The vehicle started to go slower and slower and then once stopped and pulled over white smoke came out of tail pipe. the truck was towed to a ford dealer and they knew right off that it was the egr cooler that failed and said it is a know defect in this motor and truck. the egr cooler in turn coked the center of the turbo and the head gaskets failed. i found out from the dealer that this is a know defect in this motor but ford would not back it up since it is out of warranty. *tr

I just recently purchased my first 2005 ford f-250 in august of 2012. this is the first vehicle that i purchased that was a ford product. on august 13, 2012 i was driving my truck doing approximately 35 mph when i noticed that i started to lose power on the accelerator and my vehicle just shutt off all of a sudden. the vehicle left me stranded and would not restart. i had to wait about thirty minutes before the vehicle would start again. i also smelled a strong odor of exhaust in the cabin of my truck. i then went to a local muffler shop and had them check my exhaust system. i was told that the truck had no exhaust leaks. i then started to research the symptoms of my truck online and found out that there were numerous complaints about the same issues that i was having on my truck. since then it has happened to me on several more occasions making it very unsafe to drive my vehicle. my local mechanic has been unable to find anything wrong with the truck. my research has indicated that this is a manufacture problem created by ford motor company and they will fix the problem under warranty. however due to the un-safeness of this problem ford motor company should do a recall on this model and correct the defect at no cost to the consumer. i will be making arrangements to contact my local ford dealership and have them diagnose what is wrong with my vehicle. i made this complaint because of all the other complaints made with the same problem that needs to be addressed by ford motor company. *tr

I had a hazardous mechanical failure with my 2005 f250 super duty diesel 5/20/11. i and my wife were traveling and pulling our 32 foot 5th wheel. we were 6 miles east of panaca, nevada when the engine stopped. it lost all power. luckily the road was straight, with a slight up grade, with a large turnout just ahead on the left, with no traffic. i was gripped by how fortunate we were the give the 500 plus miles we had traveled that day and the many mountain passes we had gone over and down and the countless curves and roads with no shoulders where if the mechanical failure had happened on one of these segments our situation could easily have been perilous with a fatality a real possibility. the truck was towed to parkway autoplex in cedar city, utah. i arrived about midnight. my wife was 80 miles away with no means of communication, along the side of the road spending the night in the 5th wheel. i slept in the truck. around 8 am i approached the service area. i noticed someone inside. the individual was christopher haycock a senior master technician. as i explained my situation in more detail and that my wife was stranded 80 miles away on a rural nevada highway and we had no way to communicate, chris gradually became willing to try to determine the nature of the mechanical failure. when he performed his computer analysis, it supported his suspicion that it was probably a failed high pressure oil coupler. while chris was performing the repair he observed the he had done this several times. he has been expecting to see a recall for this this problem since the two part oil coupler has had so many problems and the replacement part is now a one piece part. ford motor company should acknowledge this design defect and reimburse me for the cost of this repair.
