Driving over a mountain pass in the snow, coming downhill at approximately 5% grade when the throttle became non-responsive. very soon after the truck died completely-no power steering and no power brakes in snowy conditions. i managed to get the truck to the side of the road but wasn't able to get more than 6 off the fog line due to the snow. i was very lucky that an accident did not occur because roadway conditions were not good and the situation could have had drastic consequences. i was also very lucky that my wife was following close behind me and we were able to 1) get cell phone service on the pass and 2) wait for the tow truck in the other vehicle. we ended up waiting on the side of the road for 2 hrs in the dark waiting for a tow truck with my wife and three daughters and no food. finally got the truck towed to the dealership on a sunday and waited for them to open today. they informed me that the ficm needed to be replaced but my truck was not covered under the recall (05v270000 electrical system wiring) even though the description matches what happened to me exactly! i have the wrong vin # so i am not covered even though the problem is exactly the same! this is a serious safety issue! losing power at 60 mph in a crew cab long box diesel pickup is not for the faint of heart! not to mention that some of our personal property was damaged because we could not get all of it into our explorer. ford needs to come to the plate before someone is seriously injured or killed!

The past three years we have had our ford 350 superduty truck in the shop due to the tow haul light would come on. last year it had stalled on me while crossing intersection at a four way stop. it did not happen until approx. three weeks ago, the truck has stalled several times while driving without warning. it took the local dealer a week to find out that it was the fuel injection control module wire harness. if there was a recall on the 2003-2004 why is ford not fixing our 2005 that is also stalling while driving it. and they could not really find the problem why the tow haul light was coming on often. ford company told the local ford service that they will not replace the parts free and the local ford service told us that they would cut $400 off of $1700.

I was driving and the 2005 f350 shut off and the brakes and steering became hard, which made it difficult to get out of the way; while on the freeway going at 85 mph. luckily i was passing a ford dealer and took the truck in. this problem started about 2 months ago and continued off and on.

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f-350 superduty. the contact stated that the tow command works intermittently and provides false data. the failure causes the trailer brakes to engage when they should not. the warning message indicated that the trailer was disconnected. the ford dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. the current mileage is 30,000 and failure mileage was 25,000.

I have an f-350 super duty diesel. the truck was parked in the driveway @ 7:30 pm. around 12:15 am, my wife heard a loud popping noise and what sounded like a banging type crash. she thought a car had crashed out in front of the house, so she looked out the window and saw the truck with flames coming out from under the hood. we called the fire dept. and sprayed water on our eaves until they arrived. i will need to replace the eaves above the garage, garage doors, several items in the garage that melted or burned as well as work tools and all personal items from the truck. i will also have to re-paint my house due to the fire and smoke from the truck going across the front of my house above the garage. the fire investigator reports that the fire started under the hood. i contacted the ford dealer where i have purchased 5 trucks in the past year! when asked about recalls or if this was covered under warranty due to the year of the truck and where the fire started, they responded that there is no recall, and they would not cover anything under warranty???? this is actually the second ford truck in about six months that i have had catch fire????? the first was an f-350 that i used as one of my work trucks. that fire actually stared while the truck was being driven back to my shop from a job. the fire dept. stated the fire had also started under the hood in the engine compartment. i had no idea that there were any issues with ford trucks and fires. had i known, i would have never turned the first truck into my insurance carrier without raising questions regarding possible faulty parts as a cause of damage. *nm

Dt: the contact states the brakes will not stop the vehicle when hauling a trailer. he took the vehicle to ford dealership to have the brakes inspected. there was not enough voltage going to the brakes to make the vehicle stop. the vehicle needed a new brain box with eight volts instead of three and one half volts. the repairs will be made at the contact's expense. the manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. *ak

I have a 2005 ford f-350 with approximately 50,000 miles on it. over the past 4 months my truck has been not starting after it has been driven and occasionally stalling while being driven. i have had the cam sensor, crank sensor, & fuel sending unit all replaced to no avail. i brought it to the ford dealer and they were unable to reproduce the not starting, told me to change all filters to ford brand and change the oil. after spending $350 on just filters the truck is still broken, i can not drive it. there is a campaign for this problem #05v270000, unfortunately ford says they can not fix my vehicle because my vin# was not included. i had a friend look at my truck who has a computer to look up the codes, while the truck is plugged in. he reproduced the not starting while the computer was plugged in and the code came up for the ficm which is what the recall from nhtsa is for. i went to the dealer and was told basically to bad. the truck will not start after being driven on a daily basis. because of the safety concerns with the truck leaving me stranded or even worse stalling while i drive it and causing an accident, i do not drive the truck. ford should be responsible for fixing these problems. *tr

July 1, 2006 at approximately 10:30 am, i was traveling on i-81 at 65 mph towing a 9,000 lb. trailer and the truck stalled without warning. no check engine light and no hesitation. it simply died. without power brakes or steering, the truck was completely uncontrollable. luckily, we were on a section of highway with wide shoulders and light traffic. the truck died so suddenly that i couldn't even pull to the shoulder. the truck came to a complete stop in the left lane and would not restart. drivers behind me swerved to the should to avoid a collision. the dealer did not find a problem and did nothing to prevent this situation from occurring again. after the truck sat at the dealer for 2 days (over the weekend), it started for the technician on the following monday. the dealer informed me that nhtsa #05v270000 does not apply to my truck, although this campaign number describes the exact situation that occurred with my truck. the truck and trailer combined weigh approximately 19,000 lbs. 19,000 lbs traveling at 65 mph and suddenly loosing brakes and steering is a death waiting to happen. please help before an innocent motorist(s) get killed by this truck. *jb
