that this condition was odd since i would believe that the tread would wear smoothly during continued operation. understanding the concern about tread seperation, and not being an expert, i suspected that this may be occurring. i sent a mesage to the customer service section of goodyear and was advised that 39,000 was the life expectiancy of those tires. i disagree and felt their explantation was unacceptable. i advised goodyear that it was intent to file a complaint with your organization. my concern is for the safety of my family and that of the other motorist. thank you all for your assistance. john williams. *ak( dot number: load e tire size: p265/70r17 )

The goodyear wranglers rts tires are original equipment on the ford expedition, they have a tendancy to hydroplane on wet roads. expierenced major loss of control in a rainstorm traveling at 25mph on a 45mph road. entered a slight curve, no steering response vehicle proceed to head straight until comming in contact with a concrete bicycle path,in which forced the vehicel to turn abrubtly, hydroplaning again going across two lanes until driver regained control. tires show no major wear, no uneven tread or any defects. these stock goodyear tires also produce major vibrations at highway speeds.ford should not use these tires as original equipment tires.( dot number: tire size: 255-70-16 )

The spare tire of my 1997 ford expedition (truck) is normally threaded with a wire rope and winched up into place beneath the back of the expedition. it works well and is easier to use than the traditional bolt/plate. however, in january 2005,my wife was driving on grant road a major street in tucson arizona and the wire rope broke and the tire flew off from beneath our expedition and bounced wildly down the road. fortunately nothing and no one hit the tire; but there was potential for a very serious accident if it had been hit by one or more cars. traffic stopped and my wife went back and retrieved the errant tire from the middle of three lanes. i do not know if the cable was corroded; but living in a dry climate of the arizona desert i do not believe this was the case. there was no rust of any kind i could see. i believe ford motor company should notify truck owners to inspect the cable for defects. we were very lucky that a lot of damage wasn't done to other vehicles or humans. *jb

The spare tire retention cable failed, causing the spare tire to fall out of the bottom of my 1997 ford expedition. this happened under normal highway driving conditions on a busy section of road. there fortunately were no vehicles following at the time or there most assuredly would have been an accident. *ak

Spare tire fell off of 1997 ford expedition while driving on road. the spare is suspended by a cable under the rear section of the vehicle. this event occurred while driving at very slow speed. however, the car following behind my vehicle could not avoid the fallen tire and drove over the top. the defective tire suspension cable was replaced, at my expense, by a local dealer. i am concerned about what may have happened if this had occurred while driving on the freeway. *ak
