I have had two window regulators fail and the windows come crashing down unexpected while driving at high speed in ford f150 and not touching the window controls. the windows will not go back up and have had to be fixed. i live in northern climate with bad weather and the conditions are dangerous to drive in with a window down and children in the back seat.

Power windows devices & controls - window regulator failure my wife and i drove my 2005 ford f150 to pick up my son up from kindergarten and while driving home, going approximately 25 mph during a severe florida thunder storm we heard a loud pop, then crackle which sounded like it came from the drivers side of the truck. i pulled over in the storm to see if anything struck the door. since i saw nothing i pulled back onto the road and continued to drive home, then all of a sudden the front drivers side window abruptly flew down into the door and dissappeared. my 5 year old son who was sitting directly behind me on the driver's side in his car seat, was terrified, crying and wet from rain flying in the window, we were 5 minutes from home and pulled into the garage. my son and i were soaked and all three of us were shaken. i have recently found out the issue was caused by a window regulator failure. this could have caused an accident and is highly dangerous, especially with a small child in the car. when researching the issue further i found that there are numerous complaints from consumers, however ford has not responded, nor addressed this extremely hazardous issue. currently my window is taped with a bag to cover the window hole as we don't have the funds to fix this issue since both wife and i were laid off recently. this issue is not just about the cost it's a safety concern that needs to be reviewed. is it a faulty part on the manufacturer's side, is it a ford engineering problem? what does it take for a recall? do individuals need to be hurt or worse die in order for a recall. shame on ford for letting an issue like this receive multiple consumer complaints with no action or resolution. this is not normal wear and tear.

2005 ford f-150 had left and right side window regulators fail while vehicle was traveling. the right side failed first then the left side failed a few days later. the window dropped completely when the regulators failed.
06/30/201169150
Rear passenger side window regulator broke. i rarely if ever have passengers ride in my truck and even less so in the rear, so the window rarely ever gets used. my truck is not driven and has been sitting for 4 months in my driveway. i came home one day to my rear passenger window down inside the door. the window regulator broke while just sitting in my driveway not being used or tampered with. i also keep a windshield sunscreen inside the windshield to keep heat down.

My driver's side window on my 2005 ford f-150 won't roll up anymore. while doing research for parts i noticed that this is a very common problem with this particular vehicle. the part that is used is defective and should be recalled. it is unsafe for my babies and myself to have to constantly have the window down. the cost to fix the problem is around $500-$900 dollars. i am afraid that in the event of an accident i or my children could be seriously injured without the window in place. ford needs to take responsibility and correct a deffect.

Driver side window was in the up position but dropped into the panel while the vehicle was in motion. vehicle was taken to the garage where i was informed the window reglator was bad. window could have shattered, injuring driver and passenger in the back seat, or, causing an accident.

The front and rear drivers side windows have suddenly failed on my 2005 ford f-150. the windows suddenly roll down and are not able to roll back up.

Was driving down highway, went to let driver window up, the window slams up very fast, made this loud popping sound than falls to the bottom of door, it would not go back up or down, it really scared me didnt no what was going on. had to put foled paper in window to keep it up. all you can here is somthing moving inside but window will not move. this could really be a safety issue.

Driver window regulator failed and window dropped into the door. no way to get window closed without removal of door panel. very unsafe to drive with no window during inclimate weather. there needs to be a complete review of all the fails of this single part.

While driving my 2005 ford f-150 the passenger side window suddenly and loudly slammed down into the door panel causing extreme distraction to the driver. the power window regulator had an internal failure and failed to be able to support the window any longer. the power window regulator required replacement. *tr

I have a 2005 ford f150 truck. the end of december 2009 the driver's side window fell down. it started with the electric window button sticking and ended up all of a sudden falling down. the ford mechanics said this is not unusual and could happen to all 4 windows. this is not a covered service for repair.*cw

Your site shows a high number of complaints on the vehicle i own, a 2005 ford f-150, in which people are startled when a side window on this vehicle pops loud enough to be a gunshot, then falls into the doorframe. in reading their complaints you can see how lucky some of them where to avoid an accident. much less having to pay ~$400. to have it repaired by ford. this clearly is a design flaw that should be corrected and paid for by ford motor co. my question to you is, why haven't you investigated this matter yet??? *tr

