2005 f250 sd diesel 6.0 pick up _ chronic issues with front end shimmy, near uncontrollable at times. dlr says buy new steering stabilizer, air pressure in tires, etc. tsb is in place, but dlr states nothing wrong? 2 turbochargers, ungodly amount of egr replacement, oil pump issues, oil leaks. bad engine situation, 5 major warranty claims on issues. vehicle only has 77,000 miles in non-commercial use. stranded owner numerous times, but ford says nothing is wrong. solution from ford - we will give you a 200,000 mile 7 year warranty at n/c. problem is, most issues relate to california emission failure by ford under certification on emissions, and following recall on computer reset. truck no longer gets 570 foot lbs of torque as advertised, and 2 separate dealers were only able to obtain 510 ft pound of torque, because of recall on emissions violations. request full investigation of emissions violations, mandated by state of california. the consume purchased vehicle base on advertised claims of power, but submitted test data to state of california that failed under cal air res board follow up test. consumers did not get what they paid for. *tr

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 ford f250 super duty. while driving at approximately 15 mph someone located outside of the vehicle informed the contact there were flames underneath the vehicle. the contact stopped the vehicle and was able to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. the fire department did not report to the scene. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the technicians stated the fire began due to transmission fluid leaking onto the engine manifold. the technicians stated the wiring harness and transmission needed to be replaced. the wiring harness was replaced. the transmission was not replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000. ds

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f250 super duty. the contact stated that his transmission was cracked. while driving 60 mph over a bump, the steering wheel moved from the front to the back as well as to the left and right excessively. the driver is forced to decelerate to 30 mph to control the vehicle. the dealer rotated the tires and adjusted the inflation pressure to correct the malfunction. the contact has to replace the transmission himself since the manufacturer will not pay the repair cost. the failure mileage was 29,000.

Cracked transmission case, took into ford dealer for repair, truck is under extended service agreement from dealer we bought it from, with a $100 deductible. extended service co would send out inspector, he inspected it and said ok to fix, the next day he said we would have to pay $600. we finely paid $371.36. he said the dealer we bought the truck from would not honor the $100 deductible. *tr

While towing our horse trailer the engine stopped running. it was towed to dealer and the engine problem was repaired under ford warranty. they told me there was a problem with the transmission. the mechanic said this is a common failure and i should write in. as i understand it, there is a snap ring located in the transmission, for some unknown reason, this snap ring pops off , is then sucked between the top of the transmission case and a gear, which causes the transmission case to crack. the mechanic said the case is cracked on the top. he has seen many of these failures. because i didn't buy the extended warranty, this repair will cost approx $4,500.00. this truck has low mileage (41900 mi). i have been told this has been a common problem of ford trucks from 2002 - 2005. *tr

I could have been killed. in sept. 2005 i leased a f250 and since it has given me nothing but trouble. exhaust problems (3 times for that) injector failed, many little bugs that the dealer cant fix. on 6-24-06 on i-94 doing a 65-68 mph, the engine hesitates for a second then suddenly the wheels locked up and i lost control, skidding almost hitting 3 other cars and the wall on the shoulder. finally after steering to the shoulder - stopped and basically had a panic attack, saw my life flash before my eyes. sat for a couple minutes then got out to look at the wheels and under the truck for any clues as to what had just happened. i start up and stroll along the shoulder to the nearest exit the tow / haul light is flashing on and off. drive about 30 mph on a city road with my flashers on.. not but a 1/8 of a mile it locks up again and then frees up, and rolls. i am now freaking out. and now the engine light is on . called ford roadside i am a wreck! i'll never put my 4 month daughter in it. first diagnosis 3 days later after the lock up happened to the mechanic test driving the truck they guess the range sensor in the transmission and two days later called to tell me it was ready. 1 hour later the service tech called ,said we need to keep it longer 2 wks later they diagnose that a main wiring harness was leaning against the exhaust and burned up shorting the computer & told the trans to shift. i told them i do not want the truck. i don't feel safe and won't risk my life or my family. ford legal finally contacted the dealership after many contacts to them and upon their decision 3 wks after they towed it i must accept this vehicle, because it is supposedly fixed. i feel that ford is not taking this case seriously, and i wont feel safe driving this truck again. my service director among many of the service agents at the dealership as well as the ford factory rep. say that they would not feel safe driving in this truck if it were their truck, and would not drive it. *jb

Dt: the contact stated there was severe vibration when using the cruise control. he took the vehicle to the dealer, they reprogrammed a chip, and put three shims in driveshaft. also, there was severe vibration in the acceleration of the vehicle. there has been vibration with the vehicle since purchasing it. the vehicle has been to the dealer many times, but they stated it was normal. the vehicle vibration is more severe in lower gears than at higher gears. the vehicle did this from the point of acceleration, there was no for warning. *ak
