I purchased this 1999 ford f150 truck in june of 1999, within in a few months the truck was registering more miles than i had put on this truck. i returned to dealer and made complaint. i was told they could not find anything wrong. then i returned to dealer with same complaint on several orther times. finally i called the dmv office in whiteville nc , they got in touch with the quality ford co. and then quality ford replaced the odometer in truck. at this time i was also complaining about truck making a knocking sound. they told me they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. they have always told me this on every compliant i made about the truck. now today 12-4-00 the truck is still jumping mileage , i had the truck in the shop in november and it was there for two weeks, i finally picked the truck up on 11-28-00 and i was told that they had driven the truck to fayettville nc and that the truck did jump mileage with the driver and that they were going to replace the odometer again, and that they had ordered the odometer and that it would be in on friday 12-1-00. i contacted them on monday 12-4-00 and they told me to bring the truck to them on thursday 12-7-00 and that they would put the odometer in on this day and replace the back window which pours water when it rains, but that they were not going to do anything about the motor knocking because it was just a charecteristic of the motor and it would not hurt the motor. this is not what i payed for . i paid for a new truck and i think i got a lemon. i amm tired of changing the odometer in this truck. i never know the real mileage on this vehicle because they just put whatever they think should be on truck back on the odometer. this is not right to me. isn,t it against the law to mess with mileage on a vehicle. please help me i just dont know what to do with this vehicle except to hire me an attorney and get my money back out of this vehicle and get my vehicle back that i traded in on this truck along with.

The truck vibrates at 36 to 44 mph. vibration is worse at 41-42 mph. the vehicle has been returned to the dealer three times. i have contacted david wrightsman, field service engineer, ford customer division, atlanta regional office. he has driven the truck and states that correcting vibrations in the f150 series is a black art. ford has a bulletin out on vibrations. service bulletin 99-11-1, nhtsa item number: sb606433. i have found out that this problem has exisited for some time. my concern is that the vibration is wearing on unknown components of the truck and will cause a failure at an unpredictable time. the tires are in balance and run true and are not the cause. my dealer has said they will call me if they come up with a solution

The 4 wheel drive in the consumer 1999 ford f150 engaged in low range while driving. this caused the truck to jerk, lose control and the rear end to go out.*mr the consumer had a new rear end put in but the truck has continued to go in and out of 4 wheel drive automatically. now the truck start on it's own. the consumer had to disconnect the battery to keep from burning out the starter. when the cruise control is on the transmission wouldn't shift and the rpm's raced into the red. the consumer could hear clicks under the dash while this was happening which resulted in the battery being drained. the radiator leaked. *nm

Transmission blew a back seal. there was metal and brass shavings in the trasnmission. the repair person said he believed the problem was being caused by rear seal walking or spinning out, probably due to excess driveshaft moving or flexing. we rebuilt the transmission and a week later we are having the same problem. except this time the rear seal got so hot it blew the transmission core also. i have spent 1700.00 so far. no end in site and no help from ford.*ak

I bought the 99 f-150 used. i've owned it for 2 years and in those two years spent over 3000 dollars repairing it. i cant handle the thought of keeping a truck that cost so much in repairs. and now the dealer tells me i need a new transmission. this is one week after i spent over 500 replacing the spark plugs, fuel filter, and getting the fuel injectors cleaned. i have only 58,000 miles on the thing and was told by the dealer that the plugs don't need to be touched for 100,000 miles. well it was missing and that was the problem. the truck slams into gear between 1 and 2, and now the problem is my transmission is bad. at 58,000 miles? and i've never even towed anything. just regular wear and tear? i think these trucks must be lemons. after i get the transmission fixed, i'll have spent $5,600 in a two year span. i have to sell it because the repairs are more than the payment. i guess that's why it was sold to me when it was only two years. old. *nlm

Seal failer at 75 mph caused the overrive to fail, causing transmission bands to fail. i have an extended warranty policy, however, they are not willing to cover the transmission because they feel the transmission was deliberately run with out fluid. the rear seal failed, causing the rear housing to also fail. this all happened unknowingly while driving down the highway at 75 mph. the transmission would obviosly be run low on fluid when the rear seal completely blows out of it seat. i am hoping that you will do whats right and help me get this matter resolved by informing my extended warrantee provider that this insident was unavoidable. thank you.*ak

