All four windows on my 2004, f150, ford truck have fallen into the door because of defective window regulators. the window falls into the door while driving and the cost of replacement is $4-$500.

Automatic transmission shift cable is routed too close to the engine causing the cable cover to melt over time allowing the cable to become loose. this prevents the column shifter from transferring the vehicle into park even though the dashboard indicator is in the park position.

2004 ford f-150 crew cab lariet. driving in rainstorm, the power window regulator fails and the window comes crashing down. this is the 3rd of 4 windows that has fell down for no reason in a 18 mo. period. the shock and surprise has caused me to lose control and run into a fence. had this been on a freeway it could be worse.

I parked my 04 f150 in a public parking lot, locked it, and shut the door. i heard a popping sound, turned around and my drivers side passenger window was down. i opened the passenger door, and the window had fallen down in the door. i tried to roll it up and it did nothing but make a grinding noise. from what i've read, it has happened to countless ford pick ups. i can't afford to fix yet, so i have a piece of wood wedged in the door to hold the window in place. there really should be a recall on this defect.

2004 ford f-150 driver's side window popped loudly and snapped down to fully open position.

I have a 2004 ford f150 and the window suddenly dropped and know ford is telling me that i have to pay $450 to fix my window regulator. the motor still works but they are making me buy the regulator and motor. this is not the first time this has happened to me or my other friends that have ford trucks. it is a safety problem that ford needs to step up and take responsibility .

Complete and unexpected 2004 ford driver-side power window regulator failure, consisting of sudden glass pane window drop while at speed of 65mph accompanied by loud boom noise. - this experience was quite unnerving, and nearly caused me to veerinto another lane occupied by other vehicles. - apparently ford is well aware of this ongoing situation regarding these window components, yet refuses to do anything about it.

I have a 2004 ford f-150 lariat super crew truck that has had to have 3 out of 4 window motors replaced. the windows just stop working and a new motor has to be installed.

The power window regulators on the rear doors of my 2004 f-150 supercrew have both failed within a years' time. this failure causes the window to drop down inside the door. it is a safety concern, as it happened while my children were riding in the back seat. there is no way to easily raise the window without taking it to a mechanic.

Second window drive failure in 6 weeks. very loud bang from door (sounds like truck is hit by large rock/hard object) which is very startling, then window glass slides down into door. on the freeway this is extremely distracting and dangerous. the first window failure (one month ago) cost me $430.00 at ford dealer to repair. i was never informed that this was a frequent problem. after second failure in 4 weeks, i went on the web and discovered that this is happening to thousands of 2004-2005 f-150's, and ford refuses to address it! i'm waiting to talk to dealers service manager about second failure to try and get ford to pay for the repairs, as well as inspect the other windows and repair them as necessary. it's only a matter of time before they fail as well. - this is a well-known design defect!!! ford has already changed the design/part # for the faulty part (regulator/cable assy) three times- and it still fails without warning! these trucks should be recalled and fixed at ford's expense!!!! *tr

I was driving when i heard a loud pop! at that point my driver side window rolled down and couldn't be rolled back up. ford said they would look at it for 200.00 and that was just to look at it. i tore into it myself and found the window regulator to be broken. ford wants to charge me 198.00 for the whole assembly. this i believe to be rediculous. also my passenger side window does not want to role up with the passenger side control so that is inopporative. one more thing my cruise control doesn't work half of the time. my major complaint though is the window regulator as this seems to be a major problem with ford components and even the ford mechanics i talk to say this is a big problem. *tr

2004 f-150 crew cab 4-door, 77,000 miles. in the last 2 weeks, starting october 20, 2008, i have had 3 windows fall into the doors of my truck. windows effected are the rf, rr and lr. the first was the rt front passenger window which fell in the door while traveling on the interstate at 70 mph, at night and during a heavy rain. when i attempted to crack the window for air circulation, i heard a loud bang and the window fell all the way into the door causing me to swerve and nearly miss a vehicle in the next lane. the failure also soaked the interior of the truck and many items in the front seat. i had to continue driving in the rain for several miles to a gas station for a plastic bag because the door panel had to be removed to get the window back up. the rt rear was next followed by the lt rear windows. each window failed with a loud bank and slid into the door while attempting to roll down the window. all 3 windows are being held in the up position by wedging screw drivers between the door and window. 3 windows in less than 2 weeks! the estimated cost for repair is 1500 dollars which i cannot afford. this poses not only a safety issue but also a security issue. judging from the frequency of complaints on these window assemblies, ford needs to take responsibility for replacing, through a recall, these faulty window assemblies. *tr

I have a 2004 f-150 4x4 4 door. the rear driver door does not open from the inside when unlocked from the inside door lock. it has power locks. sometimes if you open the door in one swift motion it will open. it will however open halfway, but then stops and you can't get out. i have informed the dealer when it was in on a window problem and they said it would not do it to them, but they made note. now it won't open if unlocked from the inside, but i have found that if you unlock it with the key pad the door opens most of the time. i have only found this problem from the inside you can open the door from the outside no matter where you unlock it from. *nm

This vehicle was purchased new in this condition; on the supercab model of the f150, the rear driver door can be only partially engaged and with the front door latched, the door display light will be extinguished. this will leave the complete driver side door in a compromised condition. usually not known until driving under highway speed and hearing a wind whistle from the door not being completely closed. i had contacted ford motor co on december 10th of 2004, about this and their suggestion was to take it to original purchase dealer. however the dealer would not make any adjustments, simply telling me that i should make sure the rear door was secure in the full latched position. i even showed the same activity on another vehicle on the lot at that time. for reasons unknown, the passenger side will complete the closing of the rear door if left in the 1/2 latched position and the front door is closed. *jb

On a ford f-150 super cab pickup, the problem is this.. it started with me driving down the highway and noticing that there was a windy noise. much like a window was partially lowered. what i finally discovered, was that the rear door was not completely latched in the full locked position. when i closed the driver door, it fully engaged the rear door and cleared the display light on the dash of an open-door indication, was non-the-less partially open. i have shown my dealer that i can do this, by just shutting the rear door as opposed to basically slamming it closed. then when the front door is closed, the open-door light goes out. incidentally, this same case is true for the passenger door side. i have come to make a special check through the mirrors, to see if there is a straight line along the door frame right at the base of the window. this tells me whether the door is fully closed. and i have found this on several occasions. *jb

Dt*: the contact stated the driver side door will not unlock when trying to exit the vehicle. the dealer can not duplicate the problem.

Dt*: the contact stated as the third door on the vehicle was opened from the outside a child's finger was opening the door from the inside. as the pressure of the outside handle was applied the child's finger became lodged inside the interior handle and sustained a one inch cut to the finger. the laceration was completely to the bone and required immediate surgery. the manufacturer was contacted. *ak.....the contacted notified the dealer three times about the problem. however, dealer had not offered to put a different handle in the car. *ak

2004 ford f-150 supercab; the rear driver door can be in the 1/2 latched position and the front door can engage 100% and the open door light will go out, yet the doors are not fully secure. this was reported to dealer who stated that the vehicle was in specification; also reported to ford who stated to take the truck to dealer for inspection of this problem. *jb
