I own a 2004 ford f150 4-door p/u. over the past several years three of the four window in my ford f150 have fallin at different times ( window regulator ). ford refused to pay for the repair and i was told they know about the problem, however, were not going to issue a recall. this week my 4th window regulator broke causing the window to fall again while in a shopping center parking lot. i advised ford this was unsafe and how can anyone secure a vehicle with faulty window regulators. someone could lose control of their vehicle if this occurse during driving and this issue should be addressed.

The power window regulator has been replaced on the driver's door, the rear passenger door and now the front passenger window.

All four of the window regulators have broken in this vehicle letting the windows fall down and sometimes i have been parked at and not around the vehicle, also have been sitting in the truck and they fall down while traveling down road.

I was driving my 2004 ford f150 supercab down the street in my neighborhood on my way to work. i rolled up the power windows and heard a weird sound from the passenger door. i decided to roll it back down to see what was going on. as soon as i pressed the down button, the window just fell right into the door. it was a little frightening and could see how it could cause a wreck if it happened on the interstate. when i got to work, i got out to check it out. i could still hear the motor working, but i could hear pieces of glass and knew the window shattered.

Driving down the road window just falls down. window motor failure. already replaced both rear window motors. have read on line thousands of complaints about this. ford motor co. has no plans to issue recall or address this issue.

Driving on the freeway a loud bang and the driver side window falls into the door and will not roll back up. rear driver side window fell into the door three months ago while parked in front of our house. apparently the window regulator fails and the windows fall inside the door. upon searching the internet there are hundreds of people that have experienced this same problem with the ford f150 window regulators. ford is charging between $250 - $500 to fix the regulators per window. some people have had to fix the same window more than once.

Two weeks prior to now i had to replace the whole track assembly for the window on the driver's side. driving down the highway, the window just fell into the door panel. this could of resaulted in a serious accident because of the window just falling! two days ago, the same thing happened to the passenger side window. the windows going down when you are not expecting it is scary. these windows unexpectingly going down can resualt in an accident. i feel that there is an engineering defect in these window systems. i have both original ford parts that came out of the door panels. i called ford, but they told me they can not do anything about this.

I have replaced 3 faulty door window regulators and a 4th one just broke. this results in the door glass to suddenly fall down inside the door. i feel that these failures could be potentially dangerous. this sudden and startling occurance can cause drivers to become distracted resulting in accidents.

Passenger side power window collapsed into the door while driving. briefly heard a pop/bang in the door thinking something hit the door, then the window went straight down without control. now i have no way of retrieving the window back up and securing it. plus unable to secure my vehicle or keep the elements of weather out of my truck. i will not use the truck to pick up my you children in this condition. i presume that this could be a significant safety hazard in similar situations with a distracted driver loosing attention to driving or in a severe weather condition. i will take it to a ford service dealer and share my displeasure with this incident. for my safety and everyone else safety, i will get this repair. this incident is severe enough to hurt or kill someone if it is not addressed. i am still shaking with fear while typing this complaint.

While driving on the freeway my passenger side window unexpectedly fell through the door. when i pressed the button to open the window a tad the regulator broke and the window began to fall. a week later the second back passenger window came crashing down also. thankfully it was while i was at the store and the car was stationary. i had to fix this out of pocket last week for about 700.00 for both windows, the repair guy at ford said this wasn't covered or issued as a recall. now fastforward to yesterday, my side driver window comes falling down and i had to use a doorstop to hold it up. i feel this is a widespread issue that ford has not come to terms with. this should have been a recall issued years ago. checking the internet there a numerous sites where angry customers of ford are experiencing this problem way to frequently.(ex. http://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/f150/2004/windows_windshield/window_does_not_roll_up.shtml) we have always bought ford, but with the recent problems this might change.

The window/motor regulator assembly failed in both my drivers door and rear passenger door within months of each other. both times i was on highways or toll roads when the windows fell in the door and i was unable to pull off to remedy the situation. after searching for remedies online i have found that this a common problem with ford trucks. why hasn't ford offered a recall for this failure. when my drivers door window fell i was doing 50 mph on a toll road in the middle of a heavy rain storm. i consider this a safety hazard.

Vehicle had been driven earlier that morning. while parked in the rear of the home the vehicle caught on fire in the motor area. it started about 20 min after being parked. there was also damage to the house. not sure the cause and thankful for no injuries.

I have a 2004 f150 with 22,000 miles on it and every window regulator in the truck has gone out and send the window crashing down. this is the fourth one. ford will not recall it, it is a know issue. the dealership told me, lady its you and thousands like you.

In my super-cab - without warning the driver's side window fell completely down to the bottom of the door and would not raise back up while in route on the interstate. it was loud and shocking! this occurred out of warranty the first time at 53,354 miles. yesterday (3/4/12), the passenger window did exactly the same thing and startled myself and my wife. this presents an extremely unsafe and unsecured situation, especially in the winter conditions we experience here in the northwest. there are hundreds if not thousands of similar incidents posted on the internet for this model, 2004-2008.

I'm driving my truck when all of a sudden it will start vibrating horribly, like driving over a washboard type of road. the only way to get it to stop is to pull over to the side of the highway, put it in park, wait, and then try to resume driving. but this does not always work. you sometimes have to stop and change to park, or reverse, a couple of times, before driving again so that the vibration goes away. i have complained about this before, and i see hundreds of complaints for the same issue on ford owner websites, and everybody is pissed. nobody can get an answer from ford service as to what is wrong. many people have replaced many different things (i.e. transmission, clutch pads, bearings, u-joints, emergency brake cable or pads), all to no avail. they have wasted their time and money, and ford refuses to live up to this awful and very dangerous problem. apparently, ford knows this is a big problem with 2004 f-150 trucks, especially, but will not acknowledge it. someone wrote on the web that ford knows they had a retooling problem with these trucks, and let the trucks go out for sale anyway. i am now having this problem more often, and i am afraid to drive it. i do not have any money to fix my truck, since our economy is so bad and have been unemployed for years. make ford take ownership of this recall problem!

The driver and passanger window regulator failure driverside window came crashing down when i was driving down the highway on 12/01/11 all i heard was a loud pop then no window almost wrecked cause of the sound then a week later the passanger side window did the same thing but after i tried to put the window up after i got back home the dealer states that there still are no recalls on this issue after all the complaints i read online that goes back 5yrs why isnt no one doing anything about this problem.
11/24/2011120000
There was a pop sound, followed by the window crashing down into the door. upon inspection the point of failure is a small pulley attached to the window lift motor. it is weakly designed with high tension focused at 3 stress points instead of distributed about the whole pulley. i believe this is a common problem, and can startle a driver causing an accident, furthermore, at highway speeds the window could have fallen into or out of the truck causing injury.