I own a 2005 ford f150 supercrew pickup. while driving i tried to lower the driver-side front window. as soon as i touched the power window switch the window fell all the way down into the door and became inoperable. after taking the inner door panel off i could see a mess of snarled cable inside the door. the local ford dealer wants over $400 to fix this problem. the service tech at the dealer admitted this was a problem he sees regularly and from what i have read on the internet i should expect to see the other 3 window regulators fail as well. this could be a safety issue as the window drops quickly and unexpectedly. the window could break or startle the driver enough to cause and accident. *tr

On the f-150 trucks from years ranging 2004-2009 the power windows are failing due to a plastic piece that holds the cable in place. once this plastic piece breaks and the weight of the glass cause it to fall into the door. the issue is this, if the plastic piece is all that keeps this window up, it is not long until car thieves find out that all they need to do is put enough pressure down ward on any of the windows and cause it to break. this issue is all over the internet, and ford dealership are acknowledge that this is a problem, but ford seems to think other wise. *tr

I was driving my 2005 ford f150 and all of a sudden bam sounded as if someone through something at my passenger window. the noise startled me so bad i ended up swerving into the next lane and almost crashing, come to find out; my window fell into the door and is now broken. upon looking into the situation i have realized many other complaints online about power window regulator. things like this need to be recalled and taken care of for the safety of the driver. *tr

Owner of a 2005 ford f150 supercrew 4x4. i cannot say that any particular event lead up to the failure of this issue. the passenger side rear power window fell inside the door due to a defect in the window lift assembly. apparently a cable came loose that supports the window and it will no longer stay up. this creates a huge safety issue for my children in the backseat, not to mention theft and weather concerns. as far as repair, i contacted the local ford dealership only to find out the replacement cost for repairs, which was close to $400.00. i balked at that having this repaired currently and simply duct taped the window up to at least prevent rain from entering the vehicle. i have not attempted to fix this issue myself (cannot without $200 part), but the part in question is still installed on my vehicle. upon further research, it appears that this is a very common problem with this vehicle and ford is doing nothing to remedy this problem. some owners have had 2-3 windows with the same problem. it does not appear to be a wear issue. i believe a plastic clip that holds a cable deteriorates and becomes faulty over time regardless of use. i would definitely not consider this a maintenance-type item. *tr

We have a 2005 ford f-150, my husband is deployed and the truck sits for long periods of time. on july 3rd, me and my daughter (five years old) were driving the truck when the wndow fell. what if the window would have shattered and hurt my child?? this window has been up and down maybe a hand full of times! this was by no way an over time incident. ford is opting to have cheap parts produced, while never thinking of the effects on the driver or passengars! reading on line, this is a very common problem. i think its about time someone take some action and stand up to them! what if the glass would have shattered and my daughter end up in the emergency room or something? then there's more out of pocket expenses, due to neglegence on ford's part. i'm already out of pocket 350.00 due to ford trying to save themselves a little money and producing yet again very cheap,

2005 f-150 window regulator fails without warning. had one replaced under manufacturer's warranty and another failed at 48k miles. seems to be a common trend amongst ford vehicles. i understand that this problem is not just limited to the 2005 models. also appears in expeditions. this is a serious risk for theft, as well as a danger to the occupants. most recent failure occurred while driving. it was raining when the window fell, making it difficult to drive. could have easily resulted in an accident. *tr

Leaving work i went to put down my drivers side window. i heard a loud pop and the window glass fell to the bottom of the door. immediately took it to the local ford dealer and he knew what it was from my description and advised of a $90 diagnosis charge. two days later and 400 dollars less in my pocket, they had to replace the window regulator assembly. apparently from all of the complaints, it is a known problem and ford should be held responsible and the nhtsa should also take action against ford and demand a recall. *tr

2005 ford f-150 fx4 - driverside window/door, heard a loud pop in the door and the window (in the up position) dropped to the bottom of the door. this occurred while traveling on interstate 235 in iowa at an approximate speed of 70 mph. this incident could have very easily caused a fatal accident. *tr

Within the last four months (shortly after the 3 year warranty expiration) three of four power window regulators have failed in my f-150. the dealer indicates that this is one of the most common repair actions for f-150's. this is clearly a well documented and complained about product deficiency that is also a major safety hazard because when the failures occur the window drops into the door panel. my most recent failure which occurred last week was during a serious rain storm with my child sitting at the rear passenger window when it failed and fell into the door panel. *tr

