2004 ford f150 lariat window regulators failing. i have had two window regulators fail while driving my truck which causes the window to drop unexpectedly into the door cavity which causes alarm to the driver possibly contributing to loss of control of the vehicle. ford is aware of this condition and refuses to correct the issue. it is a serious safety risk. the windows were not being operated at the time of failure. they just dropped leaving the window open at 75 mph on the highway.

I want to add my name to the ranks of ford f150 owners who had the nightmarish experience of simply needing spark plugs changed. unaware that there was a problem with this sparkplug design, i asked my mechanic to do a simple tune up. two sparkplugs broke and he is still researching how to proceed without incurring the most expense. rord tells us about inexpensive recall items, is it because this is expensive that they have not issued recall on this design flaw?

I have had my 2004 f150 xlt supercrew for a year now and the power window regulator in all 4 windows have broken during that short period of time. the most recent failure happened on the front passenger window last night. searching the internet shows that this is a well known issue with these vehicles, but ford will not issue a recall.

I own a 2004 f-150 crew cab ford truck. i have had to replace 3 of the 4 window regulators in this vehicle. each one has broken at different times. the ford dealerships replaced them at a cost of almost a thousand dollars for all three. the driver side window regulator is the only one so far not to break. currently it is making a grinding sound. all three have broken within the past twelve months. this is a great expense to me as well as a great danger. while driving down the road one window regulator broke and the window fell inot the bottom of the door. one broke while the vehicle was not moving and the other one broke while i was raising the window up from being down. i have contacted the ford dealership about the problem. the service department admitts that there needs to be a recall due to their being a wide scale problem with the window regulators breaking. at the same time ford refuses to issue a recall on the problem. ford motor company should be forced to issue a recall on the window regulators and be forced to reimburse owners of the expenses for having to replace the window regulators. once again, i have spent almost a thousand dollars to replace three window regulators. and the last window appears to be malfunctioning now.

2004 ford f150 bought new. rear window (over back seat) motor/regulator broken over a year ago, fortunately with window closed. ford says that it will cost close to $500 to replace motor. yesterday, 5/21/2011, right rear window regulator broke. window will not stay up. from what i see, this has happened to hundreds if not thousands of people yet ford will not address it as a recall item. can't the nhtsa put pressure on ford or the government to force ford to fix these when they break? it is definitely a safety issue! ford bought defective window motors/regulators and are leaving their customers to contend with them alone. why can't they admit to a problem?

2004 ford f150 supercrew. for the 5th time one of the windows has dropped into the door due to the regulator malfunctioning. the first 3 times were covered by the extended warranty i purchased. however, this will be the second one i will have to pay for. each time, all ford does is rplace the regulator and tell me i must have gotten a bad one. this is 5 windows in 5 years.

I have a 2004 ford f-150 lariat supercrew 4 door truck. each of the past 3 years i've had 3 window regulators break. to the day they are still not fixed because of cost issues, almost $200 each not including the $140 labor bill. what breaks is the plastic part that the cable is connected to. the first 2 window regulators broke quietly while the 3rd one made 2 loud pops and the window fell down. it is now winter and i hope the 4th and final window doesnt break. the ford service department told me they are sold as a whole unit, motor, track and cable. the motors don't go bad, the plastic piece in the track breaks. currently i have plastic pvc pipe propping the window up on the 3 windows. very much an inconvenience when you drive up to a drive thru window and never know when your windows going to give out.

Power window regulators have a faulty plastic piece in them causing the window to just drop unexpectantly. i have read in some cases the window breaks. i have had two bad regulators go out now in an 8 week period and have a four door truck. i'm sure the other two are soon to follow

I'm not the first to report this problem and surely won't be the last; i was on my lunch break when i pushed the button to roll down my passenger side rear window then pow it happened. yep, the damn window fell inside the door. i proceeded to roll up the window, but only heard a grinding noise inside the door. sound familiar?? the window will not roll up and is stuck in the open position.ford says it will cost 400 or so dollars it costs to fix it. i'm going to hold out 'til ford realizes they've mass produced a buncha sh*tty parts and has a recall on them!

