STEERING

Twice in last week, driving at slow speed and engine fail safe mode light comes on. lost power, braking, and steering. forced to put car in neutral while car was rolling to restart. rolled right thru stop sign. restarted fine, luckily. in second event, almost got hit when turning left across oncoming traffic! started turn and couldn't stop turn due to loss of braking. fortunately, first time i tried the restart in neutral and it worked, otherwise i would have been hit in second event or hit something since i couldn't steer.

While making a hard left turn to avoid a crash , i was unable to recover to the right even with my steering wheel turned al the way to the right. my vehicle continued left and collided with the guard rail at about thirty mph. inspection of the damage found that the left front tie rod on my brand new expedition was broken in half. there was marks on the tie rod to indicate that it was cut. instead it was fractured . this is the reason for loss of steering control. *nm