Driving down the road at about 30 mph i heard wind blowing into my 2005 ford f-150 and noticed that the right rear window had fell down about half way i tried to roll up the window with no success. i had to tape the window so that it would stay in the up position. the truck only has about 30,000 miles and this is the second window i have had to repair. this was very troubling to me that my window could just fall down with no one pushing the button or anything. i wondered what if my truck was just parked in a parking lot and this occurred someone could easily steal everything in my vehicle. i looked on the internet to see if anyone else was having this problem and found thousands of people have had the same problem. the window regulators on the 2004 and 2005 f-150's are faulty and dangerous. and it is time that someone make ford take responsibility for their faulty equipment. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f150 purchased brand new in 2005. the front windshield completely lost its seal. while driving at speeds of less than 30 mph, he heard five loud banging noises in front of the windshield. the dealer stated that the installation of the windshield was not ford manufactured and would not assist with the repair costs. the vehicle was purchased brand new from a ford dealer and has not had any repairs to the windshield. the failure and current mileages were less than 47,197.

My passenger window fell down inside the door frame. this is the second time this has happened. the first time i was going down the highway and the drivers window fell down in the door. it was pouring out an i couldn't see where i was going with the rain blowing inside. i pushed the window up button and nothing happened. i took it to the dealer and it was 240.00 to get fixed. im lucky it wasn't raining this time. i hope ford motor is looking at this issue. this is a real safety concern while driving in bad weather, just to have the window fall down with no warning!! thanks. *tr

My 2005 ford f150 just dropped the driver side window down into the door due to the poorly designed faulty window regulator. from searching the web this is a well known defect that is abundant in f150's. this is a safety hazard as this happened in rush hour traffic and i thought i had been shot at and drove off the road into a ditch and banged my shoulder. this is well known to be an issue and is a major safety hazard. this needs to be recalled before someone gets killed! *tr
11/07/2008358751
This has happened two times now. while driving, i hear loud pop or bang and then the window will fall into the door. this has happened on the passenger side and drivers side. this nearly caused an accident because i thought someone was shooting at me. it startled me quite badly. ford should be required to issue a recall on these window regulators. parts are available to repair, but the repair does not permanently fix the problem. this is dangerous because most people cover the window with plastic while waiting for the repair. if they can't afford the repair they may drive around for weeks or months with a plastic window that completely blocks visibility. *tr

I had an incident with my 2005 ford f-150 window regulator in which the passenger side window just dropped down inside the door while the vehicle was parked in march of 2008. because it was still under warranty, i took it back to the dealer and they replaced the window regulator. i asked the service manager what caused the window just to drop down inside the door while the vehicle was parked and he stated that they were having problems with the window regulators in the '04 and '05 f-150's. at that time i told him that i wanted the other window regulators replaced. he asked if i had any problems with the other ones and i replied that i had not yet. he said there was nothing they could do. i explained my concern being that the truck would be out of warranty in 3 months and that i wanted it to be fixed while still under warranty. he told me that if i did have a problem and it was due to faulty equipment, they would replace it. twenty four days after my warranty expired the driver side window dropped down inside the door while driving on the road. i was not winding it up or down, it just dropped down inside the door with a loud crash. it scared the heck out of me and i almost hit the median guard rail. i pulled off the road to see what happened. i could see the top of the window through the opening and figured it was the problem with this window regulator. when i called the dealership, they stated that because the truck was out of warranty, there was nothing they could do. i explained that this is faulty equipment and they told me to take it up with ford. i have written ford customer service on ten different occasions and only ever received one response. they asked what i wanted done and i replied that i just wanted it replaced. it has been almost 2 months now and i have received no other responses from ford and my window is still not fixed. i have had to drive in rain and 110 degree temperatures without a driver's side window. window regulator problem. *tr

Normal driving with windows up, heard loud bang and we thought someone had hit or thrown something at our pickup. then i noticed driver side front window slowly sliding down and finally falling into door. pickup is for all intents unsafe. can not put up window. i see on other websites and this one that this is a very common problem, and ford should be made to fix this with a safety recall. this happened 2 months after warranty was up with less than 15,000 miles on vehicle. totally unacceptable. *tr

