While driving vehicle at any speed from 10 mph to 70 mph the truck will go into safe mode (limp-home mode) going down to 5 mph and losing all power steering. when diagnosed it is the throttle body control to me this is a safety issue what happens if i am driving 70 mph on the highway and it goes into safety mode and i lose all power steering. does someone have to die before there is a recall on this??? it will cost me around $1000.00 to fix per brondes ford in toledo ohio and i am told ford has 2 or 3 vehicles a week come in for the same problem. to me this is not standard maintenance.

Electronic throttle control failure causes the engine to lose all power, power steering is inoperable and vehicle must be stopped, ignition turned off and on again before vehicle is able to proceed. this has happened on 4 occasions in the past year with no warning. this defect poses a seriously dangerous situation, especially at highway speeds, as the operator has no control over the vehicle until able to pull to the side, turn ignition off and then restart the engine. ford service says they are unaware of this problem but, it is reported numerous times in forums on ford vehicle safety as a $500-$600 repair. this doesn't seem like a normal wear & tear issue but rather a factory defect that ford should address before someone is injured?

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f150. when the contact activated the headlights, the instrument panel lights would dim. as a result, the gauges became difficult to see. she took the vehicle to the dealer on three different occasions and was informed that the issue was a safety feature in order to prevent glare on the driver's eyes at night. the dealer did nothing to repair the vehicle during the first visit. during the second and third visits, the dealer offered no remedy. the manufacturer stated that she did not have a legitimate complaint and referred her to the service manager at the dealer. the current mileage was 11,382 and failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - IGNITION - SWITCH

I recently bought a 2005 ford f-150 xl, in the two months that i have had this truck i've had nothing but problems with it. the ignition switch has blown fuses, causing the truck to not start, but sometimes it takes 3-4 turns of the key to get it started, either the engine does nothing or it will hesitate for 5-6 seconds before finally turning over. i am also having problems with the truck stalling. most commonly the stalling occurs while sitting at a red light but it has stalled while i was moving causing me to lose power steering until i could get the truck started again. the passenger door was off line and wouldn't always shut right causing noise and rain to get in. i was missing screws on the door panels witch caused a constant rattling from both sides of the truck. the doors have been fixed by the service department where i bought the truck, but it is still by no means quite in there, and nobody can permanently fix the engine troubles because they don't know why it's happening. this truck is not a safe and dependable way of transportation for me or my one year old son who is sometimes with me. *jb