2004 ford f150 motor regulator failure on all 4 windows over the course of 2 years, after mfg warranty has expired. window suddenly falls into the door, leaving the glass portion down, and open to weather or theft. i've had 2 fall while driving, and 2 fall at night, while the truck was parked outside, leaving it open to theft of the car or contents. each window repair exceeds $400. the info in this complaint reflect the most recent window failure, which is window #4 since i have owed this truck. also, all electric window switches in the car have failed and needed to be replaced.
10/27/201044000
2004 f150 rear window wire failure caused the window to stay down. the wind at 65 mph makes the vehicle vibrate with the window stuck down.

Three power windows failed on 3 different ocassions on my ford truck. while i was driving i herd a loud pop,it sounded like a gun shot and almost caused me to have an accident as i slowed quikly. then i found the window had rolled down on its own while it was raining . the window dropped down inside the door and i could not get it out from the door. it was raining and gettting in the truck. the other 2 windows broke while rolling them up. again herd loud pop and the windows fall. i have shimes holding my windows up while i investigate this matter. i cannot lock my truck and you never know the situation when the window breaks ie... weather, how far away from home, the damage to the interior, the danger of others in the vehicle. i found blogs on the net with alot of other people having this same problem. i might fix the problem myself or take it to the shop. i found you cant by the rear window part at retailer.

I have a 2004 ford f-150. over the last two years i have had to replace three of the four power window regulators. just this last week the fourth one broke. i have spent approximatly $250-$350 each time. i also have a father-in-law with the same year ford f-150 who has experienced the same issues. he has replaced three of the four, and knows it is just a matter of time before his fourth goes out. i have talked with the head mechanic at the local ford dealership and he says he is replacing them all the time and that ford should have issued a recall on them, but has not done so. i have found that several thousand other people have had the same issues with this year model. i am very disapointed in ford that they know there is and has been a problem with these parts and have not helped out their customers. this will and has already helped in my future disisions on purchasing another ford vehicle.

My f150 has had three of the four power window mechanisms fail. the drivers window failed in 9/2008 at 53000 while being used at an atm. the rear passenger window failed in april 2010 at 75000 miles. this window went down on its own suddenly without pressing the switch. this failure occured while driving at highway speeds. the front passenger window failed in sept 2010 at 85000 miles. this window went down suddenly on its own without pressing the switch. the failure occured while driving on an on-ramp and merging into traffic. the sudden and unexpected nature of the last 2 failures are a safety hazard due to the distraction caused while driving. the failures occurred beyond the warranty period, so ford would not provide any support. i ordered new window regulators and replaced them myself. the parts from the third failure are available.

My ford f-150 drivers window popped extremely loud and fell into the door. i was driving on the highway when this took place and it made me jerk the wheel because i thought another car had hit me. i have done some research on this and it appears this is a systemic problem with ford. i would consider this a serious safety issue with the ford product. the window just falls for no reason and apparently the dealer is taking advantage of the situation and over charging. according to the web discussions, countless compliants have been made with ford and ntsb over this issue. this makes both organizations liable because of notifications made. ignorance is not an excuse! this is not an isolated issue but systemic with ford. just read some of the stories posted and you will be alarmed at the incidents. as always, until a deaths are recorded, this matter will be shelved. the consumer should be recognized since we are the ones paying for the products and supporting business. i will also being posting this on the nbc news website as well.

I own a 2004 ford f150, three of my window regulators had to be replaced due to poor design from ford. the front two were still under warranty, & the right rear which was replaced last month 08/2010 i had to pay out of pocket. reading all of the prior complains, i had similar situations. the windows just simply fall down without any notice. one of the incidents my family & i were on the freeway & when one of the window regulators went out it caused a loud sound, we actually thought someone had hit us. soon after the sound of the wind not circulating properly was making our ears hurt. this is a safety matter that needs to be addressed by ford!!

While driving at highway speed the rear passenger window droped, at that time my grandson (3) taught it would be ok to throw his socker ball out. the ball bounced of a car behind me but no damage but scared the driver almost causing an accident. this is a big problem, windows should not drop like that good thing weather was good, i can only imagine if it had been raining the other car would have not been able to stop causing a major accident and i would be getting seud. this issue needs fixing by ford because is not an isoleted problem thousands are having the same problem. window not fixed yet still researching for parts.