Window regulator-early failure-ford would do nothing. after reading many blogs-it's a real big problem. ford is charging 350-or so to repair over and over again, many people have had 4-6 repairs on the same vehicle with 40,00 miles on them, ford refuses to stand behind. *tr

8/26/07 front passenger window falls. 7/19/08 front driver window falls. 1st fixed warranty. 2nd fixed $100 deductible (extended warranty). continual recurring problem just after warranty according to internet. approx. ford charge $200+ and 1.5 hrs. (internet). 3 ford mechanics say 15 min. fix and a truck owner says 35-45 minutes in his driveway (internet). the faulty cable can't be purchased from dealer (for do-it-yourself) without buying window also (internet). this obvious defect seems to be a money maker for ford. this is not only an aggravation and inconvenience, but also a security (safety) problem. this situation can occur while vehicle is parked and driver not in attendance. upon returning, driver may find mugger in back, contents missing or vehicle stolen due to easy access through fallen window. *tr

I have read many complaints just like mine, ford told some people they had way too many complaints to do anything about a recall on this. last year the drivers window popped and the window dropped inside the door i went to ford bought the cable and regulator and had a window company replace it. 2 weeks ago same thing on the passengers front window, next day the passengers back window dropped while i was in my house, the drivers back window is the only one left. this truck is a 2005 the parts are not that old. *tr

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) i own a 2005 ford f-150 super cab california limited edition bought brand new and now has 48388.9 miles and i heard a loud pop as i was at the light,i then looked around and rolled the window down ( drivers door side) and the whole window fell inside the track. i had to call a repair man to fix it and he charged over $200.00 dollars. i feel this is a safety issue (someone could get scared because of the loud pop or the window falling inside the track as your driving causing a distraction to the road and vehicles surrounding them).i feel that there should be a recall because of that and that ford should be responsible for replacing all the windows regulators in all affected vehicles including the other three windows in my truck before it does the same thing and cause another distraction. from my understanding as i was researching on the computer there have been already many complaints.  2005 f-150 fx4 5.4l triton 43,000 miles while driving to work one morning, i heard a loud thud!! in shock, thinking something may have crashed through my window, i immediately pulled off to the side of the road during very busy a.m traffic. i could not find any trace of broken glass. i then looked inside the door and saw that the glass had just fallen in????? i could press the button and hear the motor, but absolutely no movement from the glass. two weeks later, with a 2x4 holding the window up on the passenger side of a 35,000.00 dollar automobile, me my two year and my eleven year olds in the back, were on interstate 10.unbelievably, my drivers side window comes crashing down and explodes in the door!!!! with the wind rushing unexpectedly in, and the loud crash of the glass breaking in the door, i temporarily lost control of my vehicle. knowing i had my families life at stake, i immediately gained control and brought my truck to a screeching halt in the emergency lane. from that moment, i have contacted the better business bureau, called ford and made complaints. according to the ford parts person i spoke to the other day the window regulator part# has changed now 3 times and he stated that ford never changes the part # unless there is a physical change to the part and he stated they have had issues with these regulators thus the change, he stated that the newest version has been beefed up around the plastic clip that keeps breaking off, hopefully the newest versions have corrected the problem but as you can see just by the fact that ford has changed the part # 3 times they know about this problem and now they need to fix this safety hazard on all of our windows. *tr

I purchased a ford f150 xlt v8 5.4 2wd truck in july of 2005. since then i have had to replace the regulator for the driver side power window. i just had the last one replaced in october of 08'. it is starting to fail again. when i press the button for the window to go down, once down it won't come back up. i have to physically lift the window back up. this is a noted and constant problem with this vehicle. ford is aware of the issue but won't issue a recall or design a fix for the problem. in speaking with mechanics from ford, this issue started with the new model that came out in 2004. the 2005 models are prone to the defect. i should not have to replace the regulator three times in four years. this is an obvious issue to which i see no resolve. please look into the matter. *tr

I was driving my 2005 f-150 truck with 37,500 miles on it, when i heard a rattling noise coming from my drivers side window. it sounded as though the window was not all the way up. i then pushed the button to wind the window up and then the whole window just fell back into the door with a loud crash. i drove home and opened the door panel to see if the window was broken and it was not. i called a ford dealership and he said it was a common problem with the window regulator and that there was a redesign. i asked if there was a recall on it and they said that ford doesn't consider it a safety issue and therefore a recall is not required. i said that i was driving down the road at 60 mph and my window falls out with a loud bang distracting me and being 35 degrees and raining out and that is not a safety issue. he then said ford doesn't see it that way. i had to pay $333 to fix a problem that ford knows about. *tr

