Noticed a coolant leak coming off the driver side frame rail under the hood. took it in to the ford dealership and they had to replace the radiator. $1,400 later they said if i had a hyper extended thermostat it would be free as that is what ford believes is causing the problem. well obviously its not what is causing the problem since there are hundreds of people with the same problem.

I came home from work, shut my vehicle off, climbed out and noticed that something was dripping from the front end. got under and found that the radiator was leaking and at a pretty good rate. i called the dealership to ask details about it and agreed to drop it off the next day. i had to reference them to a tsb 09-23-1 concerning the radiator leak due to a hyper extended thermostat. a couple of days later i get a call and was told that the thermostat seems to be fine and that i would have to bear the cost of the radiator replacement at $1400. ford replaced these radiators in job 1 trucks if they were leaking at the time the venturi tee was being installed in the cooling system. i had the recall done but it wasn't leaking at the time. i have 37k miles on it. i've never over heated it, over sped it and i take care of my vehicle. the ford dealership is telling me that if they replaced the parts, sent them to ford and ford found they were still good, i would then get billed back later. as of right now, i have not had them continue with the work on the truck. the main reason is because that is a costly repair and i feel that ford should cover this knowing it's a problem. there was a recall as i stated earlier, and at least 2 tsb's stating that they know it's a problem. it's disappointing that ford is sticking it to people like me for a defective part. it's cracked and no one can tell me how it cracked. when asked, the service manager stated, that's the million dollar question. what makes this even worse, i'm active duty military and am preparing for a duty station move in august. i bought the vehicle to tow my rv and family of 5, not for it to break and no apparent reason for it besides the defective part that ford knows about.

2008 ford f250 diesel 6.4l radiator leaks. ford blames this on t-stats and venturi tee's but it is clearly a manufacturing defect. there are so many people that have had this problem. ford continues to bury their head in the sand. either nhtsa needs to get involved or a class action lawsuit should bring this to the forefront.

2008 ford f-250. radiator leaking. dealer states to ford customer service that they found a leak in april of 2010. they never informed me of it however. in april the vehicle was still under the 36,000 mi. warranty. i first noticed the leak around the last of november 2010 and by then the vehicle was at 46,000 mi. and out of warranty. my dealer tells me they and ford are aware that there is a problem with these radiators but ford has yet to issue a recall. dealer wont incur any of the cost for repairs and ford wont offer any assistance either.

Re-occuring problem with my 2008 ford f-250. the truck apon acceleration surges at 2800-3000 rpm's and blows white smoke out of the exhaust pipe. this only happens during high humid, or rainy days, or while the truck is operating in a steady state of dirving for several hours. if you pull off the freeway, and then try to accelerate on the entrance ramp the truck stumbles and looses acceleration. i have had the truck in the dealer several times to try to find the problem, but they were not sucessful. there are no codes being displayed in the computer. this is going to cause somebody to get run over trying to enter the freeways. ford is not trying to solve the probles eighter.

On 8/10/2010, after driving my 2008 f-250 on interstate 5 for about 6 hours continuously at approx. 70mph in cruise control mode, i overrode cruise control to accelerate and pass a vehicle. as i returned to the right side driving lane, the vehicle failed to reduce speed and continued to accelerate in an uncontrolled fashion. with heavy braking i was able control the vehicle and bring it to a stop on the highway shoulder where i shifted it into neutral and cut the ignition off. a restart of the vehicle resulted in an immediate run-up in rpm which could only be controlled by shutting down the engine. no engine or other warning lights were dispayed. by opening the hood and manually resetting the air filter contamination sensor on the air intake duct, it was possible to restart the engine and have it operate normally. i did not again use cruise control. this is a repeat of the condition previously reported in id# 10279704. the common elements of all three instances of occurence are that the engine has been operated at 65-70 mph for approx. six hours, cruise control is engaged, and the engine is either in or has just completed an exhaust regen cycle . ford appears to be unable or unwilling to identify or address this situation, but it continues to be a severe safety hazard.

