This is a used car we were going to buy at a reputable dealer's lot. salesman assured us it had not been in an accident. upon inspection by our mechanic, it was determined that this vehicle had extensive front end damage, being rebuilt with salvage parts and repainted, probably in mexico. the transmission needed costly repairs. it had also had the tailgate removed, possibly replaced, and the brake pedal was welded on. *tr

1.) we bought the vehicle early in 2009 but never had a reason to use the 4wd. the first time we remember using it, there was a loud clanking sound. 2.) the second time we remember using the 4wd on the vehicle, the driveshaft twisted into failure even though the vehicle was moving at a slow rate of speed. 3.) when we took it to the dealership, they indicated that we abused the vehicle and said they could not perform the warranty work (however, they didn't mind giving us a loaner car) even though we bought the vehicle from them and they know we don't abuse our vehicles. i then called ford customer service and they in turn called the dealership. the customer service spokesman came back and said they stand behind the dealerships service department and that they considered the manner closed. *tr