I own a 2005 ford f150. it has 63,000 miles and is well taken care of. july the 7th, 2009 the passenger side window dropped due to a regulator failure. i replaced it at an extremely high cost. then on august 28th, 2009 the drivers side window fell. neither time was i in a situation that endangered me but i was in a thunderstorm while the first window was down and not fixed. do you know what it is like to run along side an 18 wheeler during a rain storm. of course i pulled over and stopped. this is a dangerous part failure. the dropping noise is tremendous. scare the wits out of you plus the weather could make the situation worse. the really scary thing is they are replacing these regulators with the same thing that failed. look at the web about ford window regulator failures. there are hundreds and hundreds of them and then think about the number of drivers that do not know about this problem other than they may have had a failure and not know there is an epidemic. *tr

Window fell down (from a fully up position) into driver-side door while in heavy traffic. sound resembled a gun-shot which distracted my attention from the road and nearly caused an accident. research shows this to be a common failure in southern and western states due to heat-related component failures. repairs have not been made at this time due to high cost of parts and labor. vehicle only has 36k miles and has been very well taken care of and serviced regularly. due to the number of incidents of failure of the power window system in these trucks, ford should issue a recall before someone gets hurt. perhaps class-action litigation would force the manufacturer to take responsibility for this obvious design failure. *tr

I have a 2005 ford f-150 crew cab. in short, the window regulators are failing at a high rate, and yet the issue is no being addressed at all. how is this a safety issue, you might ask? the windows- without warning- will make a loud pop and simply fall down into the door panels. when you are in a rain storm or if it is snowing, this is an issue (especially with children in the vehicle). the loud thud is enough to possibly make one have an accident on the road. ford has yet to issue a technical service bulletin or formal recall for this issue. someone needs to lobby on the behalf of safety or a class action lawsuit should be initiated.... please advise. *tr

Was driving down the highway @ 65 mph / temp 25 degrees in my ford 150 ( 2005 ) with my infant son and my drivers side window came crashing down. this scared me as i didn't know what had happened and thought something had hit my vehicle. after i pulled over and calmed down and realized what had actually happened i continued to drive several miles on the highway to get home. with temps at 25 degrees it was very cold for my son in his car seat. this issue could cause a serious accident as it's very scary when the window slams down and could cause somebody to get in accident. went to ford and they stated i need a new window regulator..... i noticed on the web that there is hundreds of complaints related to fords window regulators ........not good! *tr

This is the fourth time i have had this problem. pretty much every thing is fine then i will get this grinding sound when i attempt to roll down or up a window. the same fix is required each time from the dealer. the window actuator breaks and has to be replaced. today marks the day that officially every window on this vehicle has had this problem. my vehicle only has 37,000 miles on it. *tr

In the past 25 months all 4 of the electric window regulators on my 2005 f150 super crew have broken and the truck only has 57k miles on it. the problem was the same for all, the plastic parts that retain the end of the drive cable let loose and then the cable unwraps from the motor pulley. since ford does not sell any service parts for these regulators the entire assembly must be replaced at a cost of about $200 each. so far it has cost me a total of $815.56 and i am extremely upset over this situation. as a comparison, i drove my 1985 and my 1994 f150's for 152k and 204k miles respectively and never had a single electric window problem with either. also, the service and parts staff at the dealership admit there is a high failure rate on these regulators but ford is not issuing any recalls. i would like ford to issue a recall on these window regulators and reimburse the costs paid by those of us who have had to replace them already. the only failed regulator i have is the one i replaced most recently. *tr

My ford f150 window regulator has went out on 3 different windows in 3 months. the window for no cause ie.. rolling up or down window out of the blue a loud pop and the window falls inside the door where it will stay until the regulator is replaced. i've been doing y research and i've discovered i'm not alone. this is a huge safety issue that needs to be taken care. there's clearly a problem. *tr