I have a 2008 f-250 s/d manufactured 02/08 at the kentucky plant. this vehicle was purchased new in april 2009 and now has just under 8000 miles on the odometer. i have twice experienced uncontrolled involuntary acceleration with this vehicle. the common elements of this have been that it occurred after a period of extended driving at about 70 mph, using cruise control, just after an exhaust cleaning cycle, and when i overrode the cruise control to accelerate to pass a vehicle in front of me. when pulling back in to the traffic lane, the vehicle continues to accelerate and can be controlled only by maintaining heavy pressure on the brakes until a safe location can be found to pull off the road and cut off the ignition. a restart in neutral will result in an immediate run-up in rpm which requires a shut down of the ignition. there are no check engine or service engine lights displayed, and according to ford dealerships, no codes registered in the pcm. in both cases i have been able to correct the problem and continue to drive the vehicle (without use of cruise control) by pressing a reset button located on the top of a white sensor located in the air intake duct on the right side of the engine compartment. ford says they are unable to duplicate the problem and consequently cannot make a fix. i am most concerned because this is a significant safety issue. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 ford f-250 sd diesel. the contact stated that there is a three second lapse to get past the throttle before the engine revs. while the engine is running, it does not gain speed like other vehicles do within two seconds. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for routine maintenance, but they could not find any failures. the contact stated that the failure could be due to the new computer chip that was replaced, but the mechanic stated that it was working correctly and that there was no issue with the engine. the failure mileage was 13,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 ford f-250 sd. the contact experienced failure with the vehicle on the date it was purchased. he drove approximately three blocks after leaving the dealer and applied the brakes at a stop sign. the vehicle did not stop. he looked down and noticed that the rpm' s had increased to 4,000. he shut off the vehicle and restarted it, but the engine was still racing. he shut the vehicle back off and then on again, and the vehicle was fine. he drove back to the dealer and they replaced the accelerator pedal with a new one from another vehicle. the failure recurred the very next day and the dealer was notified again on may 30, 2008. the contact was advised to call the manufacturer, who stated that they would have to conduct an investigation and get back to him with the results. the speed was unknown. the failure and current mileages were 6.

I have had many engine problems with my 6.4 diesel from loss of engine power , to lack of power , white /grayish smoke, hesitation , engine almost dying to acceleration and almost causing an accident, i even had an occasional engine light come on, gurgling sounds , whooping sounds and grinding ,metallic sounds coming from my engine. i was told by multiple dealerships that if there is no engine light there is no code if there is no code there is no problem. i was told that my truck was probably going through it's regen process and that the truck will perform poorly when this happens. i now have 9000 miles on my truck this started around 1000 miles and i'm still having issues. i have contacted a lawyer and i'm very disappointed with my vehicle and the dealerships , along with ford motor company who now know i have this problem. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 ford f-250 sd. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled and restarted on its own. the failure occurred during acceleration. when the failure occurred, the speed did not decrease. there were no warning indicator lights present. the dealer could not determine the cause of the failure; however, they changed the fuel injectors. the failure mileage was 200 and current mileage was 5,000.

Ever since i purchased a 2008 ford f-250 super duty pick up truck with the 6.4 diesel engine it has had a problem with an intermittent problem with the engine. for no reason sometimes when you accelerate the engine will stumble and a cloud of white smoke pours out of the exhaust pipe. the smoke is so severe it will blind anyone behind the truck. this has happened several times. i have had several cases when trying to merge into highway traffic the engine will stumble and loose all available power. this could be a drastic problem if this is not corrected by ford motor company. i have had the truck to the dealer several time and they say it is normal for the truck to do this because it is part of the emissions. if this is the case then they are allowing a dangerous situation to take place. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford f-250 sd. while driving approximately 50 mph, the turbo engine stalled with an illumination of a warning indicator. the vehicle began to perform roughly with smoke and flames emitting from the exhaust. when the engine was turned off the flames were no longer visible. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer who stated the turbo charger would need to be replaced and including other defective parts. the failure was related to the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 07v139000 (power train: automatic transmission: control module (tcm, pcm)). the contact experienced the identical defect as stated in the recall. the manufacturer was notified and they informed the contact that the vin was not included in the recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Driving around and diesel fuel smell came into the cab of the truck and smoke from engine compartment. this truck has a 6.4l job 1 diesel. we had the truck towed to the ford dealership because driving it makes me sick to my stomach and light headed. ford tells us it will happen every 100-600 miles and last 10-40 minutes each time during regeneration. ford says this is a 'normal operation characteristic of the vehicle'. the dealership referenced tsb 09-16-9 and took the time to highlight certain areas. #1 - i was not in cold ambient temperature at the time the smoke was coming from the engine compartment and #2 - this is not a brand new truck although we do have low mileage. how can this be considered normal if it had never happened before and now makes me sick when i drive the truck? the smell is still faintly in the headliner of the truck. what is in this stuff that made me light headed and sick to my stomach?*cw

Sudden intense intense smoke from tailpipe at time of exhaust cleaning from my 2008 ford f250 diesel pickup (ford considers normal operation of system) while entering a toll plaza created a sudden and unsafe condition for other drivers behind me. the smoke was so heavy i could not see vehicle behind while passing through a toll plaza. the lane i was in utilizes a transponder to collect toll while traffic in that lane normally does not stop. if a vehicle had been stopped the drivers behind me would not have been able to react in time. it was also possible that their visibility of the structures of the toll plaza itself were sufficiently diminished that a collision with the structure was possible. i pass through three toll plazas each way, to and from work, 5 days a week. *tr

Engine rev's up on it's own. i discussed this with a dealer and was told this will happen when the catalytic converter cleans it's self. the first time i was in a parking lot and not in any danger, the second, third and fourth i was driving in traffic but i had control of the situation but the last time i was in my garage and almost drove into my house wall this is very dangerous! i think this needs to be corrected. i still have not gotten any reply over the loss of steering i reported about 2 months ago on this same vehicle, this is also a dangerous problem! *tr