This is the second report i have filed with nhtsa for the same complaint but additional occurrence. while driving on the highway at 1000 at night and traveling 55 mph, there was a loud bang that sounded like the truck had been shot, followed immediately by the passenger front window dropping into the door. the sound was so startling that it almost caused a loss of control of the vehicle. ford knows that they have a defect with their window regulators; however, they refuse to recall even though it is a definite safety concern. this is the third window i have had fail in the exact manner on my 2004 f-150. a casual search on the internet confirms that ford has had thousands of complaints for this exact default and is refusing to make a repair or recall to address a known safety issue. nhtsa needs to take action on this and force ford to do what a responsible automaker should undertake on their own in order to protect the motoring public.

On the highway, as i hit 40 mph, the engine didn't upshift and disengaged with the drivetrain. when i pressed the accelerator, the engine revved, but there was no power to the wheels. after a couple of failed attempts of shifting to neutral and back into drive (while on the highway), i turned the overdrive function off and the engine engaged with the drivetrain again. i was able to drive home safely. today, the same problem is happening. i called the local ford dealer and they can't get me into the shop for a week due to a high volume (their words to me) of transmission problems. i have found numerous complaints on the web indicating the same problem by other owners. i'm not sure if they are filing a complaint, but it appears that this is a larger issue potentially due to poor quality parts in the transmission.

I was traveling on a main boulevard when all of a sudden the drivers side window slid down with a loud sounding bang. the window did not break. however, what seems to be a spring loaded mechanism, must have broken causing the window to collapse down inside the door. the sound was so loud, it caused a nervous reaction in me which resulted in pulling on the steering wheel to one side. thankfully, there were no vehicles to that side and i was able to correct my steering to get back into my lane. as if one experience was not sufficient, it happened again 9/1/11. this time on the passenger side door. the same exact experience repeated except that this time i was driving at 75mph on i-25. i expected to find a recall to this dis-functional mechanism. what are the chances of this happening almost back to back within a 6 week period?

While driving in traffic my rear passenger side window, for no apparent reason, fell violently into the door. this was a very distracting incident that nearly resulted in an accident.

I have had 2 of my window regulators go out and i have been doing some research and found out that this is a common problem. something needs to be done about this it causes a safety risk since i have kids and when these windows shatter the glass gets everywhere. i have noticed that the same slider on both regulators broke in the same place. please do something about this befor someones kid or my kids get hurt. thank you

First incident: august, 2009 i was driving down the highway going approximately 65 miles an hour when the back passenger side window started decending without anyone pushing the button. i was then unable to use the window again. my infant son was in the back seat next to the window and it was raining. i took the vehicle to the ford dealership and had the window regulator replaced. second incident: january, 2010 once again i was driving and the front passenger side window went down without prompting and never worked again. i am an attorney and was on my way to the courthouse and was forced to leave my car unattended for a short amount of time and obtain continuances on all of my cases that day in order to have my window repaired. i was informed that it was the window regulator and the part needed replaced. third incident: august, 2011 same scenerio, my husband was driving the vehicle on the highway at approx. 55 mph when his window decended without prompting and we were unable to make the window work again. i had to have the window regulator replaced. besides the cost of repairs ($350.00 each window), i believe that this is a safety hazard. i had an infant by the window in the first incident and driving at speed the window could have shattered. also, all incidents occured while i was driving and proved quite distracting. it could have caused an accident. last, because i was unable to make the window(s) go back up i had to leave my vehicle unsecured.
10/09/200972000
Window regulator failure: i have now replaced 3 out of 4 window regulators. my out of pocket cost is slightly over $900.00. the failures have been sudden with no warning.one occurred in traffic at 55mph. i live in colorado and weather could pose a health and saftey issue. more important is consumer protection. three failures in just a couple of years is indicative of manufacturer using substandard parts or components. ford should correct this potentially dangerous situation and compensate those who have had to bear the cost of repair for substandard workmanship and materials. the date of the first and second incidents were close to the listed date the most recent was september 1 of this year. repair work was done by a local shop records are available to refine the dates and exact mileage.

I'm a 16 year veteran in law enforcement. sometime in april 2011, i was driving down the road and my rear driver side window fell down inside the door. the window falling made a loud noise. i could hear the wind and i looked back and didn't see a window in the door. my first thought was someone shot the glass out. my attention to driving was lost for several seconds. i believe this to be a safety issue. i pulled over at the first parking lot i saw and realized the glass was not broken but had fallen inside the door. today 9/2/2011, i was repairing the rear window regulator and the front driver side window fell. i thought how ironic is this. i drove to the ford dealership and purchased the part and returned home. i have fixed both window regulators, but i feel this could cause a traffic crash. i searched the web for this repair and found several forums with people having this same issue. i would like to see ford address this issue.

Passinger window fell into the door while driving on the freeway
06/28/201188450
Two of the four window regulators have broke causing safety and security issues. the parts are expensive and defective. the last malfunction occued when i was driving down the road and the passenger window fell when the vehicle was parked. i heard a popping noise like somebody threw something at the truck and then the window fell into the door. my wife and i have two young children and this poses a large safety risk to them. these parts are obviously defective and should be replaced by ford motor company.

Window regulator on 2004 f 150 lariat drivers door broke allowing the window to drop scaring me so bad that i went off the road just missing crashing into several trees. it sounded like someone had shot out my window, while i was driving in a thunder shorm. the roads were wet, but there was know warning when the windowbroke, then i was getting hit in the face with rain it felt like glass hitting me in the face. this should be a recall by ford, i have reseach this problem and have found it to be massive in numbers with a big expense to ford customers. this many cases seems more than just a fluke incident. this should be looked into, i'm so lucky to be here now i just missed those trees and my wife is now scared that it may happen to one of my other remaining windows and does not want to ride with me anymore..

After a professional baseball game.. i walked back to my truck in a huge parking lot to findi find my right rear window down. my first thought was my truck was broken in to.. but after looking around, i find that my window regulator broke again!! this is the third window that has done this!! i never even roll the back window down so it cant be from abusing the hardware.. ford needs to do something about this soo!! my brother has the same year truck and he had two window regulators go out!!

Window regulator problem. windows falls while driving. replace it once at dealership under warranty. ... it failed again while driving.