Within the last tree months (shortly after the 3 year warranty expiration) three of four power window regulators have failed in my f-150. the dealer indicates that this is one of the most common repair actions for f-150's. this is clearly a well documented and complained about product deficiency that is also a major safety hazard because when the failures occur the window drops into the door panel. my most recent failure was during a serious rain storm with my child sitting at the rear passenger window when it failed and fell into the door panel. although this ford defect is widely documented ford motor company is doing nothing for it's customers. the cost for power window regulator replacements in my less than four year old 2005 f-150 (each door has a different part/price each of which was over $400) has already exceeded all of my combined repair costs for my previous f-150 over a ten year period. i have been a die hard ford product buyer (pinto, tempo, granada, mercury marquis, ranger and three f-150's) but quality, customer service and loyalty to the customer no longer hold any value to the ford motor company. for the first time in my life i am actually considering trading in my ford for a chevy (ughhh) to avoid another window repair that could be applied to a new vehicle payment. one thing is for sure, after dealing with these f-150 window problems, if ford is not willing to correct their problem and properly support their consumers i will never purchase another ford product.*tr

For the past year i have been hearing a popping or clicking type noise coming from my front driver side window of my 2005 ford f-150, i didn't think anything of it, 2 days ago i got into my truck shut the door, bam the window falls into the door, i hit the window button, nothing but a crackling sound like the window was breaking. i put plastic on the window and took it to the dealer. they said they have never heard of any thing like that and it will be $54.00 to take off the door panel for diagnostics for investigatory issues , $476.05 later, the regulator assemble was broken and needed repair. i asked for the old part when i picked up the truck, they said the part has already been disposed of. part # 4l3z*1823201* regulator asy. *tr

Like many other people driving f150s i closed my door and hear a loud pop sound from my door. i first believed that the door had slammed on something, so i opened the door and looked, there was nothing. about 2 minutes of driving later my driver side window suddenly and quite forcefully fell inside the panel. after i got home i took the door apart and found a tangle of wire and window at the bottom. after removing all the parts in acordance with the chilton's manual, and reconstructing the electric window on the kitchen floor because it was 20*f outside i discovered that the actual defect came from the mounting bracket that supports the window and slides up and down on the rail was the reason for the defect. i then tried to find the part by google-ing f150 window repair glass mount and found that there was a whole list of other people with the same problem as me. i went to the dealer and of course the electric window kit it only sold motor and all for 199.99, while all that is defective is the clip which even as a dealer part would only be 15-20 dollars by my estimation. the car is only 4 years old with 37k miles. i'm a big ford fan but this is really unsat, especially with all the other people having the very same issue. *tr

The cable in the window regulator in my 2005 ford f-150 completely stripped out. the part is impossible to find, unless i want to pay $330 at the ford place. i have been unable to find the part anywhere. many people with 2004-2005 f-150s seem to be having the same problem. considering i can't fix my window since i can't find the part; i have plastic taped up over my window and have to open my door every time i need to see out that side of the truck. this is ridiculous. i strongly recommend that ford put a recall on this part. *tr

2005 ford f-150 super crew pickup window regulators break (quite commonly), causing the window to no longer have any support. the window then can fall abruptly at any time, including while driving the vehicle. when this happens, the driver tends to think that the vehicle has gotten hit by something large, and swerves to avoid it. this can result in driving off of the road or into oncoming traffic. ford denies that the window regulators are not fit for their intended purpose, and refuses to release a properly engineered part. a cursory examination of the regulator will show that it is not designed to handle the loads and stresses that exist in the window system. replacing the part with the current design only starts the clock over on when the window will fall again. after-market regulators are not available. please insist that ford recall these faulty window regulators and replace them with properly engineered units that will not fail in such an abrupt way. *tr

The driver side power window regulator has failed and the window will not roll up. it happened while i was out of town and it was raining. this is a huge safety risk. apparently, after doing very little research on the internet, there are a lot of folks having the same problems. not only did this leave my vehicle open to the elements, it also left it open to anyone who wanted to help themselves to the vehicle or it's contents. i am very concerned that this will happen again. *tr

Was sitting idle in a parking lot when suddenly i heard a loud pop. when i started to roll my window down on my 2005 ford f150 super cab, the window dropped down and sounded like broken glass. after removing the panel i saw the cable messed up. then after googling to find an answer, i discovered that this is the exact problem that dozens, perhaps hundreds of others are experiencing with the power window regulator. the plastic clip breaks and the cable gets messed up. ford is making a killing off owners by using cheap, breakable parts. this should be recalled! i have no money to replace this regulator right now, so i am at the mercy of the gods in hope that someone doesn't steal my truck, or it doesn't rain, since with this part broken the window will not stay up. please push this through for a recall! *tr

