2006 ford f250 superduty crew cab 4x4 with factory 20x8 alloy wheels. rt front wheel cracked with no impact. crack is aprox 10 long and runs just below the bead for about 10 did not loose air. iwas turning rt and fely a strange jolt kind of like the tire rolling off a small rock. only felt it once. continued driving to work. later inspected the wheel and found the crack. dealer says there is no racalls on these wheels. called ford customer relations to be told they could not help. there are a number of postings on similar wheel cracks on internet forums. it appears to be an ongoing problem on these trucks in the 85000 mile range. ## vin failed ##

Sept.2010,my 2006 sd f-250ford tire,withoem17alloy 8hole wheel, exploded violently in my driveway.discovered inside of rim had cracked and peeled along tire bead allowing tire to blow.rim and tire had to be replaced, it even blew off the rubber stop block on the frame for axle to hit. used truck so assumed it was previously damaged.close inspection showed other wheels were ok. june 2011, shimmy in front end, discovered other front wheel cracked in the same way and close to failure. local ford dealer says no recalls. e-mail to ford canada got no response. i have pictures of both wheels. this is my follow up. please check your wheels. for their safety, have your tire dealer inspect wheels when replacing tires.

My f-250 super duty, has a severe front end shimmy at highway speed. my wife and i could have died in one instance,we had to move across two lanes to the shoulder as the truck bounced uncontrollably. i thought the tie rods were going to snap . this did not happen just once, but numerous times. every time i approach a bridge deck, bump or pot hole i'm afraid the tuck may have a uncontrollable shimmy and losing control! you never know if the truck will have a slight,or severe shimmy, sometimes there is no shimmy at all. this is a problem that has to be rectified!!! just so you are made aware my tires are fine as is my speed. *tr

Wheel vibration, steering wheel oscillation after going over rough or uneven surface, causing lack of control and sometimes lane shift, this happens around 50/55 mph and higher and mainly in a slight left hand curve, does not happen all the time. truck has been seen at dealer from almost new, tried balancing tires quite a few times, change rim, forced balance tires, put steering damper on truck. damper helped but did not cure the problem, have come close 4 times to losing control of veh and wrecking. *tr