2004 ford f150 supercrew starts shaking horribly at highway speeds when pulling a travel trailer. it doesn't matter if you slow down, speed up, or take out of gear the only way to make it quit is to come to a complete stop. this has happened 3 times to me so far and it feels as if all the wheels are about to fall off. i called my dealer and they said that they haven't heard of this problem, but if you do a search on it there is a lot of people concerned of this dangerous issue. luckily i haven't been on an interstate with my travel trailer because i would believe that this could cause me to possibly lose control at those kind of speeds.
04/15/201164000
My truck has been vibrating horribly when around 30 - 60 mph like i was on a washboard road. it is intermittent. i have not repaired my truck yet, but found out it is my rear differential clutch and possibly my e-brake.
04/03/201180000
I know have to replace my third window motor/regulator, this is not right. the first time i was driving and the window just dropped down. the second time same thing only it was raining, now this third time my daughter was in the back seat putting the window down and it dropped down causing her to scream (she is only 8) with her doing that i almost wrecked us all. i did not keep the parts from the first two but will keep the third when i get it fixed later this week.

2004 f150 truck. ii had plugs changed and the mechanic broke three of them, dropping one down on the head. when i complained he said everyone knows that these engines do that. i'm looking at $6000 to pull the motor and get the rest of the plugs in. evidentally everyone in the world knew about the plug problem but me. no more ford products for this old boy. 3/16/2011 campbellsville,ky

While driving, my son sitting in the back passenger seat pressed the window switch to lower the window. when he did, there was a loud sound and the window dropped down. i found out from our mechanic that the window regulator broke. later in the year, i went to lower the drivers side window while stationary, and i heard the motor moving but the window did not lower. it finally slowly fell as i started driving and it would not go back up. again, it was the window regulator that had failed. yesterday, while driving from my place of work and moving about 25 mph, i accidently hit the back drivers side window switch, and i heard a loud noise and saw that the window held fell part way down. again, the regulator had failed. so, within the past year, three of the four window regulators have failed and i have had to replace them.

2004 ford f150 power window regulator failure. i live in a hot and humid part of texas so windows are seldom rolled up and down. however this is the third window regulator to fail on this vehicle. each time there is a low pop and the window suddenly drops and you cannot roll it down. the 2nd time this happened it was the driver side window while i was driving on i-30, in downtown dallas in the pouring rain. try telling me that wasn't a safety issue!

Just driving down the road and the window came down by itself. this is the second power window to go out on our truck. had ford replace it once and need it done on the other door now.

Just replaced my back passenger window motor/harness and now my front passenger window has done the same thing a month later. i have twin boys that i take with me on a regular base just a saftey hazard i thought that would have or should have a recall. happened in my ford 2004 f150 fx4. the thing is i barely use the windows and i was on the highway my window just falls down thank god. my kids weren't with me. not safe and sounds like a lot of people have complained about the same thing on blogs and forms that i have read. also it cost almost 400 bucks to have it fixed ever time it happens not a cheap fix for a father of two. so im at 800

I have a 2004 ford f150 with a defective window regulator. i already know ford has put in a defective part causing the windows to collapse and have seen many cases where this happens to people with fords. there are thousands of complaints that i read for the same problem. i do not understand why you don't push ford for a recall? its not right for customers to pay for repairs due to a manufacturer defect.

I have had all four window regulators go out on my 2004 ford f150 truck. this is ridiculous that there has not been a recall because they are obviously defective. tons of people are going through this and i am fed up with driving with two broken back window that fall down when they are not taped up.

Date of incident: 1/20/2011 vehicle: 2004 ford f-150 complaint: passenger window suddenly descended into door and shattered. driver side window had this issue in august of 2010. replaced by dealer at my cost (approx $400). internet search showed over 1000 complaints on this issue and no recall from ford. this is a potential safety issue and needs to be addressed by ford!!

Three of the four window regulators have broken in my truck, and let the window come down byself. this is on a 2004 ford f-150

Power window regulator failure. plastic part cracks that is attached to the regulator motor which guides the window cable. resulting in the window dropping down inside the door panel. failure occurs approximately every 6-12 months. failure has occurred in all four doors. new replacement window regulator is required to repair the problem.

I have a ford f150 since new and continue to have problems with my windows - tthis is a 2004 fx4 model crew cab / with p/w . i have installed three power window switches now and today had my right rear window fall open when driving - with a very loud crash / bang noise - i thought someone hit me in the next lane and almost swearved to avoid a empty lane / i could have hit someone else or caused injury / this problem is very common i am finding out and yet ford wont help....if someone dies then maybe....

In approximately november 2009, as we were driving our 2004 ford f150 super crew pickup truck down the highway the window in the passenger door fell into the door with a significant crash. when we attempted to roll the power wondow back up it would not roll back up. when we returned home we had to wrap plastic wrap around the door because it was the only vehicle that we had at the time. i work 40 miles away from home and had to drive it with the window down to and from work in winter for several days before ford could get it into the dealership to be worked on. the ford dealership charged us over $400 dollars to fix this issue. later i found that this issue is caused by faulty equipment installed at the factory. here it is, winter time, and it has happened again. today as my husband was driving to the grocery store the driver window crashed down into the door. he didnt try to open it or anything, it just came loose on its own. this time he believes that the window has broken inside the door. i could not imagine what kind of harm this may have caused him or other drivers if it had shattered before the window made it completely into the door. this is the 2nd window on this truck. there are 4 doors all together. we are worried about what may happen when the next window assembly fails.

This is unbeleiveable that ford can get away with these junk regulators on my 2004 ford f150 supercrew !!!!! my daughter was looking out over the rear window holding on to it, and laughing at me while i was washing the truck when the damn thing just broke causing her to fall and hit her face off the door panel !!! then i go online and find 1000's of complaints that ford won't do anything about, so now i have to repair this at my own expenise. ford needs to replace these before someone else gets hurt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
11/29/2010110000
I own a 2004 f 150 4 door supercrew and all 4 windows regulators have failed on their own. i had three fail withn days of each other about a year ago. now, today the fourth one failed. each time one failed i was driving down the hiway at 65 mph and the window slams down scaring the heck out of me. luckily i've been able to maintain control of my truck. the problem is always the steel cable gets kinked up on its own and snaps or kinks up so bad it can not be reused. each time its a 300 dollar fix so when i replace this last one i'll be about 1200 dollars out. i finally looked on the iternet and found out that this problem is common and ford will not own up to their responsibility. i dont know it this is a design flaw by ford or the supplier to ford that makes the window regulator but i do know there has been no recall and that you cannot buy the parts you need except at ford parts dealers only. since ford doesn't seem to care to fix this problem i am never buying snother ford.
08/10/201085000
Three of the four window regulators have broke causing safety and security issues. the parts are expensive and defective. the malfuntion occurs when driving down the road or even when the vehicle is parked. we hear a popping noise like somebody threw something at the truck and then the window falls into the door. we have three young children and this poses a large safety risk to them. these parts are obviously defective and should be replaced by ford motor company for free.