I have a 2005 f150 ford fx4 , and two front windows fell into the door within three months. i have been told this is very common problem for this truck, that the power window regulators are faulty. when these windows fall inside the door i am left scared and very unsafe. i have researched this problem and found complaints all over about this same problem. what does it take for someone to address this problem? *tr

In october of 2007 during normal operation of the vehicle the right hand passenger window suddenly fell into the door rendering the window inoperable. in december of 2007 the 2nd failure of a window regulator assembly occurred on the right hand rear passenger window while again operating the vehicle under normal driving conditions. the window, again, fell into the door and could not be retrieved. the 3rd failure of the window regulator assembly occurred during august of 2008. this time the driver's window fell into the door during normal operation of the vehicle and was unable to be retrieved. according to the dealer, the window regulator assembly was at fault in each instance. the first two incidents were covered under the factory warranty, the third incident occurred (37,618 miles) after expiration of the factory warranty. each time the vehicle was brought in for repairs, the service department indicated that the failure of the window regulator has been a frequent problem seen with this make and model. when this failure occurs, the vehicle is basically rendered inoperable due to inclement weather, security, etc. i am anticipating the failure of the remaining window (left hand passenger) to occur at any unknown moment. all assemblies were replaced with an improved version of the part, according to the dealer. no assemblies were allowed to be replaced prior to actual failure of the regulator unless i was willing to pay full price for replacement charges. i believe ford should recall all vehicles that have been manufactured with this defective regulator and replace it at no charge with the improved part. *tr

2005 ford f150 supercrew 4 door truck-failed power window regulator (passenger side door/third regulator failure on this truck, different window). driving down the road when i and my wife hear a loud bang. she is afraid as the noise was loud and for the moment we could not be sure that something had not been thrown or shot at my truck. as i tried to understand the problem, i remembered the other regulator failures and then noticed the passenger side window next to my wife falling into the door. this had happened before so i knew what to expect. the failure was once again a total surprise. the truck continues to be used only for light yard-related work and does not go off road. the windows are seldom operated as air-conditioning is typically running in the heat of florida. this was the third event for this vehicle. failure of window regulators and the window falling into the door presents an extreme potential safety hazard for occupants (children and animals) in the car, as well as loads being lost out the window. the torrential rains in northeast florida in the summer make these failures even more problematic. once again, the dealership service department rep indicated the regulator is a new part in the f150 and the problem continues to be seen on this vehicle. he encouraged us to report it to the company to alert them to the potential need for a recall. we did and ford indicated recalls were nhtsa

Normal use of my 2005 ford f-150 in the past two years has lead to a few item i believe can be a safety issue. the latest is the drivers seat breaking its lower frame and seat pad tray. ford has yet to fix this issue as they claim parts are not available at this time. the seat is rocking during normal driving and is a concern of mine if it should totally fail while the vehicle is in use leading to a crash. it is also at a slight tilt causing me to sit in a very uncomfortable position. it has been a month since i took the truck in to have it repaired, but the parts are still on order to fix it. this is a un-reasonable amount of time to have to wait. also 3 out of the five windows of my truck have broken, this results in the window regulator breaking causing the window to drop to the bottom of the door. this leaves me and my vehicle open to the weather and/or being unsecured if driving in a less than safe area. the windows have been fixed in the same day without having to wait for parts as the dealer has stated we keep the parts available as it is a known problem. but they can not fix the other two until they break as ford will not allow them to unless they break. as this is a known problem it seems to me the issue should be fixed before any other windows fail. *nm

I have powered windows on my truck. today while driving to work and getting on the highway going south on i-35 in okc, ok. i had the driver side window partially rolled down and once i was at highway speeds i decided to roll the window up, as i usually have always done before. after the window reached the closed position, i heard a loud pop as if a rock hit the window and immediately after that, the window fell down and slammed into the bottom well of the door panel. to my amazement and not understanding what just occurred, i tried to re-raise the window back up unsuccessfully. so far its sitting in the parking lot, taped up with plastic over it since its about to rain until i can get it taken care of. on another note the other rear back passengers windows squeak when they are raised or lowered. what next!! probably more of the same. sweet!! *tr