I have a 2004 ford f150 that dies, stalls, or surges at stop light or at low speed. it is an intermittent problem that doesn't send any error codes to the computer. the pickup will just die during while turning or stopping. i have been to the dealer and the problem is still not corrected. i have had numerous close calls due to dying during turning

Window regulators failed in all four doors of my 2004 ford f-150 supercrew pickup early in the life of the vehicle. there is a systematic design or quality flaw in these regulators with minimal usage. when the regulator fails, the windows fall down inside the door and cannot be raised without disassembly of the door.

Window regulator failure, i have a 2004 ford f-150 with 45000 miles on it, so far i have had to replace 4 window regulators @ $500 a pop, the 5th one went out today. i wasn't even using the window, just driving down the freeway and bang! a loud noise i thought something hit the truck, then i looked back and the window had fallen. talk about economic loss. ford doesn't seem to care. this is a hazard as well, what has to happen do you have to have a small child or pet could fall out and get killed. i looked and there are a lot of complaints about this same issue. something needs to be done!

All four of my window regulators have failed within a 90 day period. one was shocking, two was irritating, three failures and i'm getting upset and now four failures and clearly there seems to be a problem.

The window regulator on front driver side is broken and it only has 39000 miles. this is an expensive repair and the duct tape clashes with the lariat trim.

I have a 2004 ford f150 that has four doors with a crew cab. all four window regulators have failed on the truck while i was driving the vehicle. even the back windows have filed and they are not used at all. this has the potential to cause a safety incident if the window were to shatter and glass come inside the cabin. i have replaced 2 of the four regulators and they are poorly designed. something needs to be done to make ford motor company own up to the poor design and safety concern.

I have a 2004 ford f150 pickup truck. three of the four power window regulators have failed spectacularly. the windows crash down into to the door without warning and my babies have been in their car seats right next to them. they have to be replaced for at least $350 each. and i have three!!

I have had 3 power window regulators fail on my 2004 f-150. the first was in february of 2008 (front drivers) then in february of 2010 the back drivers and today the back passengers where my 2 year old was at in her car seat. it scared her so bad she wouldn't stop crying for 20 minutes or so. i have only been able to have the front drivers replaced because i don't have the money for the others. they are just shimmed into the up position.

Window regulators on my four door 2004 ford f150. regulator, which controls window going up and down, fails. window will not work nor, stay up after failure. ford dealer replaces regulator at $375.00 per window, per occurence. no prior events, to my knoledge, leads up to the failure. you will hear a crunching sound when regulator fails and window drops into car door.

Ford f150 front window. about, one year ago our front driver side window failed we had to replace the working mechanism ($350.00 ), yesterday our driver side passenger side window mechanism stopped working. i really think that for nhtsa to work for the consumer you need to listen to us. this will be another 350.00 fix. i wonder what you would do if it was your truck or your daughter, wife, or mother?? we need you to look out for us too!! p.s i will be sure to keep the old parts that have to be replaced if you would like it.

The 1st time it happened i was driving down the road and the rear drivers side window just dropped into the door. i took it to a local dealer and they told me that the regulator was bad so i had to replace the regulator. the 2nd time it happened an individual riding in the back was rolling down the back passenger window when the window dropped into the door again. once again i took it to a local dealer and i was told that the regulator on this window had to be replaced. the 3rd time it happend i was driving down the interstate and the drivers window suddenly dropped into the door and this one was within 30 days of having the 2nd window fixed. once again i went to a local dealer and the regulator on this window was bad as well. yesterday i was leaving work and started to roll down my windows when the passenger window suddenly dropped into the door. once again i took my truck to a local dealer and was told that the regulator was bad. i am filing this complaint because 4 window regulators going bad within 15 months of each other should not be acceptable. plus i have 3 small children and what if they would have been with me and the weather was bad outside. everytime that the incidents have happened i have been fortunate to not have my family with me. i have done some research and it seems this is a pretty common issue plus the dealer has told me that this is a problem that they see regularly.

