I recently bought a 2001 ford f150 super cab truck, and i saw that it doesn't have any head retraints in the back seats, and also found out that there have been about four complaints about this matter and nothing has been done about it,also had my truck in the dealer shop for four days for a water leak, and was given to me,paid by the dealer a ford f150 super cab 2005 rental, until my truck was fixed, and i saw that this truck did have the back seats restraints,so i believe this is a very unsafe, not to have these restraints on these other year trucks.i hope that something can be resolve on this problem, because i have grandkids, and it could be very unsafe.and this my first time buying a ford.please reply to me soon.thank you very much. *ak

Rear seats have no head rests. the glass for the rear window is only inches from the back of a persons head. since customers purchase these four door pickups to carry more than two people, the chance of someone striking there head on the glass seems be more likely than in extended cab pickups. it is my understanding that ford is now putting in rear seats with head rests. what about updating those w/out them?*ak

Headrests on rear seat are not installed. vehicles built after dates in november 2000 were equipped with the headrests. back seat passengers have no protection during a rear end collision. my vehicle should be retrofitted with the headrests at the manufacturers expense.
12/01/2000
The seats , the rear in particular , don't have head restraints. in the event of a rear end collision the rear seat occupant's head could break the rear window and strike the metal sill resulting in severe head injury. ford has addressed this problem in the f150 supercrews built after 10/2000 but hasn't done anything for those who purchased vechicles built prior to the production change. *ak

2001 ford f150 supercrew purchased in march 2000 does not include headrests on the rear seats (60/40 split bench). two passengers traveling in my back seat and wearing their seat belts violently struck their heads against the rear window during a sudden stop. ford has installed rear headrests halfway through this model year. i feel a recall is warranted. *ak

I ordered my f-150 supercrew in august 2000. the truck was built in late september and i took delivery in the first week of october 2000. although my truck was sold as a 2001 model, ford has subsequently made two critical safety modifications in the 2001 supercrews that were produced after my build date. the latest 2001 model includes rear seat headrests and child seat anchors in the rear seats. as noted in my report, i was recently driving in the city at approximately 25 mph when i was forced to make a panic stop. my wife, who was riding in the middle of the rear seat (two-point seat belt), was initially pushed forward by the force of the braking then hit her head on the rear window upon recoil. fortunately, she suffered no injuries. at the same time, my 3 year-old daughter (sitting in a properly installed, double shoulder harness child seat) was also pushed forward and back by the force of the stop. despite the fact that she was well secured in the seat, the forward and back motion was intensified by the lack of a child seat anchor. in my opinion, ford's recognition of these safety defects is clearly demonstrated in the modifications that were made to trucks produced after november 2000. i also believe that given the potential for serious injury as a result of these safety defects, all 2001 supercrews produced prior to the modification date should be recalled for retrofitting. *ak

Purchased truck new on 11/20/00. rear seat has no head rest, which will cause some serious head injuries in an accident. did not realize the seat had no headrest until after the purchase. talking to other owners, i have learned that ford motor company is now installing seats with headrest. if this was not a safety issue, why would ford motor company redesign the rear seat at mid year.i understand that ford is not doing anything when customers call them, had i known that they were installing a redesigned seat with headrest in the newer trucks off the assy. line, i would have waited to make my purchase.
11/10/2000110/01/2000
Rear passenger seats in my f150 supercrew has no head protection for my passengers. passengers head are not protected during sudden stops or wrecks. i was forced to break suddenly to avoid an accident. my rear passengers head smacked the rear window causing one person minor head injury. i don't understand how ford is allowed to produce such a safety hazard to its passengers. i would like ford to provide rear seat head rests to protect rear passengers in the event of crash or sudden stop. small pickup are required to have head rest when the riders head rest close to the rear windows. this is a 2001 truck with major defect that could pose serious injury to passengers.

05/01/2000
I have a concern regarding the lack of rear passenger head restraint. in the event of a collision there are no provisions to prevent the rear passenger's head from impacting the rear glass. the manufacturer knows this is a problem as evidence in a mid year change to include head restraints for the rear passengers.*ak

The early 2001 model f150 supercrew pickups came with a lack of headrest for the rear seats. i have carried passengers in the back seats and they all have expressed the concern that their heads rest against the rear window. in the case of an accident, their heads would hit the rear window and could cause serious injury. the newer model 2001 supercrew pickups have the rear head restraints in place. *ak

My previous crew cab ford pick up, a 1996 model, has rear seat head restraints. after purchasing this new ford crew cab pick up, an 2001 model, i noticed no head restraints for rear passengers and am very concerned a family member or friend head will smash rear glass in an accident. please help as i know the rear window is inches from rear passengers heads and if i am rear ended the rear passengers heads will be smashed into the rear window. why has ford not supplied rear head restraints on this truck when they did on the other? please help!

My complaint is with the rear seat headrests or lack of. my 2001 does not have headrests. since then ford has added as standard equipment rear seat headrests. i am concerned about the safety of the rear seat passengers. if ford felt that they were neccesary on newer 2001s perhaps it is neccesary on mine also. i would like ford to tell me why they made this change mid year if not for safety reasons. *ak

I recently purchased this vehicle and i am very concerned that rear passengers have no protection to prevent their heads from hitting the rear window of the truck in the event of a sudden stop or collision. the rear seats have no head rests and this is a full 4-door vehicle. i also have noticed that ford is now equipping newer vehicles of the same model year with rear seat head rests. this implies that ford apparently acknowledges that a significant safety hazard exists since they chose to redesign the rear seat within a single model year. i am very concerned about the safety of my vehicle and feel that it should be retrofitted with the new rear seat head rests at no cost. *ak

Head rests have been installed on newer models of the same, i feel that ford should recall my truck and others of the same year (2001) and update our rear seats to have headrests. i beleive that the headrest were installed by ford for the prevention of a passenger's head be put thru the rear window. this is definitley a problem that ford saw coming and decided to include the headrest on the newer version of the same year for precaution..this to me should be a recall by ford to replace my present rear seat wihout headrests, with one that has them. thank you. *ak

My early built f150 supercrew did not come with rear seat headrests. it has come to my attention that the newer supercrews do come with headrests. as we all know, headrests are extremely important in crashes to prevent injuries, and i think ford has realized that in the supercrews, so they put them in the newer ones. i believe ford should have the responsibilty to replace the seats of all supercrews that did not come with the rear head rests. *ak

If i'm involved in a rear end type of crash where i'm hit from rear i'm concerned that my rear seated passengers head may hit the rear window glass because of a flaw in design of rear seats not having a head rest. your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated since i have two elementary sschool children that are my main passengers and since they cannot sit in front of truck because of airbag deployment concerns. thank you.

I believe the new change to the mid-model f-150 supercrew's rear seat, by adding the head restraint is a great idea and should be retrofitted into the older models which were not equipped with those restraints. sitting at the height in which the seats are constructed can (and does) result in the head striking the rear window upon acceleration and when whipped back in a sudden braking incident. to prevent any form of litigation from an accident ford mo. co. should issue a recall and ammend the situation. *ak

Rear seats do not have headrests or any type of head support. the rear window glass is immediately behind the seats. rear seat passengers can hit their heads on the rear window. ford has added headrests to current production vehicles so they obviously agree with this major safety concern. i feel ford should recall all 2001 f150 supercrews and change the rear seat to the current seat they are now using.
