Purchased truck on 02/15/2008, and the brakes went on the truck on 02/21/2008, which almost cause me to go headon with a semi-truck. told dealer about brakes going out but didn't care about it. told him about me taking the truck to the transmission shop and the indicated that it was the motor that have the 5 cylinder missing in the engine and the engine had a lot of defects with the engine. took the reports to the dealer and he said he would take care of it but he indicated to me that he would not fix the problem with the truck. he told me to fix it myself and pay him the car note. *tr

Both rear tires had tread separation and a blow out occurred on one of them .... the vehicle had been to the dealers and had brake repairs at approx. 34,000 miles . from initial lease of vehicle, there were complaints of rough ride and apparent tire problems. the dealer never made any offer to correct the problem but balanced and rotated the tires. upon taking this problem to them on 09/04/2001 they disclaimed any knowledge or assistance in adjusting the obvious malfunction of the general tire which blew out... upon taking the vehicle to a tire store and had them check the tires for any other damage they discovered that another tire had a separation of the tread and had a knot on the tire which was just beginning to ware. all tires had proper air pressure. i have kept these tires for further investigation and complaint follow-up.*ak (tiresize: 275x60r17)

I am concerned with the faulty mechanics on this vehicle. i have had this problem happen twice now since owning this vehicle. on jan 27-2001, i was coming off the 5 fwy and lost all power of brakes. i had to downshift to 1st gear to get my vehicle to stop, almost causing a serious accident at beach blvd. 2nd time, i was traveling on the 91 fwy at approx 70 mph when my vehicle started swerving and became very bumpy. i had to veer off the fwy in a state of shock and dangerous matter. when i stopped, my truck dropped in the front right area. i got out to look and saw that the wheel had come off and was leaning into the inside of my tire well. i am now afraid of driving this vehicle and reporting it to you so you can look into it. please follow up with me as to your actions and as to what actions i need to do to take care of this matter. third strike usually ends up in ***death*** i do not want to be part of statistics or want to hear of any others getting hurt because of this malfunction. thank you dean aughenbaugh. *ak

I have now replaced the front brakes and rotors 3 times since buying this 2000 ford expedition in late 2000. i was informed by a former service manager from ford that this defect is known and wide spread. what he explained to me that they received a large lot of front right brake lines that were to small or concluded enough so as not to let the caliper completely release the pads from the rotor causing failure of both in as little as 15000 miles. there is a cover up and people are probably having accidents due to this defect. i will never buy another ford. we also had the leaking windshield over the drivers side that would leak into the electrical boards in the dash causing the lights to go out/the radio to go off and on by itself. the worst was it trying to start with no key or person in the vehicle and ruining the starter and the battery. do not buy this vehicle!!!!!!!!!!!!! because ford still lies that these are not their problems. *jb

The truck has 32,000 miles on it and the front rotors are no good. they have not been turned (1) time. i bought the expedition used and have put maybe 10,000 miles on it. speaking with the dealership they say when the truck was bought from them, there was nothing wrong with the rotors or brakes. my front bakes are completely gone and so are the rotors. the dealership says that since i live on a dirt road, this might have something to do with it. i have had (2) other ford trucks (f-150's) that never had this problem, my husband has a f-250 and it has 2 times the mileage on it and it does not have this problem. i don't think this is normal wear and tear.*ak

With no warning or indication, the right brake began a grinding sound and was reported to the dealer for analysis. though under warrenty, the report was a $700 repair for a new rotor. the service manager reports this is common and owners need to report this.*ak

My wife parked our 2000 ford expedition at work around 8:30 a.m. two hours later it was on fire. after many conversations with marshall mize ford they told me that the cause of the fire started in the brake system. they said that brake fluid leaked on my manifold and sparked a flame causing my car to burst into flames. i was under the impression that brake fluid was not flammable, especially after sitting for two hours it should not have even been hot enough. my truck was fixed and we have not had any problems with it yet. the fire started in the engine compartment on the left side. the fire was quickly put out causing there to be only $6500 in damage. parts replaced consist of the main wiring harness, the components of the brake system under the hood, and the cruise control system. if needed we can fax a complete invoice of all parts and labor. *nm

I was taking my child to school for a field trip. we were in the parking lot for approx. 20 min with the engine off. then out of nowhere a big gush of gray/black smoke appeared. i immediately got myself and children out of the car and proceeded to call 911. at this time the 2 bus drivers came and ask me to pop my hood assuming it was my car running hot when they lifted the hood there was flames. they got a fire ext. and put it out. i proceeded to find a way to get home and get my other children to school. i then called my mechanic and asked him to meet me at my truck. he inspected it and determined the sw asy and brake fluid lines had burned and melted . he talked to a couple of his friends whom own junkyards and they told him in the last year they have had 10 or so expeditions come in burned from the same problem. i called ford and have had no response. i believe this is a man. defect that needs to be looked into. any help or comments would be appreciated because it could have turned out worse than what it did if i didn't have bus drivers there to help. *jb
