Consequence SummaryIf left uncorrected, a fuel leak could eventually develop. a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the fuel tank free of charge. the recall began on june 25, 2007. owners may contact ford at 1-866-436-7332.

Fuel pump control module failure resulting in engine stalling causing loss of power and control to steering and braking functions at high speed and in heavy traffic. the fuel pump control module on the truck failed at intermittent and erratic intervals, causing immediate shut off of fuel to the engine. control functions, particularly power steering were compromised and accidents were barely avoided. the engine would eventually restart- up to the point that the module failed completely. the first fuel pump control module was replaced around 14000 miles in 2010. the second was just replaced at 24446 miles. the cost to replace the fuel pump control module is approximately $500.

While driving truck it shut off suddenly without and warning, driver fuel pump control module. this unit is located in an area that is highly corrosive and has no protection against the elements. when this part failed i was driving in a parking lot at a low speed however i was told it can happen any time at all. once this part goes the vehicle is totally inop. i had to have the truck towed in to the dealer and the part replaced at a cost of $356.00 labor $125.00 parts. i was also told i was lucky it took this long and had better plan on doing it again in the near future as it is a common issue with all ford trucks. ford redesigned the part but the service manager told me it will happen again as it is only nickel coated and offers no protection from the elements.

Bought the truck new. has 4 winters on it. cost me $421.12 to fix at a ford dealer, plus another $54.00 to have towed to dealer. bad placement or design of placement. 118,000 miles i expect to start replacing parts, but not this. why should people who live in cold climates be penalized.

Tl. the contact owns a 2007 ford f-150. the contact stated while the engine was running the contact smelled fuel inside the vehicle. the contact got out and looked underneath the vehicle and notice a fuel leak. the contact then called a towing service and the towing company called the fire department. the fire department approved of the vehicle being towed to a local garage. the mechanic notice two holes in the fuel line. the local mechanic replaced the fuel line. after the repairs the contact has not had a problem. the contact stated the fuel line should be covered or made with sheet metal because a animal was able to bite the fuel line causing a leak. the failure mileage was 18,200. jo

This event has occured twice in the last 3 months. the vehicle is a 2007 ford f150 stx model with the 4.6l v8. in the last 3 months twice the #3 cylinder has blown a coil pack. the first time all i had to do was replace the coil pack. this most recent time it actually blew the spark plug out of the cylinder head. i again had to replace the coil pack but this time i had to buy a kit to repair the stripped head. the vehicle shut off and would not restart. i was able to get the vehicle to the side of the highway with out incident. i was driving on a main high way but luckily i was in the far right hand lane. had i not been i dont know if i would have been able to guide the vehicle to saftey as it had no power.

I have a 2007 ford f150 it has 14,454 miles. i purchased it brand new. my first experience of having the truck accelerate unexpectedly was about a year ago. both myself and my sister was in the truck at the time. i started the engine and had my foot on the brake and shifted it in to drive when it accelerated forward for no reason. i did not think much about it until it happened again about 3 months ago. i was parked on the side of my house and started to make a u-turn when the truck again acelerated with my foot on the brake and almost crashing into my neighbors garage. since we don't drive the truck very often i did not take it in to the dealer to have it checked. on april 12th of 2009 my son was pulling into a parking space and decide he was not straight, so he backed up and when he put the vehicle into drive with his foot on the brake it accelerated forward into a back of a building. we had 2 witness, saying that his foot was on the brake at the time of the accident. no one was hurt, only damage to the building and the truck. i have now notified the repair shop and going to file a complaint with ford. it appears this has happen many times with the same vehicle as well as other vehicles. *tr