2004 ford f-150 crew cab rear passenger window regulator failure and window shattering indide door. drivers side rear window regulator failed and was replaced several months ago. unable to roll up rear window. ordered parts to have it replaced, the regulator iis more expensive than most regulators
06/15/201091000
In june 2010 the driver's side rear window made a bang and the window slid down into the door frame. dealership charged me $480 for a new regulator as i'm out of my warranty period. 2 months later, august, the driver's window did the same thing. this time took it to my mechanic and it ran me $230. then 2-months after that, october, the passenger's side front window made a bang and it went down into the door frame. 3 windows in 6-months and i'm the only one who rides in my truck so all the windows except for the drivers side get very little usage. based on the number of complaints registered here, i would think someone would demand ford implement a recall.

2004 ford f-150 truck window regulator failures. recently, my driver's side window made a load popping sound, then fell into the door. i brought it into my ford dealership who informed me that this is a common problem where the regulator fails. the repair cost was $400. after doing some research, i've found hundreds of other cases where the 2004 f-150 model had window regulator failures. please advise.

2004 ford f-150 crew cab windows failed. the first happened while driving on an interstate at 70mph; there was a loud noise like a rock hit the passenger door, and the window fell into the door frame. cost to repair: $385. today the driver side window failed in the same manner. i understand from the internet, that this is a failure of the electric window regulator. apparently, ford refuses to acknowledge this as a defect.
10/16/201097993
I own a 2004 ford f150. last saturday we attempted to roll down electric window on passenger side rear. it made a clicking sound and window came crashing down. this left my vehicle vulnerable to rain or theft all weekend. just two months ago we had same problem with front passenger window when on our way to vacation destination. we had to replace power window regulator for cost of $300 plus labor?!?!? looking online i have found many other complaints of same model vehicle with same issues.

2004 ford f-150 power window regulator failed while driving causing the drivers side window to violently fall from the top (closed) position to the bottom (open) position of the door panel. weather was raining and causing not only driving issues but parking issues as well being unable to leave the vehicle in fear of theft or damage.

Two window regulator's broken in 6 days, i am only one of over 800 complaints on this website alone.. just think about how many thousands there must be that just go to the dealer and never take the time to go online to complain. i can see that ford as well as nhtsa has no plans to correct this safety issue. if someone knows of a good class action lawsuit lawyer let me know. i think we must need someone to die in an accident related to this issue before anything will be done. i should have never left toyota, i had three different toyota trucks and never saw a shop other than for an oil change. my 04 f150 had a transmission failure at 75,000 on the dot.. i have put over $5,000 of maintenance into my truck in the four years i have owned it.

Currently own a 2004 ford f150 fx4. the driver side window suddenly fell off the track while driving and into the door, thankfully it didn't shatter. took it to the dealership, wasn't covered under warranty. it was the window regulator. cost around $500 to fix it. a year later the driver side window fell of track when shutting the door and fell down into it. don't really have the money to fix it, so we rigged it to stay up, however it falls slowly while driving and we have to keep pushing it up. now the rear passenger window has fallen down- where our child sits and this is becoming a problem. $1500 to fix 3 windows in 2 years is not acceptable on something that is clearly a defect. ford claims they are waiting for the nhtsa to require the recall from ford, until that happens they wont correct the problem. this is a safety issue as well as a consumer issue. please continue to advise ford of this defect and urge the recall.

2004 ford f150 window regulator failure. i had two window failures in the same day, and had one fixed this past july 2010. this is three window regulator failures in a matter of 3 months. according to the web this has happened alot to ford trucks and should have a recall due to the regulator failures!

I have a 2004 ford f-150 truck, and while my wife was driving to work one morning wham the drivers side window came crashing down and she nearly wrecked due to the scare. my complaint is the the regulator has gone out. i looked into having this repaired and was shocked as to how many complaints their were on this exact same issue. i have had to replace the regulator and am wondering what it will take before ford or nhtsa does something recall . i pray that it does not take the loss of life to have this piece of plastic replaced.

I was driving my ford f-150 pickup into my garage. i pushed the window button to roll down my window and my window dropped to the bottom of my door in a split second. i heard the window glass break. i will be contacting the dealer tomorrow to get the window replaced along with the defective window regulator. i will likely have to have all 4 regulators replaced so this doesn't happen while i am driving or while my vehicle is sitting unattended in a parking lot.

Rear driver side window regulator failed and window dropped while driving.

About one month ago, 2004 f150 back front driver side window fell because the regulater stopped working. i big pop was heard before the window started to fall. i had it repaird for about $300. yesterday, my back passenger side window fell because the regulater broke. it is currently clamped with wedges so the window will not fall.

No sigificant events lead up to.... 3 out of 4 windows on my 2004 ford f150 fx4 had to be replaced because out of the blue they come crashing down. i have spent about 700 dollars so far on this defect and have to go in tomorrow to get my passenger side window fixed which will put me over 1000. ford needs to recall these window regulators and i shoud get every penny i have spent on these pathetic devices back. come on ford, really? i feel like i and everybody else in this same situation have been taken advantage of for ford to make an extra buck. who is going to be the one to raise the bulls@#t flagged and take ford to the bank on this one.

While driving on the freeway, i hear a loud bang from my drivers door. i thought somebody had hit me or threw something at my vehicle. i lost focus of my driving to see what was happening around me. then my drivers window dropped and this scared me and cause me to swerve. i have researched and found that the window regulators on my vehicle are failing all the time. this hapened a month ago and i now have three of my four windown with the same problem. i have had to take my doors apart and permantily fix my windows in the up position as i cannot afford the replacement window regulators. now with my windows in the up position i hope i dont need to get out or them for any unforseen incident.

I came outside to find that my passenger sine window was down. i went to try to roll it up and all i heard was the window motor. after further inspection, it was discovered that a plastic piece that hold the window regulator cable had broke. i am lucky that nobody had stolen my belongings. and what if it had happened when driving down the road and the window were to fall into the door and caused an accident? after researching this problem there have been thousands of complaints.

I was driving my 2004 f150 on the highway. at speed there was a very loud pop and the window fell into the door (i found out later). i had thought it shattered. startled, i swerved. it could have been bad. later i found out it weas the window regulator, come to fing out this is one of the biggest failure items on the 2004. f150. this is a hazard and ford knows about it. they should own up and fix it.

3 power window regulators replaced on my f-150 cuper cab ford lariat truck...driving down the road on 3 seperate occasions and wham the window drops down in the door. happened in 2007, 2009, 2010. $350 each time to get fixed. i'm sure a major thorough investigation regarding the window regulator issue with ford would turn up 1000's upon 1000's of incidents and replacements. this is an obvious problem. while i blame ford corp, i have a problem with the dealer saying it's not a ford problem and that ford has to use the company in mexico they use to replace the windows per the dept of transportation.

