This is the third blowout of this tire type in just over 12,000 miles. first two were reported on one dot form. this is 3 out of 6 tires to blow in 12,000 miles (just statistics?). all tires have now been replaced by michelins. want to make a bet no blowouts in next 12,000 miles. my wife did not want to go on last trip, after two previous blowouts till tires were replaced. i talked her into it because temp was only 85 degrees and i said i would not exceed 55 mph. tire still blew after 90 minutes of driving. tire looks identical in failure to previous failures. dearlier that replaced remaining firestone tires said one more was only a matter of hours before letting go also.( dot number: vd1l1xd247 tire size: lt22575r16 )

TIRES - SIDEWALL
09/01/1997
I am concerned because i have firestone tires that are dry rotting along the sidewall in a circular pattern and are starting to blemish in the same spot. i only have 38,000 miles on my vehicle and feel that this should not be happening this soon. when we were driving down the interstate a while back and stopped at a rest area approx. 4 hours into our trip our tires were very sticky and had little balls of rubber that were stuck to the tire. i have 2 children and feel that their safety as well as the safety of my husband and myself are in jeopardy. i would like any information you have sent to me regarding this siutation. thank you . sincerely, denise keen( dot number: tire size: lt23585r16 )

Tl*the contact owns a 1997 ford f super duty. the vehicle has firestone steeltex radial tires. while driving 50 mph, the contact heard a loud pounding noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. he noticed the tread had separated on the rear passenger side tire. a tire shop inspected the tire and stated that they were unable to determine the reason for the failure. approximately one week later, while driving 60 mph, the vehicle began vibrating. the contact noticed the tread on the rear driver side tire had separated. the tire has not been inspected. the current mileage is 38,000 and failure mileage was 37,000.

I took the motorhome in for routine check at the ford dealer in 12/99. they noted a problem with a tire and sent me to the firestone dealer in town. replaced the tire. drove the motoron a 1,000 mile trip in early april and another 500 miles at the end of the month. in june took the motorhome to oregon for our daughter'wedding. one the way home, 6/18, had a blow-out on hwy. 395 in southeastern oregon. when we got to reno, nv. took the motorhome to the firestone dealer and had that tire replaced and all of the others inspected. replaced another tire at that time. when we left reno we got 450 miles, almost home, and we had another blow-out on i15 is extremely crowded sunday afternoon traffic. it is amazing someone wasn't hit with flying rubber and debris. we took the motorhome in to our local dealer again and have now replaced all of the original tires. now we are worried that the replacements may also be defective. tire and( dot number: vd1lxa tire size: lt22575r16 )
