| General ameritrac tr tires, size p255/70/17. i had to replace all 4 original equipment tires on my 05 ford f-150 4x4 after only 22,000 miles because the tread was separating from the tires to the point you could see the steel belts. before that i had numerous punctures and repairs from things as light as a stick. i had nothing but troubles from these tires since day one and can't figure out why ford would put such a poor quality tires on there vehicles. i believe both general tire and ford owe me some kind of reimbursement for my trouble, time, and new tires. i was told by the ford dealer that replaced them that general tire would not honor any type warranty on these tires. *tr | |||

| My paint job was defective and thin, my windshield was not sealed properly, there are ticking noises from under the dashboard, the front end is too heavy for the added weight to the truck, the transmission stalls the truck when it rolls backwards in drive, the truck shakes at high speeds and has excessive tire wear, which is the only thing that ford has all but admitted to by extending the excessive tire wear/ride harshness warranty from 1yr/12,000 miles to 3yrs/36,000 miles. have you ever heard of a car company giving away something unless there was a serious problem with this vehicle. *nm | |||

| Dt: at 400 miles the vehicle shook violently when putting pressure on the brakes. this happened on may 18, 2005. contacted the dealer, and then took the vehicle to the dealer, who claimed the rotors were warped from heat. they got permission from ford to put on different rotors. after leaving the dealer the brake light came on. the consumer went back to the dealer. they checked and discovered there was no brake fluid in the master cylinder. left the dealer again , went to apply the brakes and there was no brake fluid in master cylinder, the fluid was in the rims of the vehicle, and on the ground. this wore out the tires and the brakes still were not working properly. ford was suppose to send a representative to meet with the consumer , and had not done so. currently, the consumer went to a different dealer , and they just swapped the tires from the front to the back. then , they changed/ turn ed the rotors. the consumer spoke with manufacturer , who blamed the dealer, but the dealer blamed the manufacturer. *ak | |||

| Dt: consumer complained that jack that came with vehicle does not extend high enough so that he can change a flat. the flat tire will come off, but the replacement tire that is inflated will not go on with the jack fully extended. consumer had a flat on vehicle at on august 4, 2005 around 1:00 am. consumer had to call for help. he was stranded due to improper jack. he was unable to change the tire. tow truck driver t came to the scene used his jack to lift vehicle, and tow truck drivers jack was also too short. he had to use a 4x4 piece of wood under jack to change flat. consumer believed that jack was probably made for a 15 inch tire. this vehicle had 17 inch tires. when changing the flat with the jack supplied with vehicle it fell off of the jack.*ak updated 1/4/2006 - *nm | |||

| 2005 ford f-150 with ameritac tr owl tires has a disintegrating sidewall. customer states tire manufacturer referred to the problem as run flat which caused the tire to fail. *kb inspection of the tire prior to sending it to the manufacturer showed that there was no indications of punctures or holes in the tire tread over the range of the tread pattern including the remainder of the intact sidewall. the tire bead was intact and not damaged on both the inner and outer sidewalls, although the outer sidewalls had disintegrated and mostly missing. there was no indication of a long term wear pattern due to under inflation. examination of the tire after the failure showed the outer sidewall reinforcing piles were missing and the tire failure was potentially the result of a defect in the tire. *jb | |||

| Dt: contact had a problem with the tires on new 2005 ford f150. he has had to have the tires rebalanced every 100-200 miles .the dealer replaced 3 of the tires because they could not get them to balance within the limits. the first tire was replaced at 56 miles. now the left front tire has a hunk of tread out of the tire. they were saying vehicle hit something to cause this, but vehicle has not hit anything, and that the tire was a road hazard . also, it was not covered under the warranty. there was vibration in steering wheel while driving 50-60 mph. they put a stabilizer on the left rear in the frame to try and correct the problem, but the tires still were unbalanced. *ak | |||

| I have a 2005 ford f150 leased in july of 2005. i have experienced two incidences where a tire has gone flat in a matter of seconds while highway driving at speeds near 60 mph. i was able to avoid an accident in each case but this could have gone terribly wrong if i was not able to control the vehicle to pull off to the side of the road as it was difficult to control or to keep in my lane. the second incident occurred on july 17, 2006. while driving at highway speed, near 65 mph, my right rear tire went flat within 5 seconds. i had a difficult time trying to steer the truck and nearly collided with the vehicle next to me. i removed the wheel from the truck and took it to a local ford dealer. the tire technician inspected the wheel and told me the valve stem was leaking; no hole or puncture in the tire could be found. they removed the tire from the rim and inspected the tire to find damage in the inner wall of the tire. i requested that the tire, valve stem, and labor be covered under warranty. the service representative told me that he did not think it was their fault. he stated that i would have to buy a new tire and they would replace the valve stem. i argued that i had nothing to do with the failure of the tire and i believed it should be covered under warranty. i explained that i though ford has a safety issue with the valve stems and he continued to tell me i must have hit a pot hole or something. i was very upset that he was entirely avoiding the issue at hand and blaming me for what appears to be a manufacturer's defect. *jb | |||