While on a 700 mile trip, driving at night in heavy rain, i heard a loud pop on my driver's side door. i wasn't sure what it was, but everything seemed ok. after stopping at a gas station and closing my door, the window feel down into the door. what had happened was the window regulator's pulley had broke causing the metal wire to snap out and the window fall down. fortunately, i had tools with me and was able to temporarily hold the window in place with a pair of vise-grips until i could get home and replace the window regulator track. my concern is what could have happened had my window fell down while driving at night in the heavy rain. i could have easily been distracted causing a momemtary lose of control of the vehicle resulting in a collision.

2004 ford f-150. so far 3 out of 4 window regulators have failed causing the window to drop into the door. this is a security and safety issue. twice the windows failed while driving. the rear window failed while my young daughter was in the back seat and i had to continue travel while wind was blowing on her. my driver side window just failed while driving and startled me enough that i almost wrecked. this is a very expensive repair and the ford dealership even admits that a recall should be issued since they have to do this repair so often.

I have an 2004 ford f150 and over the approximately past 21 months i have had firstly the drivers window came down on its own, (i have a crew cab with 4 doors) then the right rear passenger window about 10 months ago and this week the left rear came down on it's own, (haven't got this one fixed yet) doing so this or next week. the repair cost me $330 approximately $90 labor and $200 plus for the part, i get no explanation as to why or relief over the cost from the dealer, i have not contacted ford directly yet. it is truely a safety issue no matter how you look at. each time, the window was up, i heard a click and down it came... i was not not lowering the windows. i haven't lowered any except the repaired drivers door window since about 10 months ago when the right rear came down.. i only open the left front (drivers) and this includes the moon roof, i don't open that either for fear it will break. the ironic thing is all 3 came down without me touching the buttons to lower or raise them. i see below there is space for only 1 entry for approximate incident date so i will use the first one. two of these incidents were coming or going to my doctor for chemotherapy. i have cancer

While driving the passenger window on my 2004 ford f-150 fell into the door.

I have just had my second incidence of a window regulator snapping in my 2004 ford f150. i was just rolling my electric window up as i was getting my truck washed today, september 4, 2010, and a horrendous pop was heard by me and bystanders outside the vehicle, and the window then slid down into the door panel. i have barely over 70,000 miles on the truck now, and the first incedence occured at 64,273. the first fix cost me $337.66 for the rear driver side, and todays failure happened to the passenger rear. thats twice in 6000 miles. i am forced to drive my other vehicle to as i my vehicle is now unsecure since the window cannot be closed. the first failure was due to the cable snapping, and the same scary sound happened today so i can only conclude that the same part failure occurred today. ford will not fix the vehicle nor the issue which has caused numerous f150 owners to lose out on wages lost to hours missed at work and money paid to have their expensive vehicle back in operating order. ford has offered to let me buy a new part, at my expense, and pay them over $200 labor to replace.

Driving on highway my wife heard a pop then about half hour later the passenger window just drops down into the door cavity. found out on the internet that it is a recurring problem with the ford pickup window regulator mechanism that is defective. took vehicle into a window repair shop and he diagnosed it needing a new window regulator replacement installed. he patched us up to get us home for now, its a holiday weekend and so no possibility of getting the part fast and we are away from home visiting relatives.

I have a 2004 ford f150. three weeks ago the drivers side electric window made a terrible noise and fell into the door and would not come back up. now, yesterday august 31st the back seat drivers side window has done the same thing. i transport my grandchildren alot, they ride in the back seat, in safety seats as requested by law. i do not understand why the safety seats are any different then the possiblity of flying glass from a defective window. there needs to be a recall on this. secondly, i call and make a report with ford, hoping that i can get some resolve. they forward a case and case number to my local dealer where i did purchase this vehicle brand new. i was just told by the service manager that they can not help me, the reasoning behind the decision i was told i do not bring my vehicle in often enough for them to service. well, when i needed tires they wanted over $600.00 i got them for $400.00. when my oil needs to be change i take it to walmart because it is cheaper, i am sorry that i didn't take it to the dealership but when you have been unemployed since january of 2009 you have to save wherever you can. so now, because i tried to save money, so that i can survive the current economic times i am being punished again. i think this is rediculous.the safety of my grandchildren is the utmost importance to me and my husband. something needs to be done so no innocent children get hurt because they are worried about the almiighty dollar. i understand they haven't taken stimulus money and hurrah for them but they need to be responsible in this matter.

Driving around my neighborhood with temperatures in the high 90's low 100's and i decided to roll up my passenger side window i rolled it up and i heard a loud pop or snap and the window slipped down into the door as i was driving. it will not stay up unles i use tape to keep it up. it is obvious how dangerous this could have been were i driving in the rain or snow on the highway or at any speed really the loudness fo the pop was quite concerning and distracting.

For the third time in one year i have replaced the regulator/motor on three different windows. i was on the interstate at the time and was startled when it happened. it concerns me that this continues to happen and i am glad i am generally calm so it did not cause an accident.

My 2004 ford f150 driver side front window quit moving up and down with use of the button. it still makes noise, but does move. the window does move down on its own, whenever it wants to. after researching the problem on google, apparently, it is a very common problem with this year and model of truck. i contacted ford, and got the runnaround about them not knowing of any issues like this one. they will not fix it, unless someone makes them put out a recall. i do not have near enough money to fix this right now and am worried about it falling down while driving, especially in bad weather. it also makes it very easy for someone to break into my truck.

 1. driving on major freeway in my 2004 ford f150 when i here a pop and turn around and notice my back window missing, 2 weeks later i hear the same pop and notice my front side passenger window was sliding down. 1 month after that im riding alone and my driver side passenger window would not work on command. now im riding in my car with 3 windows not working. i have paper holding my windows up as i called ford and was told it would coss me 420 per window to repair not including tax. i also was told to expect my 4th window to go out as well.

 1. when rolling my passanger window up i heard a loud pop and the window fell back down into the door. 2. now my window wont roll up and the cable on the main pully is wrapped around the pully axle and is kinked in several places. 3. i am having to buy a whole new regulator and maybe even a new motor for my door just so i can keep the water and bugs out of my truck and the air in.

All side windows in my 2004 f150 crew cab are failing. a window will randomly fall into door body with no warning. last failure nearly caused an accident due to the distraction and poor weather conditions at the time.

2004 ford f-150 side windows fall down. i have owned this truck less than 1 and a half years and have replaced two regulators to fix this problem. my concern is the danger of these windows when you are traveling along and they just fall down into door. concerned that a child will be hurt while in the vehicle because there is no warning, the window just falls and no more window. at that point you have no protection from the elements, how do you get safely off the road in a bad rain storm with no driver window or if a child would be in a child safety seat in inclement weather and you would be on a major highway. i know ford has remade this part several times but is not informing the public of this hazard.

