Tl*the contact owns a 1992 ford f150. while towing a trailer at approximately 25 mph, the vehicle lost power as if it were in neutral. the transmission failure occurred without warning. over the span of two years, the failure has occurred in the same manner and the vehicles had to be replaced. the dealer would not state exactly what caused the failure, but postulated that whatever was causing metal to be in the transmission pan was the cause. the manufacturer would not provide any assistance because they stated that the failure was due to abuse by the contact. the failure mileage was 75,000 and current mileage was 228,000. updated 4/23/08 *cn the transmission failed 4 times.

Engine dies at speeds of under 10miles per hour. have just replaced the alternator in the last 5 days and now i'm having all of this trouble. is it true that there is a recall on this model truck because of the pressure regulator ? the transmission slams into gear rather than smoothly shifting, also acts like it is trying to get into two or more gears at the same time. if you can help please do so. thanks.*ak

The parking brake equlizer is a c channel that connects the cable from the pedal assembly to the two cables going to the rear wheels. i have had two equlizers fail. the first one at38000 miles. the second at 125000 miles or about 80000 miles later. in both cases the equlizer broke where the pedal assembly attaches to the equlizer. the truck was parked with the parking brake applied and the transmission in reverse. the truck has a standard transmission. the next morning i found the parking brake pedal wouldn't move when released. i looked under the truck. the brake cable was loose and laying on the ground.the only thing keeping my truck from rolling down my drive was the transmission. both times the equlizer failed under similar circumstances. this is a very unsafe condition. i think the equlizer should be made from heavier steel to last the life of the vehicle. *ak

At 30,951 miles this vehicle had to have a new oil pan put in, and a new gas tank as the other one was leaking which can pose a danger anywhere at anytime just by a simple cigarett to the ground. i don't think oil pans should rust out. i was told this was not an uncommon problem with ford. they did not want to deal with me further claiming my vehicle was old. in years maybe, but not in mileage. the transmission leak has not been fixed yet. they do not stand behind their products as it is evident these are indeed faulty parts used by ford. how can an oil pan rust out? a fuel tank rusting out at the same time? also a transmission leak? i have sent letters to no avail. they just say it is being forwarded. we all know what that means. i don't think they should be allowed to do this to us, the comsumers. we will not feel safe in any ford vehicle. what would have happended if the oil pan decided to go while we were driving on the highway with other drivers. i shudder to think of a disaster that could have been. thank you for allowing me the opportunity to voice myself. but, can you help me? sincerely, scott wilson. *ak

Clutch master cylinder rod connects to clutch pedal with plastic bushing, the bushing wears out and clutch linkage falls off.if this happens while driving you are unable to press in the clutch pedal to disegage the clutch, therefore you are unable to stop the vehicle.this happened to me but luckily no one was in front of me and i was able to stop and kill engine.very poor setup for the clutch assembly.the cost of repairs is about $150.00 performing the repairs myself.*ak