I pushed the button to lower my drivers side window on my 2004 ford f150 supercrew xlt yesterday and after hearing a loud pop my door glass quickly feel down inside the door. the window regulator motor still worked, but it just made a grinding noise and wouldn't move the glass. the sudden failure of the window startled me and i ran off the roadway and almost crashed my truck. i took the door apart and inspected the regulator and the entire cable mechanism had seperated in 3 places. the connection to the motor along with two other connections. the only fix is window regulator replacement. i ordered a replacement regulator from a local auto parts store. when i compared the new one to the original i observed a major difference. the new one had copious amounts of lubricant on the guides, cables and pulleys. the original regulator mechanism was completely dry with no evidence of any type of lubrication. was the lack of lubrication a factor in the failure? i am not sure. but, i did find evidence of metal on metal. i plan on repairing the problem myself with an aftermarket oem part. this is due to the numerous repeated failures of ford window regulators that have been documented online. this is a serious safety issue! when i bought this truck new the sliding back glass did not work before i drove it off the dealership lot. the dealer replaced the motor, switch, cable mechanism and eventually replaced the entire rear window before the problem was resolved. after conducting research online i have found hundreds of complaints of ford f150 truck owners who have experienced power window regulator failures.

2004 ford f150 supercrew 4 door - window motor/cable failure. i started to roll the passenger door front window down and immediately the window just dropped all the way inside the door leaving no window available on that door. no window, no protection from the weather, no security, etc. the window would not come up and remained down inside the door. i've read about this as a common problem that looks like a real obvious recall situation. please make ford responsible for this failure as it apparently can happen over and over because of inferior parts. this is my first occurence in my 23 months of ownership - thank goodness. there are so many similar reports and i ask that you be fair to the consumers and force ford to recall these parts with a suitable replacement part. please treat them equal with toyota and any other manufacturer. ford has a bad door cable or mechanism and they should be held responsible for this issue.

I own a ford f-150 2004 4x4 four door lariat model truck. i have had to replace three of the four window regulators at a cost in excess of $300 each. when i inquired ford about the problem tn the service manager told me this was a common problem on all f-150 models manufactured from the mid 1990's on. they also went on to say that the part couldn't be warranted for more than a year and that the replacement had not better chance of long life then did the others. this is no doubt a design/manufacturing defect which should be corrected before someone is hurt or killed. i know ford, like many other american firms, is having a rough time with this economy but there is no excuse for this flagrant disregard of their responsibility to ford customers.

Two broken window regulators within approximately two weeks. i attempted to roll down windows and i heard a noise and window just dropped down into the door. no broken glass, but very uncomfortable with young kids and you're away from home in cold weather.

I was driving when the passenger side window drop and would not come back up. i did some research and found that there have been numerous problem with regulators in ford f 150 trucks which is what i am reporting. the window regulator failed.

I have a 2004 ford f150 truck with only about 60,000 miles on it. my passenger window just slid down as i was driving! did not push any buttons! of course i then tried to roll the window up but it wouldn't work. now my window is left wide open while i have to wait to get it fixed! i had it checked out and its the regulator that needs replaced. i've already had to replace my rear passenger side regulator but i didn't realize then that it was a defect in the part! i'm still trying to get it fixed. *tr

We purchased our 2004 f150 in sept/oct of '04. shortly after our mileage warranty expired (36,000) miles our window assembly regulator broke and we had to pay over $400 for it to be repaired. a short time later our second window assembly regulator broke and they only asked us to pay 20% of the repair bill equaling $55. 9 months later our third window regulator assembly broke. when these windows regulators break it is during random times and while driving. no one is rolling the windows down they just all of a sudden fall down. we were driving on the freeway at 65 mph and i had my 12 month old daughter sitting next to the window that broke and she had her hand on the door next to the window. she only had a small red mark on her finger however she was crying hysterically because it scared her. while looking online i have found thousands of other complaints about the window regulators breaking on these trucks. when we called to get the truck repaired the had the part in stock and within us making a decision of when to bring the truck in an hour and a half later the part was already used. the repair tech said that it is their most common problem. i feel that this is a major safety issue. if my daughters hand had been any closer it would have been severely pinched. what if the window were to shatter while going down on the freeway at those speeds? ford is unwilling to repair our fourth window and we fear it is just a matter of time before it breaks as well. *tr

My drivers side window just fell open while driving and would not go back up. after investigating the power window unit had broken. 7 days later the same thing happened to the rear passenger window. the dealer told me this is common and is a defect but ford refuses to recall them. the dealer said it will most likely happen to your other 2 windows as well! $400 each to repair. *tr