I have now replaced both the front driver and passenger side window regulators on my 2004 f150 lariat. the driver-side window fell in june 2009 @127k mi. the passenger-side windows fell today (6/17/2010) @ 149k miles. the costs of replacing the regulator in each case were as follows: passenger side: $$539.47 driver side: $500.00 given all the reported incidents of this that i am seeing reported on various websites and forums, i strongly recommend that the nhtsa demand a manufacturer's recall for this obvious quality defect that is: 1) costly to repair 2) creates a dangerous in-car situation when it occurs during operation of the vehicle. thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. -bec

I was driving my 2004 ford f150 supercrew truck. i just turned on the aircondition because it was over 90 degrees outside. i lowered the rear windows to help cool the inside quicker. i heard this loud thud and then a grinding sound as the windows are lowered. i got worried. i then raised the windows and while the right rear window went up, the left rear window did not. instead i heard a grinding sound again. i noticed that the left window is still open. i decided to leave it open since my destination is close by. when i got to my destination, i tried to operate the windows a couple more times to try to close it, but nothing was happening. since i'm worried that something may happen to the truck and everything i had inside, i decided to sleep in the back seat of the truck that night. the following day, i searched the internet to find out how to remove the door panel to determine the problem. i found out instead that there were a lot of complaints regarding the window regulator on 2004 and 2005 f150, in addition to the information i wanted. when i opened the door panel, i found out that the cable is loose and bent. the plastic window regulator has mangled the cable, leaving the window down. i'm now trying to find out how to remove the window regulator to replace it.

The window regulator on front driver side is broken and it only has 39000 miles. this is an expensive repair and the duct tape clashes with the lariat trim.

I have a 2004 f150 lariat and in 2007 my pass rear window fell down, so here i am riding on the expressway and the outside temperature is about 97 degrees when i here this noise from the rear and good thing i do not scare easily or it would have been a terrible accident. i went to the dealer and i was told it would be $500.00 to fix it. so here it is 2010 and the other rear door window has done the same thing, not sure what it will cost this time but i can see there is no recall on this item.

I am the owner of a 2004 ford f-150 pickup truck. so far, 3 of the four window regulators have failed. this is expensive. there is no temporary fix except taping the windows up. this does not allow the vehicle to be secured.

I have a 2004 ford f150-lariat purchased in sept 2004. since purchase i am now at my third window regulator replacement. the front window regulators were replaced 3/2007 and 5/2008. now i am required to replace the right rear regulator at $400 a pop.

All four of the power window regulatators on my 2004 f-150 have failed over the last couple of years. i use the truck for work and generally travel alone so the non-driver windows get very little use.

Driver side window in 2004 ford f150 began squeaking and grinding when going up and down, about 6 months ago. today the window made a loud crunching sound and the glass fell in to the door.

This the first time this has happened to me, window regulator broke.not sure why or how it happened.tried to open the window, then it just fell/ slammed inside the door.kind of freaked me out.i've been on line and found several other people having this problem.

This is the third time the window regulator on my 2004 ford supercrew window has failed causing my window to fall down into the door. the first time the vehicle only had 40000 miles on it and was fairly new. when i called ford i was told this was a known issue with this model. this last time it was at roughly 84000 miles. i am a state trooper who works many crashes every day. i know this is a very serious safety issue for the driver. when the window falls, air blows into the window causing contents of the vehicle to fly about. this seriously distracts the driver and can cause visibility issues (papers flying onto the windshield). even worse an unproperly restrained child can fall out the window. i have contacted the ford mechanics about this issue and they all agree it should have been recalled years ago. the service advisors already know the exact amount of cost for the replacement due to the frequency of it happening. approx $400.00 what is it going to take-a life lost for the problem to be corrected?

I bought a 2004 ford f-150 last year with 36k miles on it. i have had to replace all three windows because i keep coming out to my truck and the windows are down. i checked no recall this morning driving to work another window fell down and i only have 46k miles on this truck. i do believe this should be a recall on these and ford motor company should be responsible for fixing this. from sometme last year will check records for confirmed date every three months i am loosing a window june 10

Driver door power window fell into door, will not come back up. motor sounds as if it's running, but window does not come up, also some noise from inside door panel sounds like parts rattling around when window motor runs.

The power window regulator/motor on my 2004 f150 crew cab driver side door made a discouraging breaking sound yesterday when i tried to put the window down. i have since learned that this is a rear problem with this vehicle and motor assembly. i have read numerous complaints already filed. why has not ford been required to recall these vehicles to repair this problem. i will be taking the vehicle to a local ford dealer for an estimate but reports indicate that this is going to be expensive. please add this complaint to all others and maybe ford should be required to make these repairs. we have trusted ford to provide a quality vehicle but not our trust is misplaced. sam humphries 2140 winterberry drive lexington, ky 40504 859 278-2869

I have had all 4 window regulators fail in my 2004 f-150 super crew. one of the 4, fell slowly, but the other three dropped suddenly and violently, causing a me to be startled while driving. thankfully no accident occurred in any of the 4 incidents. however, two of the incidents occurred in below freezing weather and a rain storm, creating unsafe driving conditions until i could get the vehicle to the dealership for repair. ford is aware of this problem and refuses to accept responsibility for the defective regulators. they claim it is not a safety issue and there has not been a recall. i beg to differ whether it is a safety issue. the window has dropped suddenly while i was driving, sounding as if the window was shattered. being startled while driving is a safety concern as well as possibly having to drive with the window dropped in adverse weather conditions.
05/26/201065000
2004 ford f-150 a power window regulator failure is a huge safety problem . because the window regulator fails, the window come crashing down. some complaints read of the glass actually shattering and falling all over the highway. others were on road trips out of reach of a repair shop. but worst of all, like myself. it's having children and pets in the vehicle with you while this happens. what if you dog decides to jump? what if you kid gets out of his/her seat? what about children throwing things out the window? what about driving in bad weather and having your view become obstructed by sideways rain or worse? it's also a theft issue. no one knows when it's going to happen and what can you do about. pray that someone doesn't seize the opportunity to steal your truck? you think your insurance is going to cover you against theft when they would say you were negligent for leaving the window open?

May 26, 2010 front pax window goes down on it own while driving. window will not come back up noise in door. same as the rear window in april. check the internet of possible issue see that the window regulator is breaking on many 2004-2005 f150 trucks.

April 3, 2010, rear pax window goes down with noise, does not come back up. take it to ford, who replaces the regulator, with no comment on that it is an issue.

I have a 2004 ford f150 and have had to have (2) power window regulators replaced and now the third has failed. twice the parts failed while driving on the highway with my kids in the car. ford should be forced to recall the item and refund any dollars spent previously repairing them.

