Defect SummaryOn certain trucks, passenger cars and sport utility vehicles, the windshield wiper motor may have been produced without grease being applied to the output shaft gear.
Consequence SummaryAfter a period of continuous use on the high speed setting, lack of grease on the output shaft gear may cause the gear to distort or fracture during operation resulting in a loss of wiper function. inoperative wipers under inclement weather conditions could cause a crash due to impaired visibility.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect the wiper motor for the presence of grease and grease the wiper motor gears if necessary. the recall began on november 22, 2005. owners may contact ford at 1-800-392-3673 or lincoln/mercury at 1-800-521-4140.

Both driver and passenger side review mirrors are not stationary. they are loose and pivot when closing a door. driver's side also vibrates while driving making it difficult to see out of. this has been reported to ford dealership where they stated it is just a poor design with a 'break-away feature' that appears to have been 'overworn' by previous owner, possibly due to use of thinner gaskets in mirror assembly. when asked about longevity and and anticipated lifespan of mirrors prior to failure due to wear, they stated it was not a wear-part, however, they also denied it being defective and quoted me $1200 for parts and labor to replace. warranty would not cover since the defect was mechanical and not electrical. the dealership also stated the mirrors that would be installed would be exactly the same and there was no guarantee this would not happen again. i was unable to get a corrective action or reasoning why my particular mirrors are not satisfactory, but i have heard this is not a new problem for this vehicle. looking at both of my mirrors, it is obvious they should have some sort of locking mechanism (snap-in-place design) like most vehicles. there has not been any accident involved with this safety issue. this is to document a known problem for awareness purposes and to potentially receive a corrective action for my faulty mirrors. this issue has been on-going, and an arbitrary incident date has been assigned.

 1. my truck was sitting in the driveway not being driven or anything and the right rear passenger window fell into the door. 2. if the weather had not been so nice my truck would be full of water or snow. 3. i purchased the extended warranty so it is getting replaced, but i have read about this failure and am planning on owning this truck for long after the warranty is over with. it sounds like even if the part is fixed that it will fail again and will continue to fail until the part is replaced with a stronger more suitable part that will stand up to the forces involved for the life of the vehicle instead of just about 40k miles and until it is out of warranty. this part is close to 400 bucks installed and the truck has 4 windows. that is a potential of 1600 bucks every 40k miles. i would appreciate a recall or a service bulletin to make sure that all of us f150 owners are protected against all this excess cost. *tr

The truck was delivered on 8/12 in late evening when it was cool, on the next day it was discovered that the air conditioning did not cool properly. it showed no colder than 60 degrees on max air in the left middle vent with all others closed and with 95 degrees outside temperature. when returned to the dealer on the next morning, the service order showed no trouble found. they do however show that refrigerant(r134) was added which is odd as there was no trouble found. later it was admitted to me that there is a problem with the air conditioning in these trucks, particularly the recirculation switch on the air control panel in the truck which does not stay engaged. it seems that you must re engage the switch each time the truck is started although this does not always work. this is dangerous if you are unfamiliar with the truck, as outside air is being brought in at all times thus keeping the defrost from working properly as well. foul air or road fumes coming into the truck to an un suspecting driver. i was told that ford is aware that it is a problem, but has to this date offered no solution. i believe based on the response from ford, that this has been a problem they are aware of on 2006 trucks and the public is un aware. *nm

The driver's side window regulator on my 2006 ford f150 has broken three times, i was able to get two replaced under warranty, but the third time happened this last month, i am replacing it today. i believe from my experience, and from thousands of forum entries citing the same thing, that ford should recall this part. this part is going to cost me approximately $400.00 to repair. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 ford f150. the contact stated that all four window regulators failed and as a result, she was unable to open or close the window. after several attempts, the window would open however, it would fail to close. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where all four window switches were replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the current mileage was 57,900 and the approximate failure mileage was 53,000.

Failure of the drivers side power window switch. over a matter of months, the operation of the switch deteriorated. initially, when the drivers door window switch was pressed to close, the window would hesitate. this hesitation became worse until the window would not close without repeated attempts to close the window. at times, the window had to remain open overnight and at some point in time, the close button would work again. there was no clear indicator to a condition that would initiate this problem, nor was there any procedure to return the switch to operation (aside from repeated attempts to close the window. the matter was brought top the attention of ford during the full warranty period and the drivers door window switch assembly replaced. this repair appears to have resolved the problem (it has not occurred since). this incident is being reported after learning of numerous others who have experienced this failure. these conversations were with others of f-150 and other ford vehicles of the 2005-2006 era. a high percentage have experienced this problem. if the failure occurred under the 3yr/36,000 mile warranty, switches were normally replaced with no cost to the vehicle owner. however, m large portion of people have experienced this condition shortly beyond the warranty period and have had to live with the defective switch or pay for replacement. the large number of people who have experienced this failure is indicative of a defect in the switch assembly. *tr

My 2006 ford f-150 super cab pickup, 2x4, v-8 engine, has a major problem with the outside mirrors falling towards the ground causing me not to be able to pick up moving traffic while driving down the highway...i have taken the truck to three different ford dealerships and they refuse to give me a trade-in on a truck with power mirrors...i have had (3) new sets of mirrors installed on this truck already since i purchased the truck in january 2006....i have had a restriction put on my drivers license stating that i must have a right hand mirror on all vehicles i drive due to having amblyopia in my right eye....can't see anything when my mirrors point down towards the ground...shouldn't' have to take a beating on the trade-in since i bought the truck in good faith believing that ford would stand behind its warranty...they are not reimbursing me for the time or gas to take the truck in for repairs and i believe three sets of mirrors are enough....i want this to be documented in case that i have a minor or major accident that is involving a life because i couldn't see out of my mirror while changing a lane..... *nm

Dt*: the contact stated the side view mirror glass on both mirrors did not stay stationary while driving over rough roads at any speed. the mirrors pointed downwards, obscuring the view of the driver. the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, where the mirrors were replaced. the problems persisted, so the vehicle was taken to a second service dealer, who informed the contact that a second replacement would do no good. the manufacturer was notified. updated 10/31/2006 - the manufacturer refused any assistance. *nm

New 2006 ford f150 extended cab, less than 2500 miles, driving in moderate to heavy rain when windshield wipers completely failed. fortunately the driver, my son, was able to immediately cross 3 lanes of traffic and pull off the road without accident or injury. this is a serious defect / failure that could have resulted in severe injury or death. wiper motor was replaced at a ford dealership the next day.
