I noticed when i bought the truck in november of 2005 that the oil pan was very wet with oil. thinking it may have been a loose gasket i re-torqued the pan bolts. it continued to leak oil. i cleaned the pan of all oil and noticed the pan had a lot of rusty areas. the oil leaks were in areas where the pan had the worst rust spots with the metal of the pan being eaten away by the rust. two areas had tiny holes ranging in size from a tip of a pin to the larger one where it would lightly squirt out while the engine was running. the other two leaked slowly like from a sponge. two of the leaks were on the front of the pan and two were at the bottom rear of the pan. i shut the engine down removed the drain plug and let the oil drain out of the pan overnight. then i sanded by hand the areas with the leaks and applied layers of jb weld to cover the rusted out areas. it has held so far but i certainly expect more holes to appear at anytime. i keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge and check under the truck at intervals to make sure nothing is leaking. after searching the internet i have found others with the same problem. luckily i saw and investigated the oil leak but someone else not aware of the problem would have ended up with an engine with no oil left in it and a scenario for major engine damage or even an accident. i found out the replacement of the oil pan is very expensive as the entire engine must be lifted in order to remove the pan. this all sounds to me like a defective oil pan, inferior metal used, or the coating applied to the pan didn't work as it was supposed to. *nm

I own a 1995 ford f-150 with a rotted out oil pan . it is a common problem and ford chooses to do nothing about it. the moisture gets between the paint and the oil pan metal and starts to rot it out without you knowing about it. next thing you know you have oil dripping in your driveway because of fords inability to repair or recall this problem. these idiots want to sell you a vehicle and don't care after it is sold. the paint they used in certain 1990's models was defective and or not done properly and need to be recalled or replace the oil pan with limited cost!! take responsibility for your mistake, don't let the consumer have to deal with your incompatible!!!!*jb

While questioning mechanics about costs on a new motor for my f150 i was told there was a 'silent' recall on this engine because of the oil leak problem. is this true? it had always leaked oil and we kept it full. trouble seemed to be the oil wasn't getting to the engine block.*ak

The oil pan is completely rusted to the point that it made a hole right through the steel, causing the oil to seep through. upon calling the ford co. last week, i was told by the rep. that the rust was coming from the outside of the oil pan and that it wasn't ford's problem. i then called a few garages and they all told me that they're having a lot of problems with corroded oil pans on f150 pickups and that ford does not want to admit that this is a serious problem. they told me that ford should be completely responsible for such a major problem. i would appreciate it very much if you could look into this and let me know if there will be a recall. this should never happen with a 6 year old pickup with only 58,000 miles on it, especially with the oil pan. again, this a very serious problem and can be very dangerous if it's not taken care of right away. thank you.*ak

Oil pan rusted out and started leaking. i caught it before all oil lost on road and avoided an accident. i heard about the problem through a friend that lost all his oil and seized engine. this truck is otherwise in excellent condition. it has never plowed snow. it virtually has no other rust. oil pans should not rust out. if oil is lost at highway speeds, a serious accident could occur.

I contacted ford motor company back when the oil change place told me about the problem, then call ford up and talked a rep. he said it was not under warranty or recall. but he said he would contact hiller ford (closed dealer to me) and they would call me within a week. i never got a call. i finally had to bring it in this week and get it replaced by a private garage in milwaukee. (the dealer's cost was way out of line.). i'm not thrilled by ford not getting back to me and this just shows what they think of there customers.i'm going to bring the part into work and have the metal anyalized and see what the problem was. no sxafety defect listed. *ak

Vehicle lost oil pressure as i was driving on the highway . when i noticed the failure on my pressure gage i pulled off the road and the engine was making a terrible noise. we then had the vehicle towed to a garage to have it looked at, the machanic said that he thought that i might have spun a berring on the crank. every mechanic that i have talked to { 5 including this one!! } said that this trucks oil pump should have never gone out at only 100,000 miles. has this ever happened before? is there anything i can do short of replacing my engine at the cost of $2500.00 ? any help or information would be greatly appreciated.. thank you in advance for your help and cooperation.. thanks again, kevin light

I bought this truck in july of 1995 brand new.since the day i bought i noticed problems.what my truck did and still does, is it hesitates. when you first start it up and drive it, it is fine. but as soon as it starts to reach operating temperatures, it will start to hesitate. i contacted my local dealership, and they tried to fix it three times on three diffrent occasions and could not fix it. they did duplicate the problem. i then contacted the manufacturer, and they told me to bring it back to have the dealership look at it again. it is now off warranty, and my problems still exists. *ak