Windows fell into panel of truck door, due to defective window regulator installed in 2004 f150. this is not very safe for anyone in the car or other cars driving near your vehicle. this happened to the drivers window in october of 2009 and now in may 2010 on both passenger side windows within 2 days of each other.
05/01/201053500
The driver side window regulator broke while rolling up the window so that the window cannot be rolled back up. the regulator can be replaced at a cost of around $350-$400.

2004 f-150 lariat.......driving down the road @ 55 mph and it sounded like a rock hit my rear window. i swerved and thankfully no one was next to me. then i started hearing the wind in the back seat and i looked back and the window was open half way. when i pulled over it fell in the door so i had to drive it home the way it was. that was when i had 38,352 miles on it. the second time i was washing the truck and moved to the passengers side and opened the door and the drivers window fell in the door. how humiliating and unsafe. the date below is the last time it happened. ford should recall these trucks and replace all for window regulators.
05/16/2010146000
2004 f-150, moderate to severe vibration appearing to come from the drive train or drive line. vibration appears in the 55 - 60 mph and can get so bad that i was forced to pull over to check vehicle for damage. problem first surfaced after towing a 3500 lbs trailer for about 60 miles. no problem previously. f150 rated for 5000 lbs. problem occurs intermitently but comes on suddenly and must pull over for fear of losing control of vehicle. attempted typical vibration related repairs. tires completely rotated and rebalanced. transmission flushed and fluid changed. differential fluid changed. transfer case fluid changed. engine electronically checked for operational issues or codes. none. when vibration begins, put f150 into neutral to check for possible engine mount problems. neutral had no effect on easing the severe vibration. attempted simply easing off gas - no effect. vibration remaind severe. only solution is to come to a complete stop and then restart. vibration stops but only for a period of time then comes back just as severe. repairs typically associated with vibration at speed have had no effect. danger is in potential loss of control and having to stop on hi-speed interstate highways with the associated danger of collision from passing vehicles.

Driver side window suddenly stopped working and dropped down into the door. loud sound and sudden rush of air from the open window is a startling and dangerous distraction from driving. there are numerous instances on internet chats and forums of sudden malfunction of the window mechanism in the 2004 ford f150.

I have a 2004 ford f-150 super crew cab lariat. since i purchased the truck, i have had to replace all 4 of the window regulators. on two occasions, i was driving down the road and i heard a loud pop. as i turned to see what the noise was, i observed my windows falling into the door frames. the noise was so loud, i thought someone had thrown something at my vehicle and hit it. it was a scary situation, due to the fact that i was driving and the loud noise was extremely startling. the other two window regulators, which broke on seperate occasions as well, happened while the vehicle was parked. i came outside the first time and thought that i had accidentally left one of my windows down....only to realize that i had yet another broken window regulator. the last one that broke, was easily recognized as a broken regulator, due to my previous experience with the prior 3. i have had to have all 4 of my regulators repaired at extremely high costs. these regulators that just break for no apparent reason are extremely dangerous, not only to the vehicle operator, but other vehicle operators as well. if i did not have the training and experience that i have regarding vehicles, i could have easily inadvertantly caused an accident due to defective parts on my vehicle.

Both driver side windows front and rear regulators failed and windows came crashing down on my 2004 ford f150. it is very expensive to fix and i think it should be recalled. i have spoken to several people who own the same truck and they have had the same failure. the shop wants between $400-$500 to fix each window.

2004 ford f150 xlt supercrew driver's side rear power window regulator failed while driving home from work today, 4/21/2010. the window luckily just dropped into the door without shattering, but i am now faced with an espensive repair. luckily, i am mechanically able to replace the parts myself at home, but this could have been bad had this happened while away from home, or with any of my grandchildren in the truck, had the window shattered as some have reported. i can't understand why ford has not been forced into a safety recall with as many complaints as there are concerning this issue! i just finished ordering the replacement part(s) from my local ford dealer. i will keep the old regulator assembly for a period of time should anyone from the nhtsa request to inspect it. thanks!

When truck was started, left rear window of 2004 f150 crew cab slowly went down all by itself, no button was pushed. wouldn't return to up position. truck was bought used in january 2010 and this is the first time, so far, to happen. ordering replacement part to fix. will keep old part.

2004 f-150 power window regulator failure
04/11/201096000
I'm the owner of a 2004 f-150. i've paid $1,000.00 for two window repairs that fell out of no where at 54000 miles and then again at 54250. i never reported this problem until now because i've got a 3rd fallen window and felt it should be reported and found this website. not to mention that the windows do not go up or down!! the first time was when my daughter was driving on the interstate and the drivers window fell and scared the heck out of her. got it fixed for $500.00. well guess what? two weeks later she called screaming with fear that it sounded like someone had shot out the passenger window on the highway because the passengers window fell, another $500.00. now, sunday april 11, 2010, the back passenger window fell and is being held up with duct tape, i don't have another $500.00 for the repair. how can this be o.k.??
03/25/201060000
The window to the ford f-150 was down about half way. i pressed the button to pull it back up but instead there was a clicking noise and it fell down completely. i pressed to bring it back up but it was useless because it didn't function correctly anymore. this problem has occured 3 times: the two back seat windows and the driver's window. the first time it happend i took it to the ford dealership to get it fixed and was charged 400 dollars. this malfunction could cause saftey hazards.

No events leading to failure passenger side window regulator went out, causing the entire window to drop to the bottom of the door. vehicle unsafe, child may fall out of window, ect. window regulator must be replaced. occurs often.

04/06/201048065
On april 6,2010 driving and went to open driver side window heard a loud pop window dropped down. took to repair shop where mechanic found mechanism was faulty ie cable broke. replaced the mechanism for $292.00. on april 7, 2010 at 3pm my daughter went to roll her down again a pop and the window dropped. i am taking truck to mechanic tomorrow to have fixed. i assume it will be another $292.00. i only have 48,000 miles on my truck and will keep faulty parts.

My third power window regulator broke. each time it was a different window. i had them replaced at the ford garage.
04/02/201045000
Had just rolled up front pasenger side window when i heard a loud thump. i was in heavy traffic and nearly @&*^ my pants. i realized the window had fell from it's track and won't go back up. dealership is closed, will be driving with plastic on the window. not good. researching this problem i see it is a major issue, and likely a safety hazzard.

I month ago, i had the driverside window regulator replace on my 2004 ford 150, today my daughter and i are on our way to the store and the window on the rear passengers side comes crashing down. if this is sa know defect why is frod not replacing them. someone is going to get hurt soon or later by this.