Removed and installed transmission line (filler pipe where you put oil in rusting through) installed transmission dipstick tube. 06/22/2005. removed and installed transmission filter, transmission flush 08/30/2005. on 02/08/2006 removed transmission, rebuild transmission, installed transmission, flushed transmission cooler. this was caused by the filler pipe(oil input) rusting and letting water into the system. it should not have happened for a 1999 ford pickup f-150 with 65000 miles, no matter how old or new it was. i have always had ford trucks or cars and drove them for thousands of miles without the amount of problems i have had with this one, there is a noise in the rear end that i am watching now. *nm.....*ak

Pickup was backed up in front of my garage, passerger door open, motor running and shift indicator in park position. i was loading items in pickup bed when suddenly the pickup started coming at me in reverse. the open pickup door hit the garage and wrapped around against the front fender as the pickup came into the garage. the door wedged between the fender and the garage door frame stopping the pickup. otherwise, i might have been crushed between the pickup and garage wall. i contacted my insurance agency and had my local ford dealer, doenges-bartlesville, repair the damage at a cost of $2,436. my deductible was $500. my local ford dealer suggested i contact ford motor company about the problem. i did and received no help from them on the problem. in looking at your files, i find that mine is not the only 1999 ford pickup that this has happend to. i feel this is a safety problem with fords. since ford motor company is not concerned with my problem, the best thing i can do in the future is buy no more ford vehicles.*ak

POWER TRAIN - AXLE ASSEMBLY
05/20/2005 | 55000 | 1 | 03/29/1999 |
A high pitch noise coming from rear axle assembly and subsequent failure of the entire rear axle assembly. dealer mechanics have found foreign components inside the rear differential assembly (a silicon sealer squeezed and wedged between the ring pinion gears and the input shaft) that may have caused the problem. they found the rear axle lubricant to be burnt and metal debris was also found inside the casing of the differential assembly. vehicle failed at around 55,000 miles and 6 years of service. rear axle have not been previously serviced by me or any other service facility before the above mentioned failure. the vehicle was purchased new and it has been in my possession ever since. to solve this issue and make the vehicle drivable again, a $2,500.00 worth of repair (dealer recommended rebuild of the assembly) had to be performed. ford is denying any claims that i have made in order to receive assistance. old parts and the foreign component have been saved and are in my possession. i believe (with the support of the service rep. and the mechanic) that the poor assembly procedure at the factory and the foreign part found in the failed component to be cause of this problem.

Rear axle broke, pulled me off the highway, witness behind me said it was as though the rear end jumped up. my truck was totaled, and because i hit a culvert that did even more damage to the underside, i'm not sure that can tell it was a mechanical failure. i took pictures of the tire marks in the wet grass and the right tire path was about two feet wide as if the tires were sideways, this was before the culvert was hit. the left side tire tracks were of normal width. i did not run off the road, i was pulled off the road. it seemed as though i still had control of the steering but the rear end went its own way. was extremely lucky that no injuries/fatalities occurred. i at this point cannot replace my truck that i bought new and treated like a baby. the truck was taken in at least four times early by my husband, and they were to notify the ford company. my husband passed away in december 2000, and being as i know nothing about the problem that occurred only when going over 45, i.e., down the freeway as my husband often did, i assumed it was corrected, but so distraught that the mechanics of the truck was the last thing on my mind until the mechanical breakdown occurred. i think the ford company should replace my defective vehicle with one of equal value, one owner, highway miles, and exceptional condition without any expense to me. i have a very high deductible, and will not be able to get a truck comparable with the money from the insurance company.*ak

We purchased this truck in oct 1999 new, we have had it in the shop 4 times for the brake problem. it first started out with the brakes locking up when it was damp out, they could not find a problem at that time .the next time they said it was the axel seal leaking. on july 11, 02 they said it was the brake shoes , which with only 35838 miles on the truck how could that be .the brake shoes was replaced at that time. now today i was going down the road and the back rear brake started growling, so i stopped to see what the problem was , i removed the back tire and removed back hub and found pin to wheel cylinder laying in the hub. i called a wrecker to come and get me and my truck , went to dealer where i purchased it and stayed there just about all day .thank you very much for hearing my complaint.*ak
