| Today, i started our 2005 ford explorer to drive my two children to the bus stop. the electronic throttle control light on the instrument cluster went on out of the blue. i've had many cars but this is the first ford and since august we've put in an alternator, new engine and now the electronic throttle control light. our prior suv was a 1999 dodge durango and we didn't have to put any of these repairs into it. | |||

| This incident refers to a 2005 ford explorer eddie bauer vin # 1fmdu74ko5ua38592. after making an investment to purchase a vehicle, one should not have to worry about the safety of himself or family because the gear shifter broke off of the steering column. this is what has happened to me, then going to the ford dealer for a part and being told it cost 1300.00 dollars to replace the entire steering column. when the cheap white metal that held it together just sheared off. does a death need to occur to do something about this? | |||

| I recently went to get into my car to go to work, and when i tried to engage the gear shifter is didn't want to go into reverse so i tried again and the gear shifter broke off of the casing of the steering column and i had to replace the whole steering column in order to drive my vehicle again. *tr | |||

| About 1 month ago the heater began to not function correctly. it kept making a clunking sound, before providing heat. now there is absolutely not heat at all. i was looking online, and realized many people had this problem. why isn it a recall then. the average cost of this repair is $600.00 . i am very disappointed that ford wont stand behind their product. *tr | |||

| 2005 ford explorer. consumer states problems with air conditioner *tgw the consumer was a quoted a price of $2,400 to fix the air conditioner. the consumer stated the air conditioner failed for the second time within 16 months. according to the invoice, the ac compressor had a large hole on the side of the case. the consumer believed the original design of the air conditioner was defective. *jb | |||
