Why is there no warning light,or signal of any kind when the pcm fails? our pcm failed, which caused our catalytic converters, 02 sensors, & fuel pump to fail. & our ignition coils had to be replaced. would have been nice if a warning light came on the dash. this has caused our expedition engine to randomly shut off while driving countless times! i have miraculously been able to maneuver my expedition to the side of the freeway &have it towed eight times without killing myself, my family or any one else! we have had odd electrical and performance problems since august of 2002 when we purchased it. not one ford mechanic (3 different dealerships) could ever diagnose or repair issues. because there is no warning light/code when the pcm is out, the damage snowballs. there are no computer codes, or warning lights to show up on the dash board when the pcm is out, which befuddles the mechanics. we are literally $5,000 in the hole so far! ford dealership repaired our expedition by replacing the pcm ($1,300.00). 48 hours after they replaced the pcm, and 18 miles after we drove expedition off the ford lot, the service engine soon light came up on the dashboard -for the first time ever! we drove back to the ford dealership, and he said for $3,400 plus tax he could replace our new catalytic converters in bank one that were destroyed again, & the bank two converters which are now very weak, not up to spec. the driver's seat motor that has been fickle since aug of 2002, stopped working when we went to pick it up, so i can't drive it, because i can't reach the gas or brake pedals. $800 will fix that, ford says. if you google 2003 ford expedition eddie bauer engine shuts off randomly, thousands of people are reporting the same issues. until someone crashes and dies, i don't think ford cares.

My 2003 ford expedition burst into flames on sunday, june 22 at 5am. the truck hadn't been driven since 7pm the previous evening. while the travis county fire marshall is still finishing up the investigation, all signs point to the faulty cruise control module. my car was gutted, it also totaled the car next to it and most of my garage went up in flames! ford should be required to send out serious recall notices to all owners asap! people are dying... just check out www.flamingfords.info. *tr

Gas pedal stuck while under acceleration. while accelerating from a stop light the gas pedal stuck wide open. managed to get to parking lot while holding brakes to the floor. after several kicks the pedal came unstuck. took truck to ford dealer where the service department found that the throttle body sticking due to a shifting in the linkage and carbon build up inside of throttle body. dealer replaced part #'s 3l1z9e926 & f65z9e936 and performed flush of upper plenum with bg induction service. *nm

On march 11, 2004 i was driving my expedition on the i-95 during rush hour when i noticed that car began to feel very heavy. i also noticed that the speedometer was going down from 65 mph to 45 mph despite fact that i was pressing down the gas pedal, and suddenly all of the engine lights turned on. i was able to pull over on the shoulder of the highway without any incident. i waited for a few minutes and the car restarted with no problem. *ak

2003 ford eddie bauer expedition: 3 incidences where when stopping , once in line at mcdonalds and twice when approaching a stop sign, the vehicle motor accelerates and it is impossible to stop the vehicle from moving forward. dealership has had the vehicle over 3 weeks and cannot duplicate the problem. since they cannot duplicate the problem-their contention is there is not a problem. i refuse to drive an unsafe vehicle. if they cannot find a problem they need to replace the vehicle and take this one to engineers to research safety hazard. this vehicle only has 9,000 miles it is still a new vehicle. *ak

My expedition is a 1yr and 5 months. with less than 500 miles paid for a front end alignment and tire rotation, because of bad vibration at speeds of 60-70 miles an hour. still had vibration, took it back to dealer, they said the truck came with tires out of balance. still had vibration, took it back to dealership, a box dealing with the steering wheel had to be replaced. since then i have paid for another front end alignment and tire balance, now tires have worn so bad dealership will probably blame worn tires for the vibration. there is more!!! the seal on the front windshield came loose and started leaking, and had to be replaced. in the front defrost vent some foam stuff had come loose and would flap around when the vent was on, the dealership called it ( packing) it was replaced or glued back down. the side trim on both sides from the two front doors, to the two rear doors faded badly, and had to be replaced. the dome light had a pinched wire and would flicker when turned on or hit a bump, it was repaired. the power window swith light, driver side went out, and the unit had to be replaced, and now the cruise control will not stay engaged when i hit a bump most of this happened in under a year. *ak