Third time in 5 years power window regulator on my 2004 ford f-150 has failed. failure usually occurs while driving. window simply falls into the door and there is nothing you can do to pull it back up. were this type of incident occur during adverse weather, on the driver's side, serious consequences are highly likely.
02/23/201064065
Power window regulator, driver and passenger windows have failed. was going threw toll booth and window fell. with in 2 weeks the passenger window has done the same thing. after looking for parts, i have found that this is happening to a lot of people.
02/01/2010100000
Windows would roll up and down normally with no problem. one day in feb. of 2010 my pasenger backseat window fell down halfway into the door. i could not use my power switch at all. in fact when i tried it gave off a burnt smell. i was told to replace the window regulator. i couldn't find one locally so i temporaraly fixed it by putting a heavy duty piece of cardboard in the door to hold the window up. no more than about 2 weeks later, my driverside backseat window did the exact same thing. so i searched online and found a new pair to replace the broken ones. then on 3/22/2010 while driving, my driverside front window began to creep down. i tried the switch and slam! the window fell all the way into the door. i can't even pull it out enough to tape it shut. i am truely upset because not only is this a huge inconvienience, but a safety hazzard. each window regulator is roughly $130-$145 depending on which side is needed. this price is picked up, not an installed quote. my parts are ordered and on thier way.

2004 f-150 supercrew 2wd. passenger window slid down without warning. tried to raise it but nothing happened. can hear the motor running but will not raise the window. thought it just came off the track, brought it to the shop and was told it would be $250-300 for repair. then i saw all the other complaints on this site... sounds like there is a good case for a recall to fix a sub-par part.

I bought a 2004 ford f-150 supercrew truck last october. when i took it home from the dealer, i rolled down the passenger-side rear window and it just dropped inside the door. i took it back to the dealer and they fixed it. i thought it was just a random incident or that it just came off the track and no big deal. well, a couple days ago (now that i've had it for 1 year and no warranty) i picked up my kids from school and as we were driving home the driver-side rear window (the other one this time) fell down inside the door. i had no warning, didn't hit any button, and suddenly wondered where the wind was coming from. at first i thought my kids rolled it down but hey didn't. i tried to roll it up with the power control button on my arm-rest and nothing happened. all i heard was a grinding sound and remembered what happened the first time around and went awww great! this is the second window in a year and after researching heavily online i discovered i'm not alone. i am dumbfounded as to how this issue with ford window regulator/motors and cable/pulley assemblies has not forced a recall!!! how is this possible with all of the complaints posted with nhtsa and online forums? i have been told this isn't a recall issue because it doesn't affect emissions or safety, but if that's the case, how is this not a safety/security issue??? i'm lucky that my window didn't shatter and hit me or, more importantly, my children! not only that, but what if this had caused an accident? nobody should be driving down the road, hear a loud clunk, freak out, and swerve off the road! not a safety issue? seriously? and what about this being a security issue? how in the hell do i keep my window up and lock my truck while i'm shopping for groceries or something? not only could someone steal something inside but they could steal my truck! if this isn't a security issue then why do i have remote locks/alarm? something has to be done about this! i don't have $400 to throw away in this economy! *tr

We own a 2004 f150 lariat 4x4 pickup with just over 50k miles on it. in less than 3 months two (2) of the four (4) power windows have dropped without warning. these windows have simply fallen down driving the vehicle without any bumps or accidents preceding them falling. what is worse is that my two year daughter was in car seat yesterday next to the back window that dropped as we were driving. what if some debris from passing traffic or semi trailer had blown by...this would have been a major catastrophe. and all ford can say is...sorry, it will cost you $400 to fix. well, that isn't good enough. something needs to be done about it. far too many incidents like this are happening. see the following hyperlink for others with similar problems. http://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/f-150/2004/windows_windshield/window_does_not_roll_up.shtml. *tr

Was driving my 2004 ford f-150 supercab pickup truck (4.6l v8 2wd) at highway speed when i heard a loud bang and scared me enough to nearly lose control of my vehicle. the sound i heard i thought was someone shooting out my drivers side power window when it turns out it just fell into the door because of a faulty power window regulator. now it will cost me nearly $400 to replace when it is just a plastic clip. turns out that this is a very common problem with ford trucks and am shocked that this has not been recalled by the nhtsa since this is a serious safety issue as the doors and windows, as well as the seatbelts, are what keeps the driver and or passengers in the vehicle...i am extremely upset not at the repair cost but that my safety is being compromised at ford motor company's expense with nothing being done about it. just how many people need to complain about this before it is recalled or are we just waiting for a serious injury or a death for something to happen. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150. the contact noticed that the paint on the hood and the front end of the vehicle was abnormally chipping. he took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the failure resulted from when the vehicle was manufactured. the coating of the paint was 10-12 mm. as a result, the thick coating inevitably led to the paint chipping. the contact is in the process of notifying the manufacturer. the failure and current mileages were 86,000.

I own a 2004 f150 supercrew. i purchased the vehicle with 24000 on it, and i also purchased an extended warranty that was suppose to cover the vehicle bumper to bumper. or, so i was told when i purchased the coverage. in addition to having the rear window repaired twice the side windows also seem to be defective. my first window fell when i only had 37000 on the vehicle. so much for an extended warranty. i still had to pay $100.00 to cover the deductible. i now have 43000 on my truck and window #2 has broken. i was sitting in a parking lot when we heard a loud bang. i pushed the button to roll down the passenger window and that was it. window number 2 had broken. it's was 115 degrees, and i had a 40 mile trip home. not only could my tools and the medical equipment i carry be stolen but, its possible the truck could be stolen as well. i am now not comfortable taking my truck any where. its very disturbing to pay for a new vehicle and have things like this happen. i have built race cars and trucks, and i have never seen door window regulators fail like this. the window has maybe been used 20 times. i rarely have anyone sitting in the passenger seat. this indicates to me that ford installed defective window regulators in the newer style f150 trucks. after looking on the internet, i see i am not alone. this problem has happened to many others. it seems to me that this qualifies as a recall or bulletin at the least. you can imagine my anger when i found out that i had to pay for the repair. not only should this not happen in a new vehicle, now i am not sure i should even take the chance to drive it anywhere for fear it could be stolen. please know that if anything is stolen out of my truck or the vehicle it self is stolen, because the window has broken, i will alert my insurance carrier of the window situation. i would appreciate an explanation why this is not considered a recall. *tr

I own a 2004 ford f150 the windows in my truck have fallen damaging window tint scratching windows the part that holds the window up is made of plastic and the replacements are made of the same materials as oem which causes the same problem to occur again each time the part fails the cost is $160 only from the dealer i have researched this problem on different ford sites and many ford f150 owners are having the same problem i don't think this is fair to the consumer to have to keep repairing at their own expense with a replacement part that will fail the same as the original part. i only have 24,000 miles on my truck the lowest of the group of people i have found while researching, *one of my windows back passenger side* was rarely ever opened so it begs the question why a part would just up and break for no reason. please help consumers we are not getting any help from ford. thank you in advance. *tr
